Most Memorable Red Carpet Fashion Moments

Any red carpet event has its moments. Oftentimes it doesn’t really matter what the event it, as long as the stars would be seen on the red carpet. And they look amazing of course. Some put their minds to how they would look, and some are just radiant no matter what they have on.

Here are some of the most memorable moment on the red carpet at the Oscars and other red carpet events.

Dakota Johnson- Academy Awards, 2017

It is the farthest cry from her 50 Shades of Grey personae, in which she is usually scantily clad (or totally naked). Dakota Johnson comes from a long line of famous actors, so we expect her to be in the know as to what to wear on the red carpet.

50 shades of gold

It is a total mystery, therefore, why she chose this fancy pilgrims wear to the Oscars. unless this is an ultra-conservative Christian statement – like Madonna in the early 90’s trying to persuade everyone, she was a devout Jesus loving Christian, this look is a total fail.

There’s more!

Life Hacks to Avoid Like The Plague

While the growth of the internet has been a truly amazing thing for humanity, it has always come with some rather significant drawbacks that people simply do not think of. For example, the era of the ‘life hack’ has been upon us for a couple of years now. Social media viral sharing and easy pollution of the internet with your own media means that we can easily share some ‘hacks’ online that are supposed to make life easier.

Now, while many life hacks are indeed a work of genius, some of them are, uh, less so. Take the following ‘life hacks’ that, if used, could put you in an early grave. If you want to live a happy and full health, we recommend you avoid any of the following!

Batteries in the Fridge.

Some geniuses claim that putting batteries in the fridge can add more lifespan to the battery. It can also, though, make it rust. Rusty batteries then begin to leak, and battery fluid in your freezer is like spreading toxic waste on a sandwich. This is something that could literally kill you via poisoning. Batteries are a lot cheaper than reconstructive surgery or a funeral so, uh, yeah…. just buy another pack. Conservation is nice, but not to the point of risking your health.

Fasting is Foolish.

Another weird ‘life hack’ has become about fasting. Fasting to starve your body to ‘cleanse’ it of all toxins is a madness. Your body works 24/7 to produce and then kill off toxins all the time; if it did not do this naturally, you would die. You don’t need to starve yourself to make sure you can get your body to detox itself. You merely make yourself weaker physically and mentally, and make it very hard to get the exact nutritional balance that makes combatting these problems in the first place a possibility!

Microwaved Food without Sogginess.

Now, this is a weird one. People seem to think that if you microwave a dish that you don’t want to go soggy while putting a glass of water in there, that it avoids the food from going crispy. Not only is this primary school science at its best, it adds even more moisture which allows for dormant bacteria to become active once again.

Toaster as a Grill.

We can’t even believe this is a thing. Rather than just use the grill, people like to turn their toaster on its side and “grill cheese” in this way. Not only is this absolutely redundant and nowhere near as good as doing with a real grill, it’s damn dangerous. You’ll be pouring cheese and grease all over the toaster’ heating element, which can cause a fire in an instant. You are also letting the heat build-up within the toaster to come out in a way it’s simply not intended. Just use the grill!

Want to live longer? Then avoid trying any of the positively ludicrous ideas above and you should be A-OK!

Coffee and Cancer? Californians, Watch Out

For most people, the day always starts with a cup of coffee. People love coffee, and so do I. It’s a fine little jolt to get you started in the morning and, truth be told, is often a substitute for breakfast.  Poor dietary habits aside, though, some concerning information is coming out of California. If you are like me and love your coffee in the morning, this might make you take a big old gulp.

Despite numerous studies over the years showing us that coffee can be good for us, it appears that in California we might start seeing a label telling us that coffee increases the risk of contracting cancer. As part of Proposition 65 by the Environmental Protection Agency, any cancer-causing chemicals in any product must be then alerted to the people who will be interacting with said chemical.

One chemical, acrylamide, is part of cooking foods at a high temperature – and this is the same with coffee beans. When the beans go beyond a certain temperature, they produce this powerful chemical that could – COULD – be linked to cancer development. At present, 13 companies have agreed to start printing these warning labels on their walls and in their stores. This includes the popular 7-Eleven store, so don’t get freaked out when you walk into the store and see CANCER written on the wall.

Unfortunately, taking coffee beans to this specific temperature is just part of the process. This means that the chemical by-product will be produced and that can be a bit of a nightmare scenario. Do you want to cut out yet another potentially cancer-causing product? Or do you want to take an extra hour in the morning to wake up? It’s a tough choice for many, even if it sounds simple.

