Gorgeous Kids And Their Celebrity Parents

“The Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree” — a saying as old as time itself. And while spotting a child who is a carbon copy of their parent is always a little freaky, these celebs whose children are their splitting image have the whole world exclaiming “Wow!”

Gal Gadot & Alma

We’re proud to include this strong beauty into our list. Crowned Miss Israel of 2004, Gadot has bloomed into a multinational icon of girl power. As the cliche goes, she has it all, and her daughter Alma, as it seems, has received her genes from Gal.

Alma, Gal‘s oldest, has her exact beautiful and strong eyes and smile. Gal said in an interview not long ago, “Alma, I’ll tell you, she’s the best thing that ever happened to me.” Alma was present in some of Wonder Woman’s scenes in the movie, as Gal was already pregnant during filming. Gadot said that many scenes needed to be changed later on with special effects to hide her belly.

Man Saves Life By Watching The Office

A guy from Arizona was in a situation where he had to try out life lessons which he learned from watching The Office. This life lesson came from an unlikely source – a fictional character – Michael Scott.

The very real Chris Scott rushed in to save the day when he saw a driver slam herself on her car’s steering wheel. The 21-year-old rushed over to the car, then broke the car’s window in order to get the woman out. This woman was on the verge of losing her life, as her lips were already turning blue.

Stain’ Alive

And with no pre-knowledge in first aid, Cross remembered one episode in The Office where Michael Scott administered CPR to a dummy with Bee Gee’s Stayin’ Alive playing in the background. According to various sources, at 103-beats per minute, the number one song from the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack is assumed to be the correct tempo for carrying out chest compressions.

After about a minute, Cross’s lessons from The Office made a huge impact, the woman began to breathe again, after which she threw up and was taken to the hospital where she regained her health.

Cross explained too, that he was still unaware of the correct way to administer CPR, but the lessons from the show helped him maintain the right tempo.

In Cross’s very words: “I still have no idea how to do CPR – all The Office gave me was a song tempo to go to.” In spite of Cross’s inexperience with first aid, and according to paramedics, there is a great chance that the woman – Claire as identified by local media – would have been in a rather hopeless situation if Cross didn’t step in.

Cross went on to give a shout out to two other women who did their bit in saving Claire’s life by calling 911.

Research: Your Brain Has Two Clocks

One of those clocks relies on our memories of past experiences and the other on rhythm.  They are both critical to our ability to navigate and enjoy the world and our surroundings.

You have to be able to calculate when you move, anticipate the timing of future events, and adjust your attention and actions when needed.

According to a new UC Berkeley research, the neural networks that support each of these clocks are split between two different areas of the brain depending on what you need to accomplish.

Timing Is Not A United Process

It doesn’t matter if it’s music, sports, speech or allocating attention, the study suggests that timing is not a united process.

There are two different ways you can make temporal predictions and they depend on different areas of the brain, according to lead author Assaf Breska, a postdoctoral researcher in neuroscience at UC Berkeley.

When working together, both brain systems will allow you to exist at the moment and anticipate the future as well. Both Breska and Richard Ivry a UC Berkeley neuroscientist studied anticipatory timing strength and deficits of people with Parkinson’s and people with cerebellar degeneration.

It revealed that if one of these neutral clocks is not working properly, the other will step in. The study also revealed that the context of neurological patients that are impaired can adjust their surroundings to interact better in the world.

The brain uses two different mechanisms for anticipatory timing which challenges theories that a single brain system handles all our needs.  Results from their studies suggest there are at least two different ways the brain has evolved to anticipate the future.

The rhythm-based system is sensitive to periodic events such as inherent in speech and music.  An interval system offers a more general anticipatory ability that is sensitive to temporal regularities even in the absence of a rhythmic signal.

One of those clocks relies on our memories of past experiences and the other on rhythm.  They are both critical to our ability to navigate and enjoy the world and our surroundings.

Check It Out: 10 Surprising Elevators

A lot can happen in an elevator – or very little. Typically, it’s one of the most boring parts of your days – especially if you work in a high-rise or live in an apartment building. Sometimes you’re stuck in there alone from the first floor to the very top with nothing to do in this small, enclosed space.

Other times, you get stuck in there for such a duration with someone you know but never talk to. Welcome to five minutes of awkward silence or hesitant pleasantries.

Don’t get me wrong, the elevator is much better than walking up all those flights of stairs, but at times it can also be hugely inconvenient – if it’s one of those elevators that never seems to work – or just plain boring or awkward.

That is, until you get on one of these twenty elevators designed by some unique people who were tired of the typical elevator experience.

