Horse Is On The Verge of Death, Until It’s Mate Saves the Day

Anyone who has ever followed or looked into the world of horse racing will probably not be shocked by this story. For animal lovers, though, the crass and horrifying way that horses are treated in the circuit is always a hard thing to learn.

Given that many horses that simply injure themselves or are no longer worth money to their masters are simply put down, the utterly inhumane nature of the treatment of horses is never a surprise – though it is a shock.

However, one story goes to show that many times these trigger-finger decisions are simply beyond the pale. Donald and Jane are two British farmers and, thankfully, have respect for these beautiful animals. However, one of their horses had fallen immensely ill and it was gradually getting to the point where survival was not going to be possible.

Close to their animals and especially their horses, the couple deliberated on what to do for a long period of time. As health deteriorated rapidly, however, Beatrice simply collapsed and showed no willingness – or ability – to be able to get back up to her feet. In desperate need of assistance, the couple was worried that the time had come for their beloved horse to meet its maker.

Organ failure is a common problem with horses, especially horses that wind up on the floor like this. Six hours passed as they tried everything they could to help her back up. Pulleys and straps were used to no avail, as the horse was simply too heavy to be able to move without any miracle assistance. Sadly, they ran out of ideas and decided they could only make one choice – give Beatrice an exit from this world with a touch of dignity.

Thankfully, a miracle happened. You know they say that our partners can give us strength when we’re at our weakest? That’s precisely what happened here. Beau, her partner, strode into the room and immediately decided to help Beatrice. Not satisfied with her ability, he started to nag and pull at her head using his teeth. After a while of doing this, it cajoled Beatrice into reacting and she eventually shot up to a stance!

The farmers themselves were dumbfounded at what they had just seen.

“We are used to seeing extraordinary interactions between the horses,” Jane explained, “but we have never witnessed a horse saving another’s life.”

In time, they were able to help Beatrice mull along to a full and complete recovery. Awesome, right? They were able to save her from a life of misery, pain and death. Now, it appears that B&B are happy together in their farm once again, and they can forget the whole thing ever happened!

Super Happy Dog Fired From Cops for Being Too Nice!?

Today, one of the most common problems that law enforcement has to deal with is one of perception. Put bluntly, people think the cops aren’t very nice. It’s all stemmed from a host of bad news stories from across the globe (though mostly in the US) that’s helped to paint the boys in blue in the most unflattering of lights. This story, though, only goes to reinforce the ‘harsh’ image of the police that society has today (not really).

When police dogs sign up to be part of the unit, they are expected to be tough, uncompromising competitors who’ll sink their teeth into, well, anything they’re told too!

However, when this little police dog joined up with the force to try and catch bad guys, there was a minor flaw in the plan. Despite supposedly doing a job that’s all about being ferocious and fearsome, this dog was simply too nice for the cops to be able to work with.

The dog, known as Gavel, is a cute little German Shepherd and is among the cutest police dogs we’ve ever seen. That, though, might just be the problem. What use is a police dog if it just wants to sniff butts and cuddle legs? They are supposed to be tough, uncompromising dogs. This member of the Queensland PD was simply not up to the job in terms of the fearsome nature required.

And is that really a bad thing?

Young Gavel would get very excited around just about any stranger, and would just go nuts at the prospect of spending time with just about anyone. So, it began to become a bit of an issue for the PD as, well, the training was kind of pointless. If he can’t catch criminals, he’s unfortunately not a lot of good to a police department. As beautiful and as loveable as he clearly is, he’s just not cut out for this kind of living.

According to the BBC, “Instead of tackling hardened criminals, the (dog) liked to meet strangers, and police in Australia felt he ‘did not display the necessary aptitude for a life on the front line,’”

Happily, though, our buddy isn’t going to be out of work for too long. He’s become the “Vice Regal Dog” of the Queensland Mansion. We’d actually say he’s lucked out; would you not rather be hanging around a mansion all day, surrounded by luxury, rather than hitting the mean streets and trying to deal with the dark underbelly of society? We know what we’d rather be doing!