If you are like me and have spent a lifetime drinking coffee, though, this might have you on high alert. While we’re all (mostly) aware that cups of coffee that are loaded with sugar, chocolate and the like isn’t exactly as healthy as a black coffee without sugar, this new warning will help to set alarm bells ringing in most cautiously minded readers.

While the acrylamide levels needed to cause cancer in a rat, as part of one study, was as much as 10,000 times the amount the average human would take in, and human studies are inconclusive, those who are serious about keeping themselves away from anything even remotely dangerous might want to change the drink they start their day with for the time being.

Sorry.

Are Central Perk Coffee Shops Becoming a Reality?

Now, I can’t believe that I’m writing this in 2018. This is an article I fully expected to be a reality sometime in the late 1990s, nevermind now. However, as Friends has gone onto Netflix and many people who watched it as kids or listened to their parents talk about it get the chance to see it from the start, you’ll no doubt get (overly) used to the Central Perk coffee shop. The gang hang out there for large sections of the show, and for that reason, it has become a rather common starting point for most people when talking about the show.

In fact, for years, groups built on the Friends dynamic have often tried to find their own coffee shop of this variety to hang out in. News coming out of sources like The Blast, though, are convincing us that we might finally be about to see a real, actual Central Perk appear.

Warner Bros. have been granted a trademark for the name as well as the logo, as well as the usage in coffee shape and café services. Whether this is merely a move to box off anyone else getting in there first or having their own rip-off version, or they are actually about to come to life, we aren’t sure yet.

However, they also apparently have taken the name for everything from toys and board games to slot machines (though it’s still pending) so there’s obviously some kind of intent in the background to make this a reality. So, if you ever wanted to go and perpetually hang around a coffee shop, and get to know the staff to the point of over-familiarity, then you might just have the chance to go and do that now.

What is interesting about this is the fact that WB already has ownership of all of this, as they own Friends. Therefore, it’s interesting that they have gone this far to trademark it all; you couldn’t have ripped it off yourself anyway, so the fact they are moving to secure this does point to the fact that they might be in the process of actually starting one of these up in the near future.

It’s certainly an interesting debate, and one that should give us all the opportunity to finally try and be our own take on what was arguably the most popular 90s TV show. Given the massive positivity of the 20th anniversary Central Perk pop-up that happened in Manhattan, they have all the information they need to know that this is likely going to be an absolutely mammoth success in time.

Horse Is On The Verge of Death, Until It’s Mate Saves the Day

Anyone who has ever followed or looked into the world of horse racing will probably not be shocked by this story. For animal lovers, though, the crass and horrifying way that horses are treated in the circuit is always a hard thing to learn.

Given that many horses that simply injure themselves or are no longer worth money to their masters are simply put down, the utterly inhumane nature of the treatment of horses is never a surprise – though it is a shock.

However, one story goes to show that many times these trigger-finger decisions are simply beyond the pale. Donald and Jane are two British farmers and, thankfully, have respect for these beautiful animals. However, one of their horses had fallen immensely ill and it was gradually getting to the point where survival was not going to be possible.

Close to their animals and especially their horses, the couple deliberated on what to do for a long period of time. As health deteriorated rapidly, however, Beatrice simply collapsed and showed no willingness – or ability – to be able to get back up to her feet. In desperate need of assistance, the couple was worried that the time had come for their beloved horse to meet its maker.

Organ failure is a common problem with horses, especially horses that wind up on the floor like this. Six hours passed as they tried everything they could to help her back up. Pulleys and straps were used to no avail, as the horse was simply too heavy to be able to move without any miracle assistance. Sadly, they ran out of ideas and decided they could only make one choice – give Beatrice an exit from this world with a touch of dignity.

Thankfully, a miracle happened. You know they say that our partners can give us strength when we’re at our weakest? That’s precisely what happened here. Beau, her partner, strode into the room and immediately decided to help Beatrice. Not satisfied with her ability, he started to nag and pull at her head using his teeth. After a while of doing this, it cajoled Beatrice into reacting and she eventually shot up to a stance!

The farmers themselves were dumbfounded at what they had just seen.

“We are used to seeing extraordinary interactions between the horses,” Jane explained, “but we have never witnessed a horse saving another’s life.”

In time, they were able to help Beatrice mull along to a full and complete recovery. Awesome, right? They were able to save her from a life of misery, pain and death. Now, it appears that B&B are happy together in their farm once again, and they can forget the whole thing ever happened!

Super Happy Dog Fired From Cops for Being Too Nice!?