Check it out:

1) To keep the elderly patients from feeling anxious or, worse, running away, this long-term care facility for the elderly thought making the elevators into a mural would be a good idea.

Now, it just looks like a warm, inviting scene!

2) This designer must have been wishing for a snow day and decided to make his own. Step into a winter wonderland with evergreens and snow angels. It feels like Christmas every time you need to go up or down!

3) Wait, where are the buttons? Don’t worry; you’re not trapped. Just look down, and kick instead of pushing buttons, like any ordinary elevator would have you do.

Maybe get some of that pent up anger out while you’re at it, too!

4) This designer had emergency situations in mind. What an inventive way to take care of medical emergencies that cause one to land on the ground, unable to rise!

The alarm button located by the floor is accessible in any situation.

5) Now we’re going from winter wonderland to the tropics. Dive into this elevator that seems to take you under the sea as it’s surrounded by a giant aquarium.

I’d never take the stairs again in this German building.

6) The elevator up to the top of the World Trade Centre is one-of-a-kind.

While you’re in the clear elevator, you’re also getting a clear picture of the architectural evolution of the city as you head up.

7) If you’re self-conscious about your weight, you may want to take the stairs instead of this elevator.

The elevator provides a digital visual aid to alert its riders of how close it is to reaching its weight capacity. Smart!

8) Now this is probably my personal favorite. The button is located 30 feet away from the elevator so that, by the time you arrive at the doors, it should be ready to receive you!

Good for impatient, always-in-a-rush people like me.

9) Whether you struggle with memory loss or you can’t even remember what day it is after what just happened last night, this hotel in Ukraine has got your back.

Every morning, they change the elevator rug to let riders know what day it is.

10) Now this is a bit hilarious; I wonder what prompted the need for a “shuffle” button in an elevator.

The elderly? Indecisive people? Who knows! Definitely the first time I’ve had the option to shuffle off of an elevator without getting stuck in the doors.

A lot can happen in an elevator – or very little. Typically, it’s one of the most boring parts of your days – especially if you work in a high-rise or live in an apartment building. Sometimes you’re stuck in there alone from the first floor to the...

She then started dating Ben Affleck, and they broke up a day before they planned to exchange nuptials. She finally married Marc Anthony and had twins. Don’t worry, she divorced Anthony as well, though he stuck to her for almost a decade.

She since entertained an off-on relationship with Casper Smart and has recently started dating former MLB star, Alex Rodriguez. What a list! As we said, we just hope her children’s love life will be simpler.

Student Finds World Class Car in Grandmothers Garage

When living the life of a student, you need to find money – and fast. Money is hard to come by in the hours after studying, but you’ve gotta pay for the weekend somehow, right? That’s why cleaning out at your grandparents is always a decent way to get money for a few beers. However, it’s not often that when you go along to help out with your grandmother that you find something of genuine value during cleaning.

From an old vinyl to some wartime memorabilia, you might something cool. At best, you might help make a few bucks for your grandparents – and they might help you in on the reward. However, how often do you walk into the garage of a grandmother and find an untouched Lamborghini!?

That’s what happened to Eriegin, who took on the task of cleaning out her grandmother’ garage. Her grandfather had sadly passed on, and cleaning out a garage with the best part of 20 years of clutter was going to be a challenging starting point. However, she did have an inkling that they might find some good value to put light on what is obviously a tragic circumstance. What she did find, though, was quite different to what anyone might have expected.

Finding the time to do something special

While we described at the top that many students help out for money, it’s clear that Eriegin was doing this to be kind. Her grandfather had passed on, leaving her grandmother in need of a lot of help. Reading over documents and looking at the financial situation of her grandparents made her feel worried: without a material change in circumstance, her grandmother might not be able to stay at home forever.

So, she got to work, hoping to both help get the place tidied up and hoping to find something that would be worth a few bucks. Pulling back a big section of tarp, she stood, amazed, at what was at in front of her – a fresh, untouched Lamborghini.

This was among the rarest cars on the planet, too – a 1982 LP500S Lamborghini Countach!

Undriven, in good (though by no means perfect) condition and also totally ready to be sold on, this was a tremendous find. And better yet? There was a Ferrari 308 next to it!

Instead of selling these rare cars back in the day, it was clear that her grandfather had held on to them with good reason. In a flash, their financial fears were put away into the distance, with offers made on both vehicles despite their condition issues.

While in perfect condition they could probably make you close to a millionaire, these amazing strokes of luck turned the tragedy of loss and the worry of financial deprivation into a feel-good story that, at the very last, had a happy ending after the loss of what was clearly a very intelligent, caring man.