Best of luck, Gavel!

The True Origin of Valentine’s Day May Surprise You

In the midst of the twentieth century, Valentine’s Day is celebrated by everyone, young or old. However, most of us do not know the significance of the history and origin of this day. It is important to get to know the initial blocks of this day.

Roots of Valentine’s Day go all the way back to Lupercalia, a Roman fertility festival held in mid of February.  Long ago, there was a cruel emperor who banned his soldiers from marrying as he believed singles made better soldiers. Father Valentine thought it was unjust to do so and it was people’s legal right to be loved and get married so he starting marrying the couples secretly. When the emperor came to know about this act, he imprisoned father valentine and sentenced him to death.

The young couples he married visited him in the prison cell and gave him flowers as a symbol of their gratitude. While in the prison Father Valentine fell in love with his jailer’s daughter. On February 14th, the day he was executed he wrote her a note and it was signed as “from your Valentine”. It is believed that Valentine’s Day is celebrated in the memory of Valentine who stood up in the name of love. The Valentine’s holiday was declared by Pope Gelasius in the 5thAD.

Cupid, Roman God of love, was famous for shooting his arrow to make people fall in love. Venus and Psyche were two sisters. Venus thought everyone loved psyche and not her so we went to Cupid to get love. Accidently cupid shot himself with his arrow and fell in love with Psyche.

In the 1300s the holiday was associated with showing love and romance. It was also believed that mid-February is the beginning of birds mating season. In the 15th century written valentines greetings emerged and by the 17th century, people in the UK started sending cards and letters to their loved ones. The day soon started to celebrate in the US as well. In 1840’s mass production of valentine cards began.

Today, approximately 1 billion Valentine’s Day cards are sent every year, being second only to Christmas cards. Heart shaped chocolate boxes and Red roses are also sold in a large quantity. Approximately 35 million the former and 220 million the later. Expensive gifts like jewelry are also gifted on this day. People buy rings and propose their loved ones on the 14th February. Many people get engaged on this day.

Valentine’s Day is based on the idea to spread love and happiness around. It’s not just to show love to your significant others but love can be shown to the parents and siblings as well. Celebrate the day of giving.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

5 Love Song You’d Never Want to Dedicate to Anyone

Valentine’s Day is coming and you might be surfing the internet to find the perfect love song to play on your date when you will propose your girl. Trying hard to make it like a Hollywood movie scene. Or you might just want to dedicate it to your significant other. All websites are full of sweet playlists to dedicate to your loved ones, so you probably don’t need another one.

So here is our list of 5 love songs that you are better off never dedicating to anyone and why. So let’s begin!

    1. “Little Things” by

This song talks about a girl who is perfect, yet it contradicts itself in many ways as it discusses all the imperfections of the girl. As Harry Styles sings: “You never want to know how much you weigh, you still have to squeeze into your jeans but you’re perfect to me.” Like seriously, indirectly you are calling your girl fat. Playing or dedicating this song can get things go terribly wrong.

    1. “Crash into me” by Dave Matthews Band

As the name suggests the song isn’t clean for sure. Dave has been a man with a melodious voice. This song goes well off the start but we have no idea what happened next. “Hike up your skirt a little more and show your world to me.” Well Dave, the world is outside the skirt, don’t act like a pervert. This song can never be a good idea to send to your loved ones, however it can get featured in the next fifty shade’s movie.

    1. “I just called to say I love you” by Stevie Wonder

Stevie wonder has sung many great songs previously but this 1984 smash wasn’t a good one, not to be offending but a terrible one in fact. It sounds as if Steve made a call but the telephone connection was too bad and it made his voice unbearable. Sorry, nobody wants to hear “I love you” with that voice.

    1. “Longer” by Dan Fogelberg

As the name suggests the song took too long to finish, as if I had been stuck in the time. Fogelberg told in an interview that he wrote this song in a relaxed environment in Hawaii. Well we agree to that, if you start listening to this song wide awake, eventually you will get too relaxed and even sleep before the song finishes. Took “longer” than expected to finish.

