It is, without doubt, one of the worst things that you could be told – that you have cancer. It’s a terrifying thing to hear, and leaves most people without any real hope of recovering. However, the way that Kambri Crews dealt with her diagnosis is pretty damn uplifting. She was diagnosed after noticing something was amiss in her breast, but rather than let it ruin her she decided to press on with her life.

Undergoing tests to determine what the lump was, she was diagnosed yet unlike most, she faced it head on. It took months to finally determine what it was; she got the call when she was filling up her basement at her comedy club.

“My first thought, I’m sure almost everyone’s first thought is, ‘I’m going to die,’” she said, “‘I guess I’ve got to sign over my life insurance and who’s going to take care of my dogs?’ I had all those morbid mortality thoughts. I’m discovering now, as people are telling me their stories and I’m learning more, that there are lots of other women, most people can get through this okay at the end.”

Sharing the video of her battle online to try and help raise spirits and inspire others, her video went viral as her amazing positivity gave everyone around her an uplifting, steadfast approach to defeating the illness. If she was able to maintain a positive approach, then surely everyone else could, too?

“I’m not going to crawl up in a ball and cry and be depressed,” Crews added. “The bills still have to be paid, the theater still has to be run, I still have two dogs that need to be walked and fed, and a husband who cares about me.”

Amazing, right? What an attitude to have: she wasn’t going to let some silly old lump slow her down! Best of luck and we hope that you recover as soon as you possibly can, Kambri. We’re all with you – kick it’s ass!
