New Google Calendar Update Helps With Reshuffling Meetings.

Google is making it easier to reschedule meetings on Calendar — and avoid all that unnecessary Slack chatter — with a new feature that lets participants propose alternative times from within the app itself. The organizer of the meeting is then given the option to review and accept the new time or reject it. All attendees’ availability windows, if their calendars are shared with co-workers, will also now be displayed in a side-by-side view, so it’s easier to propose times that work with everyone’s schedules.

When a user is invited to a Calendar event, they can respond “Yes,” “No,” Maybe,” and now, “Propose a new time.” If calendar access permissions have been granted, guests can see the other attendees’ availability side by side, so they can suggest a time that works for everyone. All that is done in order to cut down on the amount of work it takes to reshuffle a meeting.

“This allows for richer communication between attendees, reduces time spent on meeting practicalities, and makes meetings more productive with key stakeholders in attendance,” reads the company’s blog post. This new feature will also let users add a message if they choose to in order to give some context around the rescheduling.

The feature should be available for all web users of Google Calendar starting today but will take time until it will be available to mobile users, they will have to wait until Aug 13th.

Century’s Longest Lunar Eclipse Happening This Weekend

This Friday, July 27, the earth will cast a shadow over the full moon  For almost two hours,  103 minutes to be exact, the usually silvery moon will turn blood red and ochre. It will be the longest “blood moon” lunar eclipse of the 21st century, lasting 26 minutes longer than the last total lunar eclipse that happened in January.

There are good news and bad news though, the good news is that unlike other eclipses this one will be visible to almost everyone around the globe. The bad news is that people in North America will not be able to see it at all (save for a slice of Newfoundland, Canada).

Sadly, by the time night falls in North America,  the eclipse will already have ended. The moon will have finished traversing Earth’s shadow, or umbra. The next time people in North America will be able to see a Lunar eclipse will be January 21, 2019.

For those that live in any other continent  all you have to do in order to see this natural marvel is to go outside at 17:14 Universal time (1:14 pm ET) and look for the moon. That’s when the partial phase of the eclipse starts. The full eclipse begins at 19:30 UTC and as stated before will last a full hour and 43 minutes! (Check out precisely when the eclipse will occur where you live on TimeandDate.com.)

If for some reason you can not go outside during this time you can of course stream the event, it is 2018 after all. The astronomy education website Slooh will live-stream coverage of the eclipse starting at 1 pm Eastern on July 27. Watch it right here.

For those who can’t wait here is a time laps video of the previous blood moon:

Wow: See The 2018 NG Photo of the Year Winner

For some time now, the world has been captured in ever-increasingly better detail. As we get access to sharper and more specific photography options, we can snapshots that previously would simply have not been possible.

The National Geographic Photo of the Year competition is one of the best ways to help you fully appreciate and understand this yourself.

From amazing shots of cities and skylines to underwater captures of amazing whales, you’ll find something for every kind of personal opportunity. In the end, the winner was to be Reiko Takahashi. Reiko managed to find some amazing shots, including a mesmeric tail-side shot of a humpback whale just off of Kumejima Island. She named it “Mermaid” and it managed to win the competition.

This gave Reiko both natural acclaim for her shot, and a nice $10,000 in the pocket for her troubles. Since she recently left her office job to get under the waves and capture amazing shots, that must feel pretty damn good!

Speaking about it, Reiko said: “It was a special scene for me, to be able to take a photo of the calf, completely relaxed in gentle waters,

“Most of the time, the calf stayed close to her mom. At one point, the calf began jumping and tapping its tail on the water near us—it was very friendly and curious. Finally, the mother, who was watching nearby, came to pick up the calf and swim away. I fell in love completely with the calf and it’s very energetic, large and beautiful tail.”

The Power of Imagery

You should definitely take a look at some of the other category winners, too. Top photos were chosen for each of the three categories, with Hiro Kurashina of Japan winning the “Cities” award ad Alessandra Meniconzi of Switzerland won the “People” award. They took $2,500 home each.

Some of the shots are truly special, with even some of the runners-up giving you a genuine appreciation of the beauty of the world that we live within. The Cities winner, “Another Rainy Day in Nagasaki, Kyushu” perfectly encapsulates the beautiful yet somewhat damp nature of life in Nagasaki.

Meanwhile, the Peoples winner, “Tea Culture” is the perfect capture of a truly special part of a culture. Be sure to take a look at the winners and runners-up on the official site: you will be able to get some truly special images to inspire yourself by.

Who knows, you might even take up photography and enter yourself next year!

Apple Soon to Be Worth $1 Trillion

There have been so many speculations about Apple’s real worth, and soon we will not need to make any more guesses because Apple will soon be declared the first Company to be valued at $1 trillion. Well, if things continue to go as planned.

According to the reports, the current value of Apple is $940 billion. It is only a matter of months before a huge achievement will be recorded by the company. This is great news for investors; we expect a rush for Apple’s shares while efforts will be made to manage the stock price from rising too high.

The future of Apple was quite uncertain after the passing of Steve Jobs in 2011, but since Tim Cook took over the reins of the company, there has been an appreciation in the company’s value by an estimated $300bn.

So while Apple leads the pack at the moment, let’s have a look at some other companies that have been recorded immense increment in their value. From tech giants to oils businesses, the list goes across companies that have built a solid reputation in their markets. There is Aramco to watch; the Saudi Oil Business is projected to be valued at $2 trillion after its public offer next year. We are also looking at Amazon, Google, Facebook, etc. these companies are expected to declare high figure in the coming year.

Apparently, a bulk of this weight lies in the tech industry. After suffering a hit in 2002, the stocks of tech companies have regained a massive momentum in the global markets. The characteristic trend among these tech companies is steady growth, innovation, and a continuing struggle to stay ahead of the competition. From this perspective, we can expect more profits to be made while these companies deploy their best marketing plans to attract more customers.

Apparently, the marketing dynamics have been in favor of the tech companies. Technology is being widely accepted, and there is a demand for more features which customers are willing to pay for in new products.

Apple has indicated its interests in continuing along the line of providing more software services in addition to the sales of smartphones. Is this a response to the fall in sales figures for smartphones? However, it will be a good strategy if the users are not willing to buy new phones, but they want more software for their old smartphones.

Confirming this new trend, Tim Cook in his statement said that the revenue generated from the App store and other services such as Apple music, iCloud service, and the new Apple Pay service have been exceptional. While it is an indication that the Apple customers remain loyal and committed, the revenue generated indicates the main interests of the customers.

There is a lot Apple can do for its huge user base. The addition of more value can increase the global patronage of all its services. Focusing on developing and improving other highly demanded services will also have a positive impact on iPhone sales.

We anticipate a lot of new additions in the iOS 12; if our speculations are right, the new operating system will introduce App upgrades and new features that will impress the customers.

We are so excited about the future, the global tech industry looks set for a ‘showdown,’ while Apple may be the first tech company to achieve the $1 trillion valuation, we are hearing about great things happening in the Chinese tech industry regarding smartphones, software, Apps and other tech-based services similar to what Apple is offering. Will brand loyalties be tested? In a few months, we will know exactly what the options provide.
