Judi Dench Defends The Work of Harvey Weinstein And Kevin Spacey

The 84-year-old Jude Dench came forward to defend the work of Kevin Spacey, Harvey Weinstein, and men like them as Weinstein’s sexual assault trial draws near. Though she doesn’t in any way condone sexual harassment, she believes viewers should still appreciate their life’s work – and she has quite a solid argument!

Dench spoke with Radio Times and appeared on the cover of its latest issue, saying that their work should not be tossed aside and unappreciated just because of accusations that have been brought against them. “What kind of agony is that?” she asked.

“Are we going to negate 10 years at the Old Vic [where Spacey once served as artistic director] and everything that he did? How wonderful he’s been in all those films? Are we just not going to see all those films that Harvey produced?” she continued.

You’d Have to Ban Caravaggio, Too

Dench worked with Weinstein multiple times, one of the most renown being the 1998 film Shakespeare in Love. She compared what happened to the 17th-century painter Caravaggio to the present-day situation. The man has sentenced Death on account of murder, yet his work is still venerated and hung in Roman churches and museums.

“You cannot deny somebody a talent,” Dench said. “You might as well never look at a Caravaggio painting. You might as well never have gone to see Noël Coward [the famous English playwright and actor accused of harassment].”

After The New York Times’ 2017 exposé that recorded nearly two decades of allegations of misconduct, almost 90 women came forward to accuse Weinstein of harassing, sexually assaulting, or raping them.

The charges he’s now facing are for two of those, one of which is an incident in which he allegedly forcibly performed oral sex on a woman in his New York apartment in 2006. The other is a 2013 altercation where he allegedly raped a woman in a New York hotel room. Weinstein, whose trial is expected to begin on September 9, has denied these allegations and pleaded not guilty

Will You Boycott Hoese Of Cards Because of This?

Spacey, the former House of Cards star, has been charged with the indecent assault and battery of an 18-year-old boy in July 2016, and he has also pleaded not guilty.

This is not the first of such accusations being made against him as in 1986, the actor Anthony Rapp, who was 14 at the time, claimed Spacey made sexual advances. Spacey didn’t remember such an encounter but apologized anyway.

With the #MeToo movement going strong, many men have faced accusations like these as well as much ridicule and criticism.

Yet, there are some defending men’s “freedom to pester” women. In France, for instance, one hundred women signed an open letter criticizing the #MeToo movement and the criticism men have had to deal with as a result.

Catherine Deneuve, a French movie star, gathered writers, businesswomen, academics, and performers to sign the letter, denouncing the “hatred of men and sexuality.” The letter was printed in the French newspaper Le Monde.

Yay! Celebrity Deathmatch Set for Reboot

As one of the most enjoyable TV shows of the MTV era, Celebrity Deathmatch got viewers from all around the world. It was wild, completely out of the loop with normal TV and, most importantly, was pretty damn funny. However, for anyone who has taken part in watching this famous show from the noughties, you’ll be happy to know it’s getting a full reboot.

According to Ice Cube, the show will be coming back in the near future. MTV Studios will be working with Ice Cube and Jeff Kawtinetz to help make this even better than the original. MTV has enjoyed a lot of success from jumping into some of their more old-school and most celebrated projects once again. now, we can expect to see Celebrity Deathmatch returning in all of its shocking and chaotic style.

From 1998 until 2002, the original series was one of the major MTV hits of the era. Eric Fogel, the previous creator of the original series, will take an executive production role for this. With comical visual style and outrageous scenes of hilarious violence, we can expect that this latest move will help to bring viewers back to MTV.

The Classics Are The Best

Ice Cube noted his happiness to be involved with the project, saying: “Happy to once again be working with Viacom and MTV on a fan favorite like Celebrity Deathmatch and to continue our success together,”

While it might be slightly out of scope with what people do and watch today, it is safe to say that for many people Celebrity Deathmatch was one of the most enjoyed cult hit shows of its era. While some might find it all a little odd today, it will be funny to see how tech and narrative advancements make this even more enjoyable.

Add in the fact that the celebrity list is bigger today than ever before, and it should be easy to imagine some truly hilarious match-ups taking place. Whatever happens with this latest reboot, it’s nice to see that some classic ideas still hold some kind of artistic merit with production firms.

It might not be to the taste of everyone, but the previous boot of the show was hugely enjoyed at the time. Alongside TV shows like Bo Selecta, it played a key role in opening up a whole new kind of satire on the TV, and was quite the trailblazer.