Today, one of the most common problems that law enforcement has to deal with is one of perception. Put bluntly, people think the cops aren’t very nice. It’s all stemmed from a host of bad news stories from across the globe (though mostly in the US) that’s helped to paint the boys in blue in the most unflattering of lights. This story, though, only goes to reinforce the ‘harsh’ image of the police that society has today (not really).

When police dogs sign up to be part of the unit, they are expected to be tough, uncompromising competitors who’ll sink their teeth into, well, anything they’re told too!

However, when this little police dog joined up with the force to try and catch bad guys, there was a minor flaw in the plan. Despite supposedly doing a job that’s all about being ferocious and fearsome, this dog was simply too nice for the cops to be able to work with.

The dog, known as Gavel, is a cute little German Shepherd and is among the cutest police dogs we’ve ever seen. That, though, might just be the problem. What use is a police dog if it just wants to sniff butts and cuddle legs? They are supposed to be tough, uncompromising dogs. This member of the Queensland PD was simply not up to the job in terms of the fearsome nature required.

And is that really a bad thing?

Young Gavel would get very excited around just about any stranger, and would just go nuts at the prospect of spending time with just about anyone. So, it began to become a bit of an issue for the PD as, well, the training was kind of pointless. If he can’t catch criminals, he’s unfortunately not a lot of good to a police department. As beautiful and as loveable as he clearly is, he’s just not cut out for this kind of living.

According to the BBC, “Instead of tackling hardened criminals, the (dog) liked to meet strangers, and police in Australia felt he ‘did not display the necessary aptitude for a life on the front line,’”

Happily, though, our buddy isn’t going to be out of work for too long. He’s become the “Vice Regal Dog” of the Queensland Mansion. We’d actually say he’s lucked out; would you not rather be hanging around a mansion all day, surrounded by luxury, rather than hitting the mean streets and trying to deal with the dark underbelly of society? We know what we’d rather be doing!

Best of luck, Gavel!

The True Origin of Valentine’s Day May Surprise You

In the midst of the twentieth century, Valentine’s Day is celebrated by everyone, young or old. However, most of us do not know the significance of the history and origin of this day. It is important to get to know the initial blocks of this day.

Roots of Valentine’s Day go all the way back to Lupercalia, a Roman fertility festival held in mid of February.  Long ago, there was a cruel emperor who banned his soldiers from marrying as he believed singles made better soldiers. Father Valentine thought it was unjust to do so and it was people’s legal right to be loved and get married so he starting marrying the couples secretly. When the emperor came to know about this act, he imprisoned father valentine and sentenced him to death.

The young couples he married visited him in the prison cell and gave him flowers as a symbol of their gratitude. While in the prison Father Valentine fell in love with his jailer’s daughter. On February 14th, the day he was executed he wrote her a note and it was signed as “from your Valentine”. It is believed that Valentine’s Day is celebrated in the memory of Valentine who stood up in the name of love. The Valentine’s holiday was declared by Pope Gelasius in the 5thAD.

Cupid, Roman God of love, was famous for shooting his arrow to make people fall in love. Venus and Psyche were two sisters. Venus thought everyone loved psyche and not her so we went to Cupid to get love. Accidently cupid shot himself with his arrow and fell in love with Psyche.

In the 1300s the holiday was associated with showing love and romance. It was also believed that mid-February is the beginning of birds mating season. In the 15th century written valentines greetings emerged and by the 17th century, people in the UK started sending cards and letters to their loved ones. The day soon started to celebrate in the US as well. In 1840’s mass production of valentine cards began.

Today, approximately 1 billion Valentine’s Day cards are sent every year, being second only to Christmas cards. Heart shaped chocolate boxes and Red roses are also sold in a large quantity. Approximately 35 million the former and 220 million the later. Expensive gifts like jewelry are also gifted on this day. People buy rings and propose their loved ones on the 14th February. Many people get engaged on this day.

Valentine’s Day is based on the idea to spread love and happiness around. It’s not just to show love to your significant others but love can be shown to the parents and siblings as well. Celebrate the day of giving.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

5 Love Song You’d Never Want to Dedicate to Anyone

Valentine’s Day is coming and you might be surfing the internet to find the perfect love song to play on your date when you will propose your girl. Trying hard to make it like a Hollywood movie scene. Or you might just want to dedicate it to your significant other. All websites are full of sweet playlists to dedicate to your loved ones, so you probably don’t need another one.

So here is our list of 5 love songs that you are better off never dedicating to anyone and why. So let’s begin!

    1. “Little Things” by

This song talks about a girl who is perfect, yet it contradicts itself in many ways as it discusses all the imperfections of the girl. As Harry Styles sings: “You never want to know how much you weigh, you still have to squeeze into your jeans but you’re perfect to me.” Like seriously, indirectly you are calling your girl fat. Playing or dedicating this song can get things go terribly wrong.

