Area 51 is Back in the Limelight

Over the past couple of months, UFO followers have gone absolutely nuts! They are flocking to the Nevada desert that is close by the famous, secretive US Air Force military base after a joke was posted on Facebook sometime back this year.

Over two million people said they would attend the event and race through the base to find these “so-called” aliens!  It seems more and more people are not using common sense!

Recently, the organizers of this event decided to cancel for fear of safety, worrying this could turn into another Fyre Festival.  The Fyre Festival was a fraudulent luxury music festival created to promote the company’s app for booking music talent.

Canceled? Who Cares!

Even with the cancellation, people have flocked to small towns like Rachel, NV with a population of 54 residences.  Their sole intent is to meet up with other alien hunters.  To the insane, one fan performed the perfect Naruto run, passing a live news broadcast at the scene.

Should you not know, a Naruto run is performed by leaning forward with your arms stretched out behind you while running!

Area 51 is a military site that is closed off to the public and has been rumored to have evidence of alien contacts.  Shortly after the event gained momentum, the US Air Force issued a very strong warning that people should stay away as this is a training site for American armed soldiers.

A spokesperson for the US Air Force, which I paraphrase, said they are always ready to stand by protecting America and her assets but this recent lure of the conspiracy theory has obviously made the place difficult to resist.

This phenomenon is based on a blend of interests in aliens and swirling government conspiracies, wanting to know something no one knows.

Residents of Rachel have been preparing for the influx of people from around the US as well as other places.  They are installing outdoor floodlights, fencing, and “No Trespassing” signs.  They have organized a radio-equipped neighborhood night-watch fearing there will not be enough food, water, garbage containers, or even toilets to support this mad dash.

There is also a fear that people will flock into the desert with absolutely no knowledge about the climate conditions which during the night hours can drop below 5°C.  People are arriving in shorts and flip-flops and will probably come face-to-face with snakes, scorpions, and other creatures.

Officials are concerned about people becoming angry when they don’t find what they are looking for and cell phone service will become overwhelmed.  Visitors will not find a gas station closer than 45 miles away!

In a nutshell, people will not find what they are hoping for and even though the creators on Facebook called the whole event a fraud, it doesn’t seem to be stopping people from invading this area and potentially putting themselves in harm’s way.

Quite honestly, people, this conspiracy theory has been around since the 50s when people were worried about Nuclear weapons and there is absolutely no proof of aliens living in Nevada.

Over the past couple of months, UFO followers have gone absolutely nuts! They are flocking to the Nevada desert that is close by the famous...

Delta Passenger on ‘Private’ Plane Left Out One Important Detail

Vincent Peone’s video Tweet went viral last week as it showed him boarding a private Delta flight from Aspen, Colorado to Salt Lake City, Utah as the only passenger. He captioned the short clip, “Last week @Delta gave me my own private jet…kind of.” It seems, however, that the award-winning director may have stretched the truth a bit.

The full story is that, though Peone did board that flight as the only passenger, it never took off! Peone later claimed that his video was “100 percent true” – before he stopped filming, that is!

Well… Kind Off

“After the private jet broke down again with mechanical problems, I took a normal one the following morning,” he confesses in his tweet.

Peone feels no contrition over his post, and though he took a flight alongside other passengers the next day, he’s enjoying the moment of viral fame.

“The footage I have tells a short, funny, and positive story – because those are the kind of stories I like to tell. I make comedy!” he wrote.

He also added, “I had some laughs with the amazing crew while living the dream.”

Delta also has no negative feelings about Peone’s post but, rather, responded to his popular Twitter with a thank you for shouting out to them. Most likely, several others had no issue with his post either as it gave them the opportunity to drool over the “hot pilot” Peone had on the would-be private flight.

Lazy Cat Sleeps on Busy Thai Restaurant Floor, Refuses to Move for Waitresses

This lazy cat was in no mood to move – and she simply sprawled out on the floor of a restaurant. The tabby named Thongdang was filmed sleeping coåmfortably on her back on the wooden floor in Chachoengsao, central Thailand on July 27.