For those who want to rekindle their love of clay celebrities engaging in brutal battles, then, be sure to keep an eye out for more information about the reboot!

Another ‘War of the Worlds’ Remake?!

As the world seems to have run out of ideas in entertainment, politics, and economics, are you really surprised?

That’s right: War of the Worlds is getting another remake. The old-school classic is about to get a new generation facelift to try and capture another generation entirely. However, it would appear that what was once just a quiet rumor appears to be picking up the pace – and big names along the way. Indeed, it would appear that Greg Kinnear is going to take part in the new remake.

Developed by Canal Plus and by Fox, too, this sounds like it might actually be decent. The actor will be getting brought in after some impressive roles in the likes of House of Cards and Little Miss Sunshine, but probably mostly based on the strength of his Oscar-nominated role in As Good as it Gets. He’s a very impressive actor, and it sounds like his wonderful resume might just land him a major role in a massive reboot that’s sure to rake in the monies.

Interestingly, it sounds like the remake is going to be told across an eight-part series instead of a conventional movie remake. This obviously has people quite interested, especially as it’s got a successful name in Merlin creator Howard Overman involved. It’s going to take place in a modernized America, so we can expect some subtle yet significant changes.

Overman, though, appears determined to impress both new fans as well as any lovers of the old classic. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, he stated: “I look forward to bringing our bold, fresh and relatable version, inspired by this much-loved story to a new audience,”

More of the same?

Interestingly, the BBC also have a three-part remake of the old-school H.G. Wells novel coming out, too. This is going to involve a few notable names, namely Robert Carlyle. As impressive an actor as Scotland has produced, he would make an excellent addition to any remake of this classic tale. Fans, though, might be a touch worried that this excellent book is going to get a touch overly saturated.

Indeed, in 2005 alone we saw three versions of this appear in media format. 2012 seen a sequel and a loose adaption. For the first time in six years, though, we’re going to get what feels like a generation mass-repeat of a wonderful book.

It might all be a bit much, but with each version having its own star actors involved, we might just get the best versions yet.

New Found Dinosaur Species Named After Marvel’s Thanos

Any Comic book  fan knows who Thanos is, he was always quite a big deal within the Marvel lore but unlike other Marvel characters that broke out into the mainstream in the last two decades, Thanos remained in the shadow for a while. All of that off course changed when Infinity War came along and showed what a great character he really is. Now that Josh Brolin’s portrayal of the  the Mad Titan made him a household name all across the world, Thanos receives a huge honor from the scientific community as he now has a dinosaur named after him. Yeah, you read that right  Thanos is now the name of a newly-discovered species of dinosaurs.

The species which is called the Thanos simonattoi —was a carnivorous dinosaur that resided in Brazil during the later part of Cretaceous Period around 145 million years ago. The announcement of the new dinosaur discovery first came in Historical Biology, a journal first published online on November 16, 2018.

“In the present contribution, we describe a new abelisaurid (Thanos simonattoi, gen. et sp. nov.) from the São José do Rio Preto Formation, Bauru Group, Brazil (Upper Cretaceous). Thanos differs from other theropods by having a well-developed keel becoming wider and deeper posteriorly on the ventral surface; two lateral small foramina separated by a relative wide wall on each lateral surface of the centrum, and well-developed and deep prezygapophyseal spinodiapophyseal fossae.”

It is still unknown what the future holds for the character in the the MCU, Brolin is set to reprise his role as Thanos once again in next year’s Avengers 4, but that might not because of the last time according to the actor. If he has his way, Brolin would appear in more Marvel Cinematic Universe movies in the near future.

“You know what, I don’t know what the future brings and who knows, but [I] love the idea of something infinite like this,” Brolin told ScreenRant. “I’ve never been involved in sequels. The fact that we’ve done some of Avengers 2, oh sorry, Avengers 4 but Infinity War 2, I’m going back. I’m going to do more, and we’re going to do some re-shoots and all that. So, I’m excited about all that. I love the Russos. I love working on the Avengers. I didn’t think I was going to and I actually loved it. I didn’t even like it. I loved it.”

Sony Announce 2 New Spiderman Spinoff Movies for 2020 Release

Sony has a complicated history with Spiderman. After the first 3 movies that were directed by Sam Raimi became the biggest hits in the studio’s history the fourth movie was canceled after creative differences between them and the director. They went ahead and rebooted the character under Marc Webb guidance this time planning to spin a whole shared universe around the character, but things didn’t go as planned. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 flopped, the Sinister Six spinoff that was supposed to spin off never took place, and Sony wound up entering into an agreement with Marvel to co-create the Homecoming series and bring Spidey back into the MCU.