Yummy: Most Expensive Meals In The World

When we live in a world of haves and have-nots, stories like this can always feel a bit grim. You know, stories about luxurious foods that cost more than the average person earns in a month. It’s a dreadful state of affairs and only helps to perpetuate the idea that those with all the money don’t have a clue how to spend it properly. Anyway, I digress. You are here because you want to read about quality food items.

Well, the world knows how to price its luxury foods. Want some examples? Here are a few grotesquely priced delights.

Vanilla Flower

I know what you are thinking – but you have lots of vanilla ice cream in the freezer. At around $4,000 per pound, vanilla costs a huge amount. It only blooms for a few hours in a year, and does not leave much by way of pollination.

Vanilla itself is a very expensive product – the idea that you can get it so easily is quite a surprise given the cost of it per pound in its purest form.

Almas Caviar

A classic of the ‘it cost how much!?’ food world, Almas caviar is horrendously expensive. You would be paying as much as $25,000 for this kind of caviar. It’s needle in a haystack stuff to find it, even in its native Iran. The fact it comes in a 24-karat gold tin lets you know just how ridiculous the world has gone when it comes to how we spend.

White Truffles

At not far off seven grand for a kilogram of white truffles, these outrageous foods are one of the most expensive in the world. They are used in the highest quality of fishes, and only tiny amounts will be used such is their rarity, cost and, most importantly, quality.

It’s one of those foods that, you may be surprised to know, I have never tried. Apparently, though, it’s dynamite with scrambled eggs. It looks rancid, but apparently tastes like royalty.

Bluefin Tuna

Another very popular dish but madly priced is that of the Bluefin tuna. At close to $4,000 for a single pound of it, Bluefin is a very expensive product. It gets used in a lot of top meals and tends to be a very expensive add-on if you were to want it used in your food.

However, given the Bluefin tuna is a species getting close to extinction as it stands, it’s not just an expensive dish to eat – it’s an ethical hazard, too.

Densuke Watermelon

One of the most expensive items that we could find, though, is the Japanese Densuke watermelon. This item sold for over $6,000 at an auction in Japan, and became a huge talking point. This black watermelon isn’t rotten or anything like that – it’s a unique kind of Japanese fruit.

It might seem a bit nuts, but the Densuke watermelon is among the most expensive dishes that you could ever eat.

Foie Gras

Out of all the items we looked into, though, we found that Foie Gras – duck/goose liver – was among the most expensive. It’s extremely nice apparently, but it’s going to cost you a hell of a lot to eat if you want to try it out. Prices depend on where you go, but a 2lb Foie Gras would cost you around $150.

That might not sound like much considering the above prices, but keep in mind it’s a meal, not an ingredient like some of the above.

In a world where so many starve, it’s pretty wild that we have food that can cost as much as this, right?

Netflix Genres Boring You? Open Them Up Today

Netflix is, easily, one of the most popular online platforms used today. Millions of users curl up in front of their TV to watch their on-demand shows, when they want. While some of us complain that Netflix has too much choice, some people find it hard to choose. For example, their genre selections are, at best, poor. You can find it hard to really dig into what you wish to watch, which soon becomes an exercise in frustration.

To solve that problem, we recommend that you take a look at this easy to use Netflix genre cracker. This opens up thousands of new genres to look through when searching for movies. If you are sick of the same old genres giving you eyebrow raising returns, you can use this simple solution to open up the floor to some far more interesting movie choices.

Making the most of Netflix

To start off with, thanks to What’s On Netflix for coming across this awesome little trick. You will need to use a variety of specific codes to open up Netflix much more, giving you much more control over what you watch.

For example, if you wanted to find something very particular, you can. Mad genres appear, like “Bellydancing” and even “Campy Chinese Movies” – they have a little hidden sub-category for any kind of movie that you can think of. To make this work, all you need to do is type in the following URL:

https://www.netflix.com/browse/genre/XXXX

All you need to do is swap out XXXX for the genre you wish to browse through, and voila. You can find all of the codes that you need online, making it easy to tap into over 70,000 hidden sub-genres. It’s very interesting, and makes it easy for you to make your Netflix experience a touch more specific.

Many of us spend hours just flicking through Netflix hoping to find something decent. With this, you make more or less certain that you can find something worth watching. However, opening up the floor so much will mean potentially making it even harder to choose. If you struggle to make a choice with the options already on Netflix, make sure you have a rough idea of the genre that you wish to watch.

Decision making falls through the floor when we have too many options, so try and limit in your mind the kind of movie youwish to watch. Then, start your browser search. If you go on with so many new options to pick from, you will likely just make what is already a hard choice even harder than it needs to be!

