If you have even a slightest interest or inclination to read the news, you might have seen the massive fires in LA, Venture, and San Diego. These fires have been roaring across these counties and the damage has become pretty hard to understand. It’s threatened millions of lives and displaced so many locals, but the wildlife has been majorly affected by this as well. It’s part of their planet, too, after all, and this massive fire shows no signs of slowing down.
There’s awesome video footage of people driving capturing the sky turning red as the inferno deepens, and it shows a really clear example of how dangerous these events can be. In tough times, though, we often see heroes being born and amazing acts of heroism and kindness that really stretches far and wide.
As the fire department works to try and stem the flames and keep it from spreading too far, though, the communities in these counties have been doing their bit as well. One story that emerged, for example, was of one brave soul getting out of his car to help a tiny wild bunny rabbit who was in dire straits.
While the fires are slowly but surely being defeated, the heart-warming image of a man putting his own safety at risk to help protect a precious little rabbit is a truly memorable image. Footage appeared at first because people were wondering why someone had stopped his car and got out at the side of the ride in the midst of an inferno. Everyone else is trying to escape, so why would he decide to get out of his car and go investigate the fire so close?
Is he nuts!?
As the fire spread at a rapid pace around Santa Barbara County, this hero gets out of his car the side of the road and decides to try and save the little rabbit from the flames. Fumbling at first and trying to get the obviously terrified little thing to come with him, he eventually coaxes the little rabbit into his hand and takes it to safety at the side of the road.
Best of all? He didn’t even want to be interviewed. Many people would use this opportunity to get themselves a bit of extra publicity, but the decision to avoid any kind of heroism for his good work. Watch as he chases it along the ground and nearly falls into the flames himself as he eventually takes it to safety and makes sure it isn’t going to be at risk from the inferno any longer.
This man is a fine example of the kind-hearted nature that so often we forget is a prevalent part of the human mind.