    1. “You’re Beautiful” by James Blunt

Where do I start from? The wacky melody, the unbearable video or the radio voice? Damn, James got no chill when he decided to make this song. What he actually intended was to make it a number 1 song of the century. Number 1 from the bottom of the list for sure.

So this was the list of love songs which you would never want to listen or dedicate to your loved ones. We have given you a warning now the choice is yours.

Pre-Valentine’s Guide: How to Turn Down a Second Date

As Valentine’s Day is approaching, love is in the air. However, last time your date didn’t go so well and you might be wondering why that is so? At times we meet someone and enjoy the time we share with them, however, they are not lasting-love material. You might have felt the connection but he/she wasn’t “the one” for you due to several reasons. And that’s okay.

Finding love isn’t easy, you can date several people but if you don’t feel comfortable enough you don’t have to fake it. The other person should not be betrayed and you have to come up with what you hold in your heart. Ignoring the person isn’t a good option, you might think that if you ignore the person they will drift away with time. However, this might not be the case, the person’s emotional state will be drained in this process and will hurt him a lot. Coming out and finishing everything once and for all in a friendly way is the best option. This will hurt them in the short term but will be better for both of you in the long term.

If you don’t have feelings for them, this the time when you let them know before it’s too late and they approach you again on the Valentine’s Day. Let’s not drag things and complicate them even more. Be straightforward and let them know the truth. Don’t tell them to be friends with you after you break up because this might raise up their hopes once again.

You can take out time to meet the person and tell them the truth or just take a few minutes to text them on phone. Here is a list of ways to help finish nicely with a bad date which won’t hurt either of the sides.

  1. It was great meeting you, but I didn’t feel any chemistry between us.
  2. I had a good time but I got more of a friend vibe coming from you.
  3. We had a fun date, but I just did not feel we fit well together.
  4. You seem pleasing, but I didn’t feel a spark between us.
  5. I don’t see this in route to a serious relationship and that’s what I’m looking for this year.
  6. I really appreciate the chance to get to know you, but I should be true that I don’t see us get along in future.
  7. I respect you so I want to be straightforward that even though we had a nice time, I don’t see this going anywhere.
  8. You’re a catch, but sadly, not my catch.
  9. You deserve someone better than me, I hope you will get one soon.
  10. Thanks for taking the time to get together. I wish there was something more between us, but unfortunately, I only had friendly feelings.

So this is how you can end nicely without hurting or offending the other person, its okay to reject someone, its natural.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

70mph Down The Hill On a Longboard. Crazy!

The world of extreme sport is certainly an interesting venue to stand and watch for those who engage in it. For those who don’t partake in such activity, though, the people who are doing this can often seem like uncaged lunatics. To put yourself in all of that trouble and risk, the logic goes, is simply dangerous and encourages others to take the same reckless approach to life.

Now, while we’d be inclined to disagree with such a conservative outlook, this video is pretty nuts. Zak Maytum is a native to Boulder, Colorado, and is no stranger to facing up to danger and risky experiences. This one shows you how he takes his own madness and appreciation for taking risks in life to a whole new level, though.

Watch the video, and you’ll see an expert in longboarding take on some pretty nifty tricks as he flies down the slope. It’s a very interesting video to watch and should definitely give you a taster of the kind of experience that this was.

It’s a fun experience, and given that he ends up going faster than some cars as he picks up pace (rapidly), it shows you his immense control of the board to be able to control it and avoid any kind of incident. It’s a very interesting video and can also be a good showcase of just how much speed one can pick up when using a board of this style.

The adrenaline rush I got from even just watching this video was nuts. While I had full confidence that our hero would get to the end without a scratch, there were few moments during the video where I wasn’t watching through the cracks in my fingers!

It’s a very interesting ride and might also make a wonderful showcase to show how crazy skaters can be. While most people see it as a dull sport that isn’t very fast-paced, this can be the perfect showcase to show just how wrong that assumption is.