When waitresses had to pass by carrying plates, Thongdang would not move and the staff had to step over the cat.

The restaurant boss said: ”She’s the kind of cat that does what she wants and everybody else has to accommodate her.

”But we still love her, even when she lays on the ground and won’t move.”

Have You Ever Wondered Where The Smiley Face Emoji Came From?

You might not even know what an Emoji is!  These images are faces we use in our text message to display emotions such as blushing, smiling, or scowling.

Whether you want to end your message on a high note, add a smile in the middle of your text, or wishing someone a happy birthday, there’s an emoji for you.  We use them in messages on social media, in our emails to one another, or in other ways to convey an emotion or sentiment.

What you might not know, where did the original smiley come from?  This concept actually started back in the 60s when Harvey Ball created the very first smiley face drawing.  Over the years, the image began to change and develop into smiley emoji drawings that we all love and enjoy to use.

How It All Began:

Graphic artists, Harvey Ross Ball created the first smiley face without giving it much thought, let along turning it into an international icon!  Possibly, he was just doodling while coming up with ideas in his head for his next project.

He was originally hired by State Mutual Life Insurance Company as a graphic artist to produce an image that would encourage their employees to smile more often during their time at the workplace.

It took him less than 10 minutes to draw this cute smiley face and was only paid $45 for his artwork.  While the image probably did nothing to ramp up morale in the workplace, this smiley face caught on like wildfire!

It was printed on buttons, posters, shirts, etc.  Even though Ball never copyrighted the design, saying he was not a man of means or money, his smiley face continued to gain in popularity in our culture.  Before he knew it, even the company workers stood up and took notice of his simple cute drawing.

How The Smiley Face Evolved:

Through the 60s, 70s, and 80s, the little yellow smiley face started to evolve and soon became an image of happiness and peace within pop art and started appearing on tee-shirts and posters.

As mentioned earlier, Ball never claimed the copyright but someone else stepped up to the plate to promote and commercialize this little yellow face.  Franklin Loufrani, a French journalist, was a driven man and he decided to attached this smiley drawing to all his positive newspaper stories and received a lot of attraction from readers.

At one point, he copyrighted the image and made a lot of money selling just about anything he could with the image printed on it.  He named the image simply “Smiley” and started the Smiley Company selling tee-shirt transfers to anyone who wanted to show off this positive image.

Even though the image was created long before the cell phone, this French journalist’s company played an enormous role in the production of the 21st-Century Emoji!

The Birth Of The Emoji:

If you’ve ever wondered how this little smiley face ended up on the internet, we’ve got you covered!  Scott E. Fahlman was a computer scientist at Carnegie Mellon. He is the man who got the idea that would eventually lead to becoming known as an Emoji.

He decided it would be a great idea to have some visual way to express emotions that are funny to text messages, especially at the closing of a message with either a happy or sad face.

Then, Shigetaka Kurita, a Japanese interface designer started sending out cartoons in his company messages that were emoji-like faces.  So in some ways, he is the one who created the emoji!  He used a 12 x 12 grid to produce the pixel images such as laughing faces, hearts, and of course, the original smiley face.

This new concept remained only in Japan for almost 10 years.  Meanwhile, Loufrani’s son Nicolas was working on the smiley replication of emojis.  He created an amazing 470 emojis during 1999 and licensed them out to phone companies for a price.  Finally, in 2010, emojis hit the public internationally with 722 emojis being released on iPhone and Android devices.

Now in the age of cell phones, there are approximately 3,000 emojis available for our devices. It’s almost impossible for any of us to imagine not having these emojis for our messages.  Though I must look back and say it’s a shame that Ball only received a total of $45 for a design that was formed in his head alone.

You might not even know what an Emoji is!  These images are faces we use in our text message to display emotions such as blushing, smiling, or scowling.

Whether you want to end your message on a high note, add a smile in the middle of your text, or wishing...

Blue Java Bananas Are A ‘Sweet Treat’ You Can Grow Yourself

Out with the old, in with the new – the new being Blue Java bananas; they have the color of turquoise and the flavor of vanilla ice cream.