Now, A few years later, though, things have turned around dramatically. Even without spiderman Venom became one of the years’  biggest (surprise) hits, grossing almost $780 million and counting. And Don’t forget  Into the Spider-Verse,  Sony’s first animated Spider-Man movie that receives a lot of positive buzz. With things looking up, Variety reports that Sony has added two more Spider-Man spinoff films to their release calendar. The first untitled Marvel project hits theaters July 10, 2020. The second arrive son October 2.

They don’t have confirmed information on what these movies are, but they have educated guesses for both: “While no specifics were provided in the studio’s announcement, the July project is likely “Morbius,” starring Jared Leto. The character is another villain from the Spidey canon, which will be shepherded by “Safe House” director Daniel Espinosa. Morbius first surfaced in the 1971 comic “The Amazing Spider-Man,” as a scientist seeking a cure for a blood disease. Things don’t go as planned, and the doctor winds up with vampiric traits and a thirst for blood.”

The second, they speculate, is Venom 2.

After the Success of the first venom (that earned more than Guardians of the Galaxy and Deadpool), it’s easy to imagine why the studio wants to fast-track the sequel. Although the first one had its shortcomings now that the character is established and there is no need for an origin story the second entry in the series can be everything fans are waiting for.

The Original Avengers Actors Pay Tribute to Stan Lee

The stars and crew of the Marvel Cinematic Universe continue to show love and tribute to Stan Lee following the Marvel Comics creator’s death earlier this week. News of the Marvel legend’s death broke on Monday, Nov. 12, 2018, whe he had been rushed to the hospital early that morning, before passing away. He was 95 years old.

While the original six Avengers actors all made tributes to Lee on Twitter following the news of his passing, they have decided to assemble yet again now honoring Lee’s legacy with a full-page magazine ad.

The full-page ad taken out by the original six Avengers appeared in this week issue of The Hollywood Reporter, along with five other full-page ads honoring Stan Lee. Signed by Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Robert Downey Jr., Jeremy Renner and Chris Evans, the tribute to Stan Lee is set against the logo of the Avengers in gray. The ad was revealed by THR’s editor on Twitter.

Lee, of course, was part of the MCU not just in spirit as he had a cameo in every film and TV show in the franchise. In fact, we will probably see Lee on screen several more times: He filmed cameos for Captain Marvel and Avengers 4, and may have filmed others. It will be interesting to see how his absence affects the universe in the future.

Amazing ‘Avengers 4’ Fan-Made Cartoon

As The Avengers has grown to be among the biggest and most successful IPs of a generation, it’s no surprise to see fans want more. As ever with such huge franchises, the minute a title is released the fans want to see even more stuff come out. With much talk of the fourth Avengers movie, though, one fan has created a pretty impressive fan-made video that will get you pretty hyped for the real thing when it finally arrives.

With news of the first footage floating around the Marvel fan forums and the like, there’s a lot of speculation about what it might involve. One fan, though, has gone from talking about it on a forum to making his own fan trailer. It’s really impressive, and really does a good job of making the series look even better.

While rumored trailer descriptions are flying around, Spectrum Cinema, a popular YouTube channel has created a stylish animated trailer that depicts what the rumored script is supposed to be. Despite the fact it’s made more or less entirely by a fan, it’s very impressive indeed. The trailer, named Avengers: Annihilation, has some rather janky animation at times but it is really impressive for a fan-made effort.

It’s pretty macabre, in truth, but it’s very impressive in the way that it plays out. Given it’s pulling on what we can only call strange sources, too, it’s easy to forgive the more creative parts of the writing and animation. We won’t spoil much of the trailer for you, but you do see some finished Avengers, and also a ruined world after the events of Infinity War. It’s all quite grim, really.

Excited yet?

However, the trailer itself is a great piece of work and is sure to whet the appetite for what is to come in the future. We don’t want to sit and critique amateur animation, though, but the voice acting could … use some work. Fair play to them for trying, though: it’s definitely got Marvel fans talking anyway and it will play a big role in getting people hyped up for the big fourth movie to come.

It’s expected that we’ll see the trailer for the fourth edition – the real trailer – come out before the end of the year. As ever, though, this is mostly just speculation. We’ll find out as time goes on what is going to take place, but safe to say it’s going to be quite interesting anyway.