Watch this video and let us know if you have ever seen something so nuts. If you know anyone who reckons they are extreme, too, post this to them and let them see just how far they need to go to be up there with the wildest people in this world!

Hey! It’s Facebook’s Birthday

Just last week we celebrated 14 years of Facebook life. For many, it’s a major part of history that has helped to shape and forge the very society in which we live in. For others, it’s another step towards authoritarian watching of every man, woman and child on the planet. While you likely may sit somewhere in the middle of these two wildly contrasting views, it’s safe to say that you’ve heard of Facebook, right?

We would just like to say a nice (belated) happy birthday to Facebook. Facebook was ‘born’ on the 4th February 2004, when it was founded by Mark Zuckerberg. Alongside Eduardo Saverin, the two college students set up the site as a small limited pool for Harvard and ex-Harvard students to connect with. Now, while that does little to persuade people who think it’s morally dubious, it was only the start – and given who set it up, those early beginnings shouldn’t be too surprising.

If you have ever watched the movie The Social Network, then you’ll know that the history and development of Facebook is hardly controversy-free. Before long, they had taken in just about every academic institution in America before, in 2006, they opened their doors to anyone over the age of 13 and with access to a valid e-mail address.

Before it was Facebook, though, it was TheFaceBook and, before that FaceMash. It was actually a bit crass at first; a “hot or not” game for Harvard students. While it was a bit of fun and helped to show off his coding qualities, it was an inauspicious start for what would soon become one of the most powerful corps in the world.

By 2008, growth was rapid and the site was now boosting an absolutely unbelievable 100m users. It’s interesting to note that since Facebook started, it has never dropped on a year-by-year user limit. Today, at the time of writing, come the end of 2016 Facebook had just over 1.86 BILLION users.

That kind of rapid growth is nigh-impossible to sustain, but it appears that Zuckerburg has found the secret. The website has changed constantly, with alterations coming from the way the site works to how its algorithms shows items in your timeline. While it’s never been plain sailing, with the 2012 Yahoo vs Facebook lawsuit being quite a major moment in the history of the site, Facebook has always maintained regular and rapid growth.

From its development of new story-based algorithms to changes to the news feed and various other alterations – including the latest “banning” of news sources it does not deem credible, Facebook has changed entirely. What started out as a simple social media site for universities soon became one of the strongest business empires on the planet.

With billions going through the site in ad revenue and marketing campaigns, the site has become more than just a social media platform. People run their entire businesses on Facebook; it has become a platform for news, drama, entertainment and so much more. Many don’t like what Facebook has become, but it’s hard to deny that it’s 14-year lifespan so far has been anything but dull.

Meryl Streep Wants to Trademark Her Own Name

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Meryl Streep, the most celebrated actress of her generation, has filed an application to trademark her name.

The application was filed with U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on Jan. 22, records show. It requests that the name Meryl Streep be trademarked for “entertainment services,” movie appearances, speaking engagements and autographs.

Streep, 68, last week extended her record to 21 Academy Award nominations, this time for her role in “The Post.” She has won three Oscars, three Emmys and six Golden Globes during her 40-year long career on stage, screen and television.

It is not clear why Streep would file a trademark application at this stage in her career and her attorney and publicist did not return a request for comment on Monday.

Many celebrities trademark their names or catch phrases to protect their intellectual property, stop other people using them without permission, or to earn cash from products bearing their name.

Taylor Swift has filed some 60 trademark applications in the last 10 years, according to Patent Office records, including for phrases from her songs including “This Sick Beat” and “Nice to meet you. Where you been?” for use on clothing, hair accessories and notebooks.

Streep last week joined the cast of HBO’s award-winning drama series “Big Little Lies” for its second season. She will play the mother of Alexander Skarsgard’s character.

Our 2018 Grammy Predictions

With the Grammy Awards just around the corner now, we’re sure to see some rather interesting shouts. This year we expect there to be some shocks among the 70 categories, but also some obvious picks given artist performances in certain parts of the industry. That being said, we know that this year’s Grammy Awards, the 60th edition of the award, has a lot of people looking for some ideas on who might win.