With Cavendish bananas heading toward extinction, people are thrilled to discover the creamy texture and unique, sweet flavour of the Blue Java banana – and who wants boring, old yellow bananas anyway?

These bananas were first discovered and grown in Southeast Asia, but they thrive in all tropical climates, such as Hawaii or even Northern Australia.

A Banana, By Any Other Name

The Blue Java banana goes by multiple names; the ‘Ice Cream’ banana, the ‘Hawaiian’ banana, and Cenizo bananas are just a few of them. These trees are great because in addition to the delicious, unique fruit they produce, they also produce it quickly with lots of shade, as well.

The fruit is a silvery or bright blue color when it isn’t ripe, but turns to a yellow similar to Cavendish bananas when it’s ripe and ready to be devoured. Fun to eat both raw or cooked, they’re exceptionally delicious served with ice cream or frozen custard.

The Blue Java variety of bananas is tough, unlike the Cavendish which is facing the risk of extinction due to problems with cloning and rampant disease.

The Blue Java thrives most in places like Fiji, the Philippines, Hawaii, and even some of the southern states in America – all places with warmer climates.

Attempting to grow them in the midwestern United States probably wouldn’t work though the plant has a strong root system and is hardy, wind-resistant, and cold tolerant up to 20 degrees Fahrenheit.

On average, you’ll find Blue Java bananas at a length between seven and nine inches, and the trees themselves typically reach 15 to 20 feet and bloom anywhere from 15 to 24 months following planting.

Where Can They Grow?

The bananas have a pleasant aroma and flavor. Check your geographical zone, and see if you can grow them in your own climate; they do best in zones eight through ten, but they also grow in greenhouses.

A potted plant may produce bananas as soon as nine months, and if you can’t find a local specialty grocer near you that carries blue bananas, you can find them on Amazon!

The thought of Blue Java banana’s creamy, fluffy texture combined with a vanilla ice cream flavour is tempting foodies everywhere with the possibilities they offer. Those on a diet can indulge in one without even cheating!

Commenters on Reddit had a lot to say about this phenomenal fruit. User 4ftFury commented, “Totally! Bananas are actually super tough, resilient plants – I believe in you!” Nate1899 responded, “I live in Florida, just north enough that our banana trees get burnt by the freezes.

Very disappointing. This would be perfect!” User GoHomeWithBonnieJean wrote, “It’s only a matter of time before the Cavendish banana is wiped out.

The reason why bananas are the cheapest fruit in the market is that the current banana sold is based on a monoculture.” It looks like blue bananas couldn’t have arrived on the market soon enough!

Out with the old, in with the new – the new being Blue Java bananas; they have the color of turquoise and the flavor of vanilla ice cream.

This Flight Attendant’s Safety Brief is Simply Hilarious

Some people make life more exciting than it is. These incredible people draw that curve on your lips with every opportunity they could make use of. Have you encountered one of them in any of your flights?

If you are a seasoned traveler, the moment that you hear the safety briefing started, you would wish it ends soon.

You’ve heard this over and over and if you are regularly boarding the same flight, this routine briefing may start automatically playing in your head in advance, ahead of the crew conducting the briefing.

Fortunately, for this flight from Calgary to Arizona, this flight attendant’s sense of humor appealed to all passengers and surely to anyone who watches this video.

Watching this video, you’ll conclude that the one who took the footage thought of catching the moment when the attendant is almost halfway of the briefing.

And, in French:

Have you missed much of the fun? No, not really! The comedy show went on as the flight attendant delivered more fun as the briefing is aired in French Language.

So did it so well that even for one who does not understand any French word would catch the message of what is being portrayed. This a great demonstration that “action speaks louder than words?”

He is a natural comedian. His main asset is how he portrays and interprets words and scenes using his facial expressions in a hilarious way. Watching him, one can feel his energy that is overflowing with a gush of comedy.

Which part for you is his best act? What about that part when he demonstrates the use of an oxygen mask? Check the video to see how he made all passengers burst into laughter with his performance.

