London based Zaha Hadid Architects was selected as design architects of the Heydar Aliyev Center following a contest in 2007. The structure, designed to become the main building for the nation’s cultural programs. It is a 57,000-square-metre building.
The remarkable design is a contemporary interpretation of the historical architecture visible throughout Baku. The Heydar Aliyev Center consists of multitudes of accessible event spaces that blur the line between architecture, landscape, interior and exterior.