The Loudest Rock Concerts Ever Recorded

When you leave a music concert or a gig, you can often like you have just your ears filled with paper. The ringing noise in your ears sticks around for a long time, as does the necessity to go “WHAT?” to just about anyone you speak to. Even going to see someone quite harmonic and relaxing can leave your ears in a bit of a tiff. So, going to see a major rock band at a big venue is only going to exasperate those scenarios.

However, regardless of how bad your ears have been, you will find that it pales in comparison to what would have happened if you were present at any of the following rock concerts. These are recorded as among the loudest in history.

Sleazy Joe, 2008

Their show that was held over at Hassleholm, and it managed to produce a ridiculous 143.2 decibels of noise. That’s a hell of a lot of noise, and shows you just how far the group were going on this performance.

Touted as the ‘loudest band in the world’, it’s fair to say that Sleazy Joe done a pretty damn good job of making that come true in their ’08 show in Sweden.

AC/DC, 1980

Known for being able to hit the heights on a good night, AC/DC managed an impressive 130 decibels during their Back in Black tour back in the 1980s. Years of hitting the high notes will have had an impact on the band with singer Brian Johnson having to reschedule shows in 2016 or risk the loss of his hearing entirely!

Indeed, back in the day they were told that they were ‘too loud’ by promoters and were asked to turn down the volume a touch: pfft!

The Who, 1976

While we might not really associate The Who with being a ‘loud’ band, they managed to make an impressive 126 decibels of noise during one of their London shows in 1976. They were playing at the Valley Stadium, and managed to make plenty of noise.

It was at one stage the highest performing concert in history, so much so that the Guinness Book of World Records awarded them for their noisiness until it was later broken.

Leftfield, 1996

Among the loudest that we could find, though, comes courtesy of the incredible Leftfield. They done a show over at the Brixton Academy, and managed to hit a stupendous 137 decibels. That’s damn impressive, and has become part of their show experience: loud to the point where they are warned by their promotional teams.

Legal limits mean that breaking these kind of sound levels is very unlikely. However, while it would be nice to go even a bit higher again, the 140-odd decibel level sounds more than loud enough for most gigs!

Whatever kind of rock music you like, you’ll find that some of these concerts are the kind of gig that you would like to spend your night, even if your ears would feel like they have gone through a workout!

Is Avengers: Infinity War All CGI? Take A Look

In the modern world of cinema, we’re able to produce things that simply would have seemed impossible. For example, you take a look at old-school movies like Clash of the Titans, and it’s barely believable that a director thought it looked anything other than amateur. Compare it with the more modern remake, and it’s safe to say that special effects can make up for a lack of just about anything on-set.

Well, one thing we can say for sure with the Avengers movie series has been that special effects play a critical role in making it look passable. Some recent shots came out from the Avengers movie sets recently, showing you the reality of how parts are shot. For example, the amazing scenes set on Wakanda don’t take place on anything other than a green screen.

While everyone knows that, it’s interesting to see the actual before/after shots that details just how much these kind of movies rely upon CGI to succeed. Many scenes in Infinity War – and others – are mostly built with the Green Screen. According to expert Oliver Schulz, who worked on the movie: “I was still wrapping on their other production Black Panther when I began on this show. Having worked on several Marvel shows prior, it gave a sense coming onto this one that I was seeing old friends again,”

For example, on the trip to Nidavellir, Thor, Rocket Raccoon and Groot all find themselves on a space station that is put together by Method Studios. According to Greg Steele, the VFX Supervisor: “The challenges revolved around building an environment that could be easily animated or posed per shot, having enough detail that we could be a foot from the ring surface and also pull out and across long distances and still retain the sense of scale and detail necessary, and in the end be efficient enough to render in many shots,”

Dust in the wind

Arguably the hardest part for shooting probably came from when the heroes all begin to turn to dust. While they are all quite hard to watch and see, the quality of the work that is put in Weta Digital to make it come to life, according to VFX Supervisor Matt Aiken, was quite exceptional, saying: “We had to make sure that it worked really, really well, because it was so drawn out, and so it had to withhold very high levels of scrutiny because we were holding right on Spidey’s face over Tony’s shoulder, through that.”

It just goes to show the immense amount of attention to detail and effort that is needed to pull off these kinds of shots. It takes precision and effort, but it also goes to show that for all the quality of the acting, writing and directing on films like this, it comes down to how good the art team are.

If you can make some of the scenes in this movie look as good as they do, then it’s safe to say that the art team make the move what it truly us. From making the big bad in Thanos look good to ensuring that Wakanda shows off its resplendent best, the work needed to make it all come together is a feat of tremendous detail in itself.