What is very commendable with this guy is that his way of delivering humor appeals to all ages: it is as funny to kids as it is to adults. Some comedians perform in a way that it appeals only to a particular age.

Some, with their aim to make people laugh, resort to gestures that sometimes transgress the border of inappropriateness.

Hope that the next time you will board a plane, you will encounter a guy like him. Alternatively, you can watch this video again before your flight so you will assimilate an ample amount of energy.

There is a big chance that you will not feel the passage of time while the routine briefing is being conducted, no matter how boring it is. Sit back and relax and enjoy your flight!

Jet Skier’s Unbelievably Skillful Prank

A cyclist making his way along a country road stopped for a drink and a little rest on a bridge overlooking a large river below. It was no coincidence that Dave stopped here while out pedaling.

He’s been cycling this road for years and he knows that the bridge over the Otonabee River is an excellent place to pause and look out over the water. There is a beach and conservation area in sight of the bridge and there are often boats, Seadoos, and other interesting things to look at for a few minutes.

Dave doesn’t go far without his GoPro camera and when he saw that there were two jet skiers zipping around on their machines, he started to film them. One of them was hopping his jet ski over waves, submerging it, and doing various tricks.

He was obviously very skilled and very athletic, but the trick he was about to pull was something Dave didn’t even think was possible.

Without seeming to look up at the bridge, the jet skier made it appear that he wasn’t even aware that he was being watched. He drove under the bridge, turned and came back.

He slowed down exactly under Dave and whipped around onto the front of the jet ski with impressive speed and agility. Dave was wondering if the jet skier was showing off, or performing a trick for the benefit of the camera.

He didn’t realize that this was about to be an incredible prank that would knock his glasses off, knock his bike over, and leave him completely drenched.

How it’s done

By sitting on the nose of the jet ski, the skier was able to tilt the back end, including the jet, right out of the water. He pressed the throttle and sent a jet of water upwards that was as powerful as a fire hose.

With unbelievable precision, he blasted Dave with hundreds of gallons of water. The jet hit Dave so hard that his bicycle was knocked over and his sunglasses were washed off his face onto the ground.

Dave was soaked from his head to his feet and so was the entire bridge around him.

Luckily, this was a hot day and the soaking was refreshing. But even if it hadn’t been so hot, there’s no way you could help but applaud such a brilliant and well executed prank. Dave laughed in disbelief as the jet skier rode away to meet his friends and share a laugh about what he had just done. Who would ever expect to be soaked from below when you are high above on a bridge?

Dave was so impressed with this display of skill that he cycled down to the park below and shook the jet skier’s hand. They both shared a laugh over what had just happened and the fact that it was all caught on camera.

The jet skier’s name is Brian and if you’re ever standing on a bridge over a river, you better hope he’s not down below on his jet ski. This seems like something Brian has done many times and it’s not likely he’d pass up a chance to do it again.

Snake Goes for Washing Machine Tumble, Survives

How often do you find yourself rattling through the washing machine, trying to find where you placed something of importance?

How often do you pull out a smartphone, wallet, keys, etc. from the washing machine? We’ve all been there. One thing you might not have put into the washing machine, though, is your pet snake. That’s right: Illinois resident Sanela Kamencic managed to put a corn snake through her washing cycle!

When she opened up her washing machine and seen a wee corn snake staring back at her, she naturally found it quite discomforting. As you would expect. Speaking to NBC 5, she said: “I was totally creeped out,

“How did a snake get in the house let alone the washer?”

She immediately phoned the local Evanston Police, who came around to handle it. They moved the snake on to the Chicago Exotics Animal Hospital, where it was checked out. According to one of the people on the scene, Animal Warden Jason Pound, the snake “smelled like Downy”!

As you might imagine, the story gave quite a few good laughs for everyone involved. Despite being through a wash of this capacity, too, the snake seems to be in good spirits – though, as you might imagine, she is not in the happiest of moods.

