Last summer might have been the season of the overall, but this year the darling of fashion has continued to be the jumpsuit. Sure the style originated in the disco soaked seventies but we assure you it has shimmied off its dance hall reputation to grace the bodies of some of fashion’s most sophisticated ladies. Each one is giving the look her own modern twist and making it fresh again. See for example as the sparkling version recently sported by actress and model Suki Waterhouse or the menswear take on the trend worn by Rebecca Feruson when the actress hosted a lunch in Sagoponack that featured Moet Ice and Revolve.
Now, fashion’s it girl of the moment Olivia Palermo has tackled the sometimes one-note look and livened it up with her own refreshing spin on the jumpsuit. The girl-about-town was spotted in a halterneck jumpsuit from Lovers + Friends and we think it harkens back to the glamorous days when you might have seen Anjelica Huston boogying the night away at Studio 54. The garment boasted some cutouts in keeping with more recent trends and a belt at the waist that screams louche circa 1992. Olivia then paired her look with stunning but simple accessories to give it a pop. Sunglasses edged in blue and a chic gold bracelet gave the look some subtle contrast and at the same time her strappy, but minimal black sandals from Francesco Russo provided the elegance needed to ground this look squarely in modern times.
