Hearing the term “man’s best friend” always leads us to imagine a family with their golden retriever by a nice picket fence from the 1950’s; that is always a nice picture, but this story is in a cuter context. What is trending around the world right now is the story of two dogs, Lucy and Panda, who were stuck on the railway for two days in the freezing cold. Lucy had been injured while the two were seemingly traveling through the woods, and she could not move. The rest of the story from here gets even more adorable than the start.
It is quite clear that the railroad is a danger zone for any passerby, canine or human, and staying on the tracks could harm and even kill anyone stuck in the pathway. The Pet Rescue Report had stated very bluntly that Lucy was most likely injured by a train passing by, leaving her nearly crushed. In any form of instinct, most would flee the scene in fear of danger, but Panda stayed right beside his girlfriend Lucy and protected her from the trains speeding by cuddling her and holding her down with his body.
“He kept her warm for two days under the constant threat of danger! I don’t know what to call it: instinct, love, friendship, attachment. I only know this: not every human is capable of this. We should all learn from it,”
These were the words of Daniel Malafeev who found the two dogs, took pictures, and shared their viral story worldwide. There were even further reports about how many people tried to rescue Lucy and her companion Panda, but Panda would not let anyone touch her as he tried to protect her from any harms way. This story is so touching that it beats the scene of “Lady and the Tramp” where Lady and her boyfriend Tramp share spaghetti and meatballs and the two end up kissing. If anyone could learn anything from this story, the lesson would be that no matter what, always have your friend’s back, even if it means freezing with them for two days straight.