While nothing is guaranteed (which is all part of the fun, right?) we expect there to be a few shocks and surprise winners this year. Let’s take a look at some of the predictions we’ve been able to come up with for this years Grammys, and then we can all come back and see how well we did on the 28th, shall we?

Record of the Year: HUMBLE

While this one is sure to be quite a crowded party, with everyone from Lorde to Jay-Z likely to have a major chance of winning, we expect that HUMBLE will come out the other side. He’s likely to face some stiff competition from the rejuvenated and more experienced Jay-Z, but we reckon he’ll win this one without too much trouble.

The fact it was one of the records this year to really bring a different kind of energy and a unique concept to the table certainly gives it a good chance of winning this major award.

Best New Artist: SZA

While it would be a bit of a shock if she managed to take it home, this – arguably the other of the three main categories – could be a major win for her. She’s absolutely blown onto the scene with a booming voice that just demands respect, and her debut album has been so well received. With a lot of good releases in 2017 she definitely has some major competition, but we reckon she’ll come out the other side with a major win.

It’s probably the best new release of the year, in our opinion, and her explosive opening to a career that is sure to last for a long time has immediately made her a favorite for this major award.

Who do you think will scoop up in the three above? Any other calls for some of the more specific categories?

Like Duh…

Song of the Year: Despacito

We might not fully agree that is the song of the year, but it’s the one we think will come out the other side with the votes. It’s been a majorly overplayed hit, sure, but the fact it’s inspired so many cheap takes and essentially poor knock-off versions of the song ever since means it’s likely to get the SOTY thanks to the kind of legacy appeal of the song

The one cool thing about this likely being the winner is the fact it’s in a foreign language. As far as we’re aware, given they take the songwriters quality into consideration mostly for SOTY, it would be the first winner of this title in a language other than English.

The Best Shows Coming (And Returning) This Week

TV lovers, it’s time to relax. After what has felt like a bit of a barren period, it feels like we might be starting 2018 off with a bit of a bang. As move into the last weeks of January, if you love to saddle up on the couch and watch some top TV shows you can enjoy the quality that comes with January’ usual premieres.

Let’s take a look at some of the more engaging releases to be coming out this week on TV, as well as some favorites which are making their long-awaited return.

    • Monday will see The Alienist Premiere on TVs, so if you want to learn a bit more about this awesome TV series you should take a look. It’s a very deep thriller show that is set around a Police Commissioner employed by Teddy Roosevelt to try and solve a series of outrageous murders. If you’ve ever read the Caleb Carr books they are based on, you’ll probably love this one.

    • Tuesday should see you head on over to FX and enjoy some Baskets, a comical TV show that certainly takes some very interesting steps to be quite controversial. It first premiered in 2016 and has been a big hit ever since, based on the story of Chip Baskets as he tries to make it as a classical French clown. As you might imagine, its’ full of comical failure!

    • Wednesday has the rather interesting WACO waiting for you. It’s based on the raid of the religious community near Waco, Texas, which led to a 51-day stand-off between both sides. Certainly a TV show we’d recommend looking into especially as this will be the premiere of the show.

    • Thursday has something for those who like a bit of odd entertainment in the form of RuPaul’ Drag Race All Stars. This is the third season of a show that first came out in 2012, and is VERY interesting. Queens will work against one another to eliminate the opposition and make their chance to ascend to the top of the pile possible. Who will win?

    • Friday has the amusing Jane the Virgin; an interesting TV show about someone growing up trying to avoid the life pitfalls that her teen mother fell into. Of course, while she’s supposed to be a virgin, waiting for detective husband and herself to marry before making the move, but that turns out to not really be the case…an interesting watch for sure!

There’s a lot of cool TV shows returning or starting up for the first time. January is often a bit of a gold mine for some new TV shows, so if you would like to expand your horizons you should look to do so with the help of this simple TV guide. These are some of our top picks for TV shows worth paying attention to across the next week or so.