Penelope, the gorgeously smelling snake

The snake, named Penelope, was a pet who belonged to a nearby girl. It was the girl next door in fact, who had managed to let the snake get out of the bedroom. It snuck out of the house and then through a townhouse wall and into the laundry room. Apparently, the Penelope had been missing for the best part of three days!

When she was found, they managed to take it back to the previous owner and reunite Penelope with her family. Apparently, she’s in fine health, in good mental condition and, more importantly, she smells fantastic!

All is well that ends well in a story like this, and we’re sure that all are involved to have their washing machine snake-free, and their snake smelling like a bed of ross.

JFK Airport to Open Up Dog Terminal?

When we take our dogs to the airport with us, one thing we often worry about is them causing a scene. Hanging around in an indoor airport for so long can naturally have an impact on animals that just love to run around and make the most of every second of the day. So, the staff at JFK International Airport have taken the rather proactive step of opening up an animal-only terminal!

Complete with a ‘dog resort’, this part of the airport is for those canines who just cannot sit at peace otherwise. Now, you can go and handle all of the requirements needed to make sure you can head off on holiday without issue.

Your canine companion can hang around the dog resort while you run around and get everything ready for the big trip. If that does not sound like the perfect day for your dog, we aren’t really sure what will!

Air travel for pets has become a very important part of the process, as in the past it was so miserable, minimalistic and, frankly, quite spartan. Now, things are changing at JFK: you can come on down to the airport and enjoy the first ever privately-owned ‘dog terminal’. Now, your animal can go through the confusing terminal process and make sure the stress and upset of the experience does not have to be so scary.

This is not just for dogs, either. All animals are welcome to be part of “The Ark”, within reason. It will be used as a cargo holding area for animals while they wait for the time to arrive to get the transport that they need. This outrageously interesting idea is one that is going to really change how animals are dealt with when they are taking off from JFK.

Paw-rific

It’s also going to house a Paradise 4 Paws kennel collection, which is an overnight pet resort that canines simply adore. It’s a state-of-the-art facility that makes it very easy for you to enjoy the whole experience and ensures that you can see everything from entertainment staff to vets and even an aviary.

Everything is here that your dogs would need to have some fun and to relax as they come into the facility.

The move, which is set to cost around $48m, is sure to make travel so much easier for those who are bringing their pet with them on a trip. It’s no longer going to be anywhere near as stressful or as challenging as it used to be. Now, you can get everything ready for the big trip while your beloved canine has all the fun in the world in The Ark!

Watch (and laugh): Offended Kangaroo Attacks Paraglider

We feel that this guy should consider himself lucky taking into consideration that this situation could have gone much worse due to the possessive nature of the kangaroo. However this time they felt mercy and chose to leave the human be.

Humans have this funny characteristic of associating certain human qualities with animals in the wilderness. One explanation of why we do this is an attempt to make these highly unpredictable wild animals familiar to us.

So the lion becomes heroic and brave, the donkey is stubborn, the wolf is a loner, the fox is tricky and the cat is extremely curious. Sure, they exhibit some of these behaviors and traits, but it is more likely than not their natural survival instinct kicking in, rather than any human-like behavior on their part.

This means that a cat can be stubborn, a wolf can be curious and a fox can be brave, no matter how we stereotype them.

We have long lived with the saying “curiosity killed the cat” but it appears that cats aren’t the only ones who enjoy curious enough to chase red laser dots. In fact watch as these playful fish go right into action!

Their owner is extremely entertained by their antics as they mindlessly follow the fluorescent red dot appearing in their makeshift habitat. They often hit a dead end or the rocks in their pursuit, but that doesn’t stop them from trying to catch it.

Lets take for instance someone coming into your home without your permission? Now that you have that question sorted out we bet this kangaroo feels the same.

Lets hear a couple of words from the paraglider. “I had been Paragliding cross country for two hours near Canberra and had reached a position where I had to land. I was concentrating on the landing and didn’t notice the Kangaroo until after I landed. As it ran towards me I thought it was being friendly so I said ‘What’s Up, Skip?’ It then attacked me twice before hopping away.”

