Once Again Meghan Markle Speaks Up For Ethical, Sustainable Fashion

Meghan Markle has hit the news again championing her fashion choice with the STAUD sustainable fashion during her African tour. The royal family has always been in the limelight so she has stepped up with her choice in clothing that’s dear to her heart.  Sarah Staudinger, the co-founder of STAUD, was so honored that Meghan chose to wear one of her designs, a recycled nylon dress.

During her visit to the Auwal Mosque with Prince Harry, she wore an olive green shirt dress with a cream-coloured headscarf and flats.  Not only was the look very chic but was made entirely from recycled nylon, showing her need to speak up for an eco-friendly lifestyle.

The designer told the press that the response to Meghan’s choice in clothing has been incredible and has given her great exposure to a much larger audience.  This dress can be pre-ordered for $325.

Zero-Waste Fashion

From the beginning of the tour, her sustainable theme in clothing was apparent with her black and white print dress from Mayamiko.  Mayamiko is an ethical, zero-waste fashion line that uses reclaimed, re-cycled materials along with locally sourced fabrics from Malawi.

Mayamiko has stepped up and trained disadvantaged women in their workshop and many of these women suffer from the HIV pandemic.  Their line of clothing is produced in limited supplies and therefore Meghan’s Dalitso Dress was sold out almost immediately.

Meghan has also worn outfits she has re-cycled from her own closet, such as her blue Veronica Beard shirt dress and her striped Martin Grant maxi dress which she wore on her last tour.

This is not the first time the Duchess has chosen clothes from her closet, she also revamped a black jumpsuit from her Everlane collection which she wore in a video for British Vogue last September. This video was called Forces For Change which she played a large role in editing.

She has become a positive role model for women everywhere with her views about eco-friendly fashion.  Zofia Day, Los Angeles-based and founder of Lisette Polyn Jewelry, said Meghan chose her pave diamond and gold bracelet to accessorize her Everlane jumpsuit.

She went on to say that Meghan is showing women that it’s beautiful to be conscious of our environment and you can make choices that make a difference.

This project has been a passion of Meghan’s since she and Harry announced their engagement.  As a matter of fact, during one of her first royal walking tours, she wore a sustainable Welsh denim brand from Hiut Denim Co which creates organic sustainable jeans and employs from their own community.

The Duchess also dons ethical and socially conscious lines like Gabriela Hirst, Maggie Marilyn, Reformation, and Outland Denim. She chose Stella McCartney to design her evening wedding reception dress.  Stella is considered an early pioneer of ethical fashion.

Many women have watched Meghan emerge as someone passionate about our environment and feel a need to make a strong statement to other women that it is chic and fashionable to wear clothes from recycled materials.  Not only does she always look amazing, but she will not be a hypocrite when it comes to how she addresses concerns for our planet.

Each one of us should take a little time and go through our closets and see what we can bring back into the light of day.  How many of us have clothes we have worn once and then just locked up in our closets never to be worn again?  Maybe it’s time to reconsider!

Ivanka Trump Rocks Mom’s Cocktail Dress

Ivanka Trump seems to have reached into her Mom’s closet for a recent wedding weekend in Rome. Ivanka wore a glam Bob Mackie cocktail dress her mother donned 28 years ago.

For her visit to the Italian Capital for the wedding ceremony of fashion designer Misha Nonoo and oil heir Michael Hess, Ivanka wore a shiny white, gold and black cocktail dress on the second night of the lavish affair.

The 37-year-old first daughter and White House Adviser sported a swept-back updo, red lipstick and gold strappy heels as accessories in a photo shared to her Instagram story.

The Bob Mackie dress was first worn by Ivana Trump in 1991. Since then, her daughter has borrowed the fringed outfit twice. The first time being a fashion designer Joseph Altuzarra’s wedding in 2014.

Glamourous Affair

The White House first daughter and husband, Jared Kushner, in-laws Karlie Kloss and Joshua Kushner, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Princess Eugenie, Princess Beatrice, Orlando Bloom, and Katy Perry were some of the 300 guests present at the Nonoo and Hess’ multi-day wedding celebration, held at the classy Villa Aurelia.

Learn How to Sell Your Used Clothes Online or Host a Clothing Swap

While you are purchasing in quality garments, you might want to consider buying cheaper fashions by shopping secondhand or offer clothing you no longer want and make money by selling them! If you get in the practice of taking care of your clothes, you can pass them on to other people who will fall in love with them.

Here’s some advice for hosting a successful clothing swap:

Selling:

If you have high-quality clothes, you might want to sell them or get on sites that are now set up for people to sell clothing they no longer want such as Buffalo Exchange or Square Space just to name two.

Swapping:

Invite a crew, create a playlist, provide snacks, and get ready to clean out your closet. Presenting a clothing swap is one of the best ways to get rid of clothing you are not going to ever wear again. You will help stop the avalanche of clothing ending up in landfills, harming the environment.

According to the McKinsey Report, consumers have purchased over 60% more clothes in 2014 than in 2000. Over the past 20 years, the fashion industry has produced far too many clothes that are cheaper but consumers will only wear for a brief period of time before tossing them out. These clothes are the fastest growing items of waste that are filling up our landfills.

Keep Your Standards High –

You want people to buy items they’d be happy to give as gifts to friends and family. Make sure your clothes are not stained or ripped. Check over your clothes before offering them for sale or swapping.

Organize Your Clothes –

Organize your clothing in categories such as tops, pants, dresses, size, and shoes. This would only work if you have enough items to do so, otherwise, it could be overkill.