    1. “Crash into me” by Dave Matthews Band

As the name suggests the song isn’t clean for sure. Dave has been a man with a melodious voice. This song goes well off the start but we have no idea what happened next. “Hike up your skirt a little more and show your world to me.” Well Dave, the world is outside the skirt, don’t act like a pervert. This song can never be a good idea to send to your loved ones, however it can get featured in the next fifty shade’s movie.

    1. “I just called to say I love you” by Stevie Wonder

Stevie wonder has sung many great songs previously but this 1984 smash wasn’t a good one, not to be offending but a terrible one in fact. It sounds as if Steve made a call but the telephone connection was too bad and it made his voice unbearable. Sorry, nobody wants to hear “I love you” with that voice.

    1. “Longer” by Dan Fogelberg

As the name suggests the song took too long to finish, as if I had been stuck in the time. Fogelberg told in an interview that he wrote this song in a relaxed environment in Hawaii. Well we agree to that, if you start listening to this song wide awake, eventually you will get too relaxed and even sleep before the song finishes. Took “longer” than expected to finish.

    1. “You’re Beautiful” by James Blunt

Where do I start from? The wacky melody, the unbearable video or the radio voice? Damn, James got no chill when he decided to make this song. What he actually intended was to make it a number 1 song of the century. Number 1 from the bottom of the list for sure.

So this was the list of love songs which you would never want to listen or dedicate to your loved ones. We have given you a warning now the choice is yours.

80’s Kid Stars – Where Are They Now?

Sometimes we need a boost of happiness to give us some energy for the rest of the day. Looking back at those Happy Days (pun intended) makes us… well, happy. Always.

We do get surprised from time to time when we find out that the cute star we loved when we were kids, turned into something we don’t like, so prepare to be pleasantly surprised or a bit sad.

Some star kids managed to go beyond their 15-minute glory while most decided to pursue a career path that had nothing to do with entertainment. These kids made it big time, and some continue to, so give them some attention, why don’t you?

Let’s begin…

Winona Ryder

From gothic teen (Beetlejuice) to grieving mother (Stranger Things), Winona Ryder has gone through some changes. Although her acting career really hit off in the 1990’s, with her becoming one of the most iconic actresses of that decade, Winona Ryder already burst on the scene as the gothic teenager in Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice when she was just 17-years-old.

It was her third movie, but it’s where she first showed off her incredible talent that would only continue from there.

Ryder has played many eccentric, brilliant characters throughout her career since then, but her personal life has been nearly as weird as her professional life. She has always been open with her struggles with depression and anxiety. Her most recent role has been in the incredibly popular Netflix series Stranger Things, for which she has garnered both Golden Globe and SAG nominations.

That role may have saved her life. At least her acting career.

Sometimes we need a boost of happiness to give us some energy for the rest of the day. Looking back at those Happy Days (pun intended) makes us… well, happy. Always.
We do get surprised from time to time when we find out that the cute star we loved...

Pre-Valentine’s Guide: How to Turn Down a Second Date

As Valentine’s Day is approaching, love is in the air. However, last time your date didn’t go so well and you might be wondering why that is so? At times we meet someone and enjoy the time we share with them, however, they are not lasting-love material. You might have felt the connection but he/she wasn’t “the one” for you due to several reasons. And that’s okay.

Finding love isn’t easy, you can date several people but if you don’t feel comfortable enough you don’t have to fake it. The other person should not be betrayed and you have to come up with what you hold in your heart. Ignoring the person isn’t a good option, you might think that if you ignore the person they will drift away with time. However, this might not be the case, the person’s emotional state will be drained in this process and will hurt him a lot. Coming out and finishing everything once and for all in a friendly way is the best option. This will hurt them in the short term but will be better for both of you in the long term.

If you don’t have feelings for them, this the time when you let them know before it’s too late and they approach you again on the Valentine’s Day. Let’s not drag things and complicate them even more. Be straightforward and let them know the truth. Don’t tell them to be friends with you after you break up because this might raise up their hopes once again.

You can take out time to meet the person and tell them the truth or just take a few minutes to text them on phone. Here is a list of ways to help finish nicely with a bad date which won’t hurt either of the sides.