If you want to get in the mood for a big release from Marvel, then why not take a look at the fan trailer?

As outlandish as it might be, it’s a sterling effort and will definitely put you in the mind for another blockbuster involving Tony Stark and co.

Wait, What?! A Shrek & Puss-in-Boots Reboot? Already!?

Apparently, the world has run out of ideas. You see, whilst Shrek was fantastic at the time, it wasn’t anything tremendously new. It followed the same kind of premise and story as so many that came before it. The quality of animation and the way it’s delivered is tremendous, though – that’s not to say anything bad against Shrek. As a series, it’s quality. However, apparently, we’ve got to the stage where even Shrek is getting a reboot.

I used to laugh at elder family members bemoaning childhood classics of their own life being remade for a new generation. I didn’t think I’d see a childhood classic of my own, Shrek, turned into a reboot before my 30s. This is apparently close to happening, though. Apparently, Chris Meledandri, the mastermind behind Despicable Me among others, is being put in charge of the reboot by Universal, according to Variety.

Apparently, ogres aren’t really relevant in 2018 – so, expect some change in gender/orientation or a total swap-around of the roles. Let’s face it, reboots are often absolute drivel, and it’s not likely that this will go any better. The need to change things in a bid to keep it fresh (and to fit in with the more sanitized world it will arrive in) often leads to reboots being technically superior, bt far less pure and enjoyable than the first set.

Even more ridiculously, side-kick Puss in Boots is getting the same reboot. Even stranger is that apparently the idea is to get Eddie Murphy, Michael Myers and Antonio Banderas back together to do it all over again. I can’t really wrap my head around the concept of a reboot that uses all the same old cast but, uh, cool?

A rather fitting concept

As 2018 appears to be a year where people just don’t have a clue what they are doing, the quote from Meladandri that the “challenge for us has been to find something that really does feel like it’s not simply yet another film in a series of sequels,” hardly inspires confidence that this is a well though tout concept.’

This might be an absolute car crash, and it’s best we prepare for that. Without any real idea how to make it better or different from the original, I fear we might get a butchered version of the originals, devoid of the original patter and enjoyment while replaced with more sponsorship and dreadful puns.

Reboots. Eugh.

At Age 70 George R.R. Martin Begins Another GoT Project

George R. R. Martin has revealed the title of the first of the highly anticipated Game of Thrones prequel television shows. He confirmed on his website that the series will be titled The Long Night. He Tweeted, “Casting is now underway for THE LONG NIGHT, the first of the GAME OF THRONES successor series to ordered to film.”

Just last week, Oscar-nominated Australian actress Naomi Watts was cast in the show in an unspecified role. Martin responded to the announcement writing on his blog, “I could not be more excited. Welcome to Westeros, Naomi.”

The Long Night will be written by Jane Goldman who has also adapted the Kingsman films, The Woman In Black, and Kick-Ass for the silver screen. “She and her team are busy in London right now, neck deep in casting, and I expect some more names will be announced soon,” Martin said.

The 70-year-old author also teased about the other planned prequels, although he wouldn’t offer any details. “Meanwhile, there are still a couple of other possible prequels in active development,” he said. “I can’t tell you the subject matter of those projects, no, sorry, wish I could.”

HBO which produces Game of Thrones has up to five spin-offs from the show currently in production. The final season of the show, scheduled to air in 2019, will reportedly have the biggest battle in entertainment history.

The network released a description for The Long Night as follows: “Taking place thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones, the series chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. And only one thing is for sure: From the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East, to the Starks of legend… it’s not the story we think we know.”

If the prequel does indeed get made to order, it would mark the first time in HBO’s history that a follow-up series has been made to one of its shows.

Justin Bieber’s #burritogate Scandal’s Surprising Explanation

Back on October 26, Justin Bieber was spotted doing something unusual according to reports – eating a burrito sideways like an apple. It was a paparazzi photo seen around the world, and many were reportedly left confused and some even upset by the pic. Surprisingly, news stations picked it up, while blogs went wild over it.

The story was picked up by USA Today, Vice, Vanity Fair and the San Francisco Chronicle, among others. Victoria’s Secret Model, Chrissy Teigen, came to Bieber’s defense Tweeting, “the only way they should be eaten tbh, ends are just carb factories.”