Celebrities Who Married Ordinary People. This Time: Gal Gadot

Love can conquer anything, or so the saying goes. And while some would disagree, Gal Gadot proves that love can help cross any borders, even when two people come from such very different worlds. Gal, like others, found her love, not in the spotlight, which could be an omen to a good long relationship.

It also gives hope to all single ladies and men that you might find yourself in the spotlight if love finds you.

Gal Gadot and Businessman Yaron Versano

Gal Gadot has burst on the Hollywood scene this past year, proving herself a Wonder Woman both on and off screen. Her adorable husband caught our attention when he shared a photo of himself wearing a t-shirt reading ‘Your wife – My wife’ – you need to see the picture (above).

Like other celebrities who found love with “ordinary” people, Gal and Yaron keep to themselves and try to separate their lives to not complicate things.

I’m the real wonder

You have to wonder who the man is who has the heart of a real-life Wonder Woman, and indeed, Versano is one impressive guy. A successful Israeli businessman, these two met at an Israeli party. Gal describes the trippy experience “It was all about yoga, chakras, and eating healthy — we didn’t exactly find ourselves there, but we found each other,” and that’s a big part of why she fell for him.”

Now come and see who else fell in love with people who are not famous as they are

R.I.P – Dolores O’Riordan. Miss You Already

Singer and songwriter, Dolores O’Riordan joins the list of celebrities who died young (46). Her death was announced in London and the cause of death is yet to be determined.
Brought up in the Ballybricken area of County Limerick in Ireland, Dolores O’Riordan is the smallest of seven children born to Terrence and Eileen O’Ridoran.

O’Riordan was an Irish singer, musician, and songwriter. She led the Rockband The Cranberries for thirteen years after which the band took a break and reunited in 2009. She was born on the 6th of September 1971 and died on Monday, 15th January, 2018.
‘Are you listening’ was Dolores O’Riordan first solo album and was released in May 2017, she followed that up with ‘No Baggage’ in 2019. O’Riordan was known for her lilting mezzo-soprano voice, for yodeling and for her strong Limerick accent. She appeared as a judge on RTÉ’s The Voice of Ireland during the 2013–14 season and in April 2014, O’Riordan joined Jetlag (later called D.A.R.K.) and began recording new material (Wikipedia).

A statement released by the Cranberries band reads “Irish and international singer Dolores O’Riordan has died suddenly in London today. She was 46 years old. The lead singer with the Irish band The Cranberries was in London for a short recording session.” The release went on to state that family and friends are in shock of the news and request privacy ”at this difficult time”.
No cause of death has been released as at the time of reporting. Police in London says a woman in her 40s has been found dead in her hotel room on Monday morning and the death is ‘unexplained’.

Reacting to the news, the Irish president, Michael Higgins said in a statement, “It is with great sadness that I have learned of the death of Dolores O’Riordan, musician, singer and songwriter. Dolores O’Riordan and The Cranberries had an immense influence on rock and pop music in Ireland and internationally. I recall with fondness the late Limerick TD Jim Kemmy’s introduction of her and The Cranberries to me, and the pride he and so many others took in their successes. To all those who follow and support Irish music, Irish musicians and the performing arts her death will be a big loss.”

The Cranberries, under the watch of Dolores O’Riordan, released five albums: Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We? (1993), No Need to Argue (1994), To the Faithful Departed (1996), Bury the Hatchet (1999) and Wake Up and Smell the Coffee (2001) and a greatest-hits compilation entitled Stars: The Best of 1992–2002 (2002), before they went on hiatus in 2003.
In 2006, Dolores was listed among the top 10 richest women in the Republic of Ireland. The singer has three children.

As news of her death broke, the Music Industry has been sending in their condolences and social media is talking about the untimely demise of the great singer.
It will be worthy to note that The Cranberries canceled tour dates in 2017 citing the ill health of Dolores O’Riordan, saying ”medical reasons associated with a back problem”. Dolores was diagnosed as bipolar in 2014.

Dolores Mary O’Riordan died at the age of 46. May her soul rest in peace, and her music live forever.