  1. It was great meeting you, but I didn’t feel any chemistry between us.
  2. I had a good time but I got more of a friend vibe coming from you.
  3. We had a fun date, but I just did not feel we fit well together.
  4. You seem pleasing, but I didn’t feel a spark between us.
  5. I don’t see this in route to a serious relationship and that’s what I’m looking for this year.
  6. I really appreciate the chance to get to know you, but I should be true that I don’t see us get along in future.
  7. I respect you so I want to be straightforward that even though we had a nice time, I don’t see this going anywhere.
  8. You’re a catch, but sadly, not my catch.
  9. You deserve someone better than me, I hope you will get one soon.
  10. Thanks for taking the time to get together. I wish there was something more between us, but unfortunately, I only had friendly feelings.

So this is how you can end nicely without hurting or offending the other person, its okay to reject someone, its natural.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

70mph Down The Hill On a Longboard. Crazy!

The world of extreme sport is certainly an interesting venue to stand and watch for those who engage in it. For those who don’t partake in such activity, though, the people who are doing this can often seem like uncaged lunatics. To put yourself in all of that trouble and risk, the logic goes, is simply dangerous and encourages others to take the same reckless approach to life.

Now, while we’d be inclined to disagree with such a conservative outlook, this video is pretty nuts. Zak Maytum is a native to Boulder, Colorado, and is no stranger to facing up to danger and risky experiences. This one shows you how he takes his own madness and appreciation for taking risks in life to a whole new level, though.

Watch the video, and you’ll see an expert in longboarding take on some pretty nifty tricks as he flies down the slope. It’s a very interesting video to watch and should definitely give you a taster of the kind of experience that this was.

It’s a fun experience, and given that he ends up going faster than some cars as he picks up pace (rapidly), it shows you his immense control of the board to be able to control it and avoid any kind of incident. It’s a very interesting video and can also be a good showcase of just how much speed one can pick up when using a board of this style.

The adrenaline rush I got from even just watching this video was nuts. While I had full confidence that our hero would get to the end without a scratch, there were few moments during the video where I wasn’t watching through the cracks in my fingers!

It’s a very interesting ride and might also make a wonderful showcase to show how crazy skaters can be. While most people see it as a dull sport that isn’t very fast-paced, this can be the perfect showcase to show just how wrong that assumption is.

Watch this video and let us know if you have ever seen something so nuts. If you know anyone who reckons they are extreme, too, post this to them and let them see just how far they need to go to be up there with the wildest people in this world!

Hey! It’s Facebook’s Birthday

Just last week we celebrated 14 years of Facebook life. For many, it’s a major part of history that has helped to shape and forge the very society in which we live in. For others, it’s another step towards authoritarian watching of every man, woman and child on the planet. While you likely may sit somewhere in the middle of these two wildly contrasting views, it’s safe to say that you’ve heard of Facebook, right?

We would just like to say a nice (belated) happy birthday to Facebook. Facebook was ‘born’ on the 4th February 2004, when it was founded by Mark Zuckerberg. Alongside Eduardo Saverin, the two college students set up the site as a small limited pool for Harvard and ex-Harvard students to connect with. Now, while that does little to persuade people who think it’s morally dubious, it was only the start – and given who set it up, those early beginnings shouldn’t be too surprising.

If you have ever watched the movie The Social Network, then you’ll know that the history and development of Facebook is hardly controversy-free. Before long, they had taken in just about every academic institution in America before, in 2006, they opened their doors to anyone over the age of 13 and with access to a valid e-mail address.

Before it was Facebook, though, it was TheFaceBook and, before that FaceMash. It was actually a bit crass at first; a “hot or not” game for Harvard students. While it was a bit of fun and helped to show off his coding qualities, it was an inauspicious start for what would soon become one of the most powerful corps in the world.

By 2008, growth was rapid and the site was now boosting an absolutely unbelievable 100m users. It’s interesting to note that since Facebook started, it has never dropped on a year-by-year user limit. Today, at the time of writing, come the end of 2016 Facebook had just over 1.86 BILLION users.

That kind of rapid growth is nigh-impossible to sustain, but it appears that Zuckerburg has found the secret. The website has changed constantly, with alterations coming from the way the site works to how its algorithms shows items in your timeline. While it’s never been plain sailing, with the 2012 Yahoo vs Facebook lawsuit being quite a major moment in the history of the site, Facebook has always maintained regular and rapid growth.

From its development of new story-based algorithms to changes to the news feed and various other alterations – including the latest “banning” of news sources it does not deem credible, Facebook has changed entirely. What started out as a simple social media site for universities soon became one of the strongest business empires on the planet.

With billions going through the site in ad revenue and marketing campaigns, the site has become more than just a social media platform. People run their entire businesses on Facebook; it has become a platform for news, drama, entertainment and so much more. Many don’t like what Facebook has become, but it’s hard to deny that it’s 14-year lifespan so far has been anything but dull.