What do you think about this video? Make sure you tell us more in the comments down below. If you like what you see, don’t forget to share it with others who might like it as well. It just might be the highlight of their day! Enjoy!

‘Ancient’ Structure Is From The 1990s

In Scotland, archaeologists were disappointed when they found that a stone circle which they believed to be centuries old actually only dates back to the late 20th century.

A group of researchers in Leochel-Cushnie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland swarmed the monument when the current owner of the land reported the site to the authorities.

The archaeologists indicated that the site is authentic and added it to the “recumbent stone circles” list. Recumbent stone circles are a rare kind of circle particular to that local area.

Stop The Party

But the council reported that the celebrations were brought to a halt when the former landowner reported to a representative of Historic Environment Scotland and Aberdeenshire Council’s archaeology service that the circle was only a replica.

While analyzing the site, the archaeologists had observed that it was quite small and that some of the “kerb” and “cairn” stones one would expect to find, were missing. But still, the council says that this amount of variation isn’t uncommon.

A historic environment record assistant at Aberdeenshire Council, Neil Ackerman stated that although they were disappointed to learn of the development, it adds an element of excitement to the story.

He says that the fact that it copies the regional monument type so closely shows how much the locals know, appreciate and engage with this region’s archaeology.

He hopes that they continue to use and enjoy the stones and that although it is not ancient, it still an amazing location and is a fantastic part of the landscape.

Recumbent stone circles were built about 3,500 to 4,500 years ago. They are rings of rock identifiable by two pillars with a large stone laid on its side in between them.

They were found in the north-east of Scotland and believed to have been built in the  Stone Age for astronomical purposes ie to monitor the movement of the moon and the sun, and track the year as it passes, according to Forestry Commission Scotland.

Ackerman also says that it is difficult to date these types of monuments and for that reason, they record modern replicas of these ancient monuments, should they later be misidentified.

He also says that they welcome new reports of modern reconstructions of ancient monuments, especially when they are built with skills similar to those of the stone circle and those that reference the monument types that already exist.

Fake Festival in UK Confused Half A Million Revelers

For the good people of Britain, one of the most common problems you have is the weather. We’re often left with about 12 weeks of the year to fit all of our enjoyment into – and it’s why so many festivals happen year-in, year-out.

Some festivals sound better than others, of course – but it’s important to remember that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Take the festival which was supposed to have everyone from Liam Gallagher and Richard Ashcroft to the Arctic Monkeys, the 1975 and Blossoms.

It’s like a dream festival for all of those middle-aged men with Paul Weller haircuts!

Sadly, a dream was all it was. A rather wild college student threw together an awesome looking flyer for an event called ‘Yorkshire Fields’ – and it had just about everyone you could think of. It even had Scottish musical superstar Gerry Cinnamon!

More importantly, though, the line-up was a lot of bollocks. It was posted online, and it got so many people excited. Ollie Yates is the mastermind behind the evil scheme, and he managed to make a fool of many a festival traveler. It was all part of a social media campaign for college, and Yates decided it was a good idea to try and fool half the UK music scene.

With a simple £5 Facebook Ads boost, the post got around the social media page and before long had around 500,000 people viewing the image in total. This seen people talking about, tagging their mates and making plans for a totally fictitious festival.

The dubious scheme unveiled

However, as it continued to go on, it had to eventually be unraveled for the waiting public. The announcement on the ‘official’ Facebook page announced that it was a social experiment to test how social media could empower and build business: hence the total lack of detail outside of the single Facebook page.

Yates spoke about the project with LADBible, where he said: “The aim was to get a few reactions on how the post could be shared and how something that’s so ludicrous [could] go viral, and actually get people to believe it.

“I didn’t expect the result I got in the end. I got the page to over 5,000 likes (which is now going down as I announced it wasn’t real).”

Naturally, there has been a happy mixture of charming ripostes, witty retorts and, as this is the internet, downright abuse. Given it was eventually being shared around musicians and asking them for comment, we’re sure that this college experiment has well and truly been a resounding success – so long as you never spent hours trying to work out how to procure tickets