Now, the truth has come out that the burrito-harmonica moment was all staged, and even more shockingly, the person in the photo wasn’t Bieber, it was a Canadian lookalike named Brad Sousa. The entire thing was staged and set up by a team of YouTubers called “Yes Theory” where Sousa dressed up the singer’s doppelgänger. After posting the image on Reddit, the team waited for the internet to do its thing. They also reposted it to another subreddit where it soon reached the top spot. The team were swamped with media requests for interviews and played along before deciding to reveal their elaborate prank.

“Yes Theory” posted a video of the prank, detailing how they got together with Sousa and watching the paparazzi take videos in order to capture his current hairstyle, tattoos, sense of fashion, and mannerisms. The ensuing photos were snapped, leaked, and posted, and thus an internet meme was born. “We were trying to think of something that would offend the internet,” the team explained in the video.

What was the reason for the prank? “We wanted to prove a point, that staging a story, as goofy as it was, can be done much more easily than most people can imagine,” “Yes Theory” explained. The question remains, however, does Justin Bieber know how to eat a burrito? We’ve got a feeling that the next time Bieber’s in the vicinity of a Chipotle, all eyes are going to be on him.

Netflix Genres Boring You? Open Them Up Today

Netflix is, easily, one of the most popular online platforms used today. Millions of users curl up in front of their TV to watch their on-demand shows, when they want. While some of us complain that Netflix has too much choice, some people find it hard to choose. For example, their genre selections are, at best, poor. You can find it hard to really dig into what you wish to watch, which soon becomes an exercise in frustration.

To solve that problem, we recommend that you take a look at this easy to use Netflix genre cracker. This opens up thousands of new genres to look through when searching for movies. If you are sick of the same old genres giving you eyebrow raising returns, you can use this simple solution to open up the floor to some far more interesting movie choices.

Making the most of Netflix

To start off with, thanks to What’s On Netflix for coming across this awesome little trick. You will need to use a variety of specific codes to open up Netflix much more, giving you much more control over what you watch.

For example, if you wanted to find something very particular, you can. Mad genres appear, like “Bellydancing” and even “Campy Chinese Movies” – they have a little hidden sub-category for any kind of movie that you can think of. To make this work, all you need to do is type in the following URL:

https://www.netflix.com/browse/genre/XXXX

All you need to do is swap out XXXX for the genre you wish to browse through, and voila. You can find all of the codes that you need online, making it easy to tap into over 70,000 hidden sub-genres. It’s very interesting, and makes it easy for you to make your Netflix experience a touch more specific.

Many of us spend hours just flicking through Netflix hoping to find something decent. With this, you make more or less certain that you can find something worth watching. However, opening up the floor so much will mean potentially making it even harder to choose. If you struggle to make a choice with the options already on Netflix, make sure you have a rough idea of the genre that you wish to watch.

Decision making falls through the floor when we have too many options, so try and limit in your mind the kind of movie youwish to watch. Then, start your browser search. If you go on with so many new options to pick from, you will likely just make what is already a hard choice even harder than it needs to be!

The Discovery Channel is at it again. After initial belief that the show might be canceled due to the death of one of its main stars, they’ve decided to bring back The Last Alaskans for season 4. It’s a docuseries about a group of “modern-day pioneers” who live in The Refuge, the largest protected wilderness in the U.S.

battling it to the end and give a chance for fans to say goodbye”

I don’t think it would be easy for me to watch the renewed series with the trust I had a few years ago. Now that we know of so many times the Discovery Channel was not straight with us and practically tricking us into believing that what we see on their shows is real.

This season we will meet Bob Harte again, but this time as a cancer patient who is, as Discovery describes it: ‘battling it to the end and give a chance for fans to say goodbye”. Bob grew on us in the last seasons, but following him to his death? Quite low in my world.

We will also meet a family who will try to survive it during winter in the refuge. They, of course, also have internal family disputes, for the enjoyment of the viewers. Another couple will bring their baby girl into the refuge and put her in danger to get their 15 minutes of fame. Isn’t that nice.
Another man we would be seeing is a guy who needs to save his family business which was almost completely destroyed during the summer fires.

And the truth?

they've decided to bring back The Last Alaskans for season 4.

That’s the main issue here. Discovery channel has not been straight with us on so many of their shows, such as Bear Grylls, Alaskan Bush People (Alaska again), Gold Rush and many more.
Why should we think that this show would be different? Would they really put a baby in danger with a chance to freeze or starve? I don’t think so.
So yes, these types of shows have a crowd, but please… how gullible does the Discovery channel think we are? Pretty much if they keep sending these shows our way.