Create An Appealing Display –

Provide racks or tables so potential buyers or swappers can go through the items easily. If limited, you can also use the floor or your sofa.

Plan For Consumers Wanting To Try Items On –

Make sure they have a place to try items on such as a bedroom or bathroom as a changing room. Have a full-length mirror for them to view the outfit.

Have A Give-Back Plan –

If friends have contributed to the clothing swap, be prepared to give them back. Any items that are left behind, find organizations that will take in donations.

While you are purchasing in quality garments, you might want to consider buying cheaper fashions by shopping secondhand or offer clothing you no...

New Probiotic Suit Fights Body Odor

A bio-engineered bodysuit could handle unpleasant body-odor with micro-organisms woven into its fibers.

Named “Skin II,” the leotard-like piece of clothing incorporats live, healthy probiotic bacteria that, when activated by perspiration, can diminish personal odors, help skin cells regenerate and improve our immune system.

“It’s not the sweat on your body that causes body odor, it’s the bacteria,” designer Rosie Broadhead told Reuters in an interview. “So we’ve incorporated healthy bacteria into the textiles to enable a healthy microbiome which will help to reduce your body odor,”

With her probiotic fabric, Broadhead hopes to revolutionize the interaction between fabric and skin. Other than its health (and social life!) aspects, she’s also keen on the environmental impact of her invention:

“My project offers an alternative to chemicals such as antibacterial finishes on clothing and cosmetics,” Broadhead says, “Due to the deodorizing effect the probiotics have on the body, it may reduce the amount of time you need to wash your clothes.”

Our modern life fixation on cleanliness makes it hard for “good” micro-organisms to survive, so Skin II is a big opportunity for sustainable fashion.

Probiotics are living micro-organisms that are beneficial to our bodies when in sufficient amounts. Probiotics are found naturally in some foods, like yogurt, and, surprisingly, pickles, but you can also take them as dietary supplements.

Broadhead collaborated with Belgian microbiologist Chris Callewaert of Ghent University to develop the fabric. Callewaert has done extensive research on the causes of body odor, and he provided her with probiotic bacteria. This bacteria are found on our skin and are different from the digestive system bacteria we all know from food products.

“A lot of focus is on the fashion industry’s unsustainable practices concerning waste and environmental impact,” says Broadhead, “However, much less is known about the use of chemical finishes on our clothing that can impact our bodies.”

She wanted to create clothing that was good for the skin, but has a minimal impact on the environment, “which meant using technology that had a deodorizing effect. By working with probiotics that are common on our skin I have developed ways to add function and performance to our clothing in a natural way.”

Broadhead and Callewaert plan to market Skin II with a full sportswear line, and in this heat – we just can’t wait for it to hit the shelves :-)

Instagram Account Devoted to Spotting ‘The Dress’

If you’re headed to Zara any time to get a new dress any time soon, you may want to read this article first to make sure you’re not buying the same exact dress that it seems women all over the world have been drawn to.

It’s relatively well-known that Zara has fashion-forward designs that are, at the same time, affordable; as a result, it has become quite popular among young shoppers, but one particular design seems to be a favorite. In fact, it’s become viral in Britain! People know it so well that it’s referred to as just “the dress” and has an entire Instagram account dedicated to sightings of it.

To give Zara credit, the dress is extremely appealing – I’m tempted to go pick one up myself! The website describes it as a “flowing, round neck dress with sleeves falling below the elbow. Featuring a ruffled hem and a buttoned opening in the back” and is selling it for $69.90 in sizes XS to XXL, according to The New York Times.

The Dress gets Social

The Instagram account, run by stylist Faye Oakenfull, is called “Hot 4 The Spot.” Oakenfull told The New York Times, “‘The Dress’ and I originally met on a set back in Easter when both the art director and makeup artist came in wearing it.

I posted it on my Instagram story as an ‘awkward fashion moment’ […] It then started to escalate, with many people sending me their own sightings. After a few weeks it seemed to be so popular on my stories that I decided to start a new account to keep on top of the content.” The account bio describes it as “A safe Space for *the dress*.”

Oakenfull has even come up with the typical person you’d see around the UK wearing the dress:

“I can be pretty certain where she’ll be hanging out at weekends,” Oakenfull told The Times. “She loves a bottomless brunch, food markets, day festivals, tennis, baby showers (sometimes hers), hen dos, polo, work parties, weddings, rooftop bars, and poolside prosecco. Most of all, she just really loves food shopping in [the British retailer] Marks & Spencer.”

With over 5,000 followers, the account regularly posts not only photos of people in the dress all over the world, but also memes about people’s love for the dress. There has been some opposition to the account, however, reports The New York Times.

Some of the posts are pictures people have taken of themselves, but many are candid shots taken without people’s knowledge, though the posts don’t include their faces.

“Let women wear the same dress or coat as everyone else. Let them meet their friends or go to the supermarket without fearing that they’ll end up the butt someone else’s joke online,” Sophie Benson wrote for Metro.

The account presses on despite some criticism, and its growing number of followers don’t seem to resent it. In fact, it’s not the only account of its kind. An account wholly devoted to leopard midi skirts has also begun as a result of their popularity in the U.S., especially in New York City.

If you’re headed to Zara any time to get a new dress any time soon, you may want to read this article first to make sure you’re not buying the same exact dress that it seems women all over the world have been drawn to.

How to Dry Clean at Home

In today’s age, everyone is wearing workout clothing in other places such as at the workplace or for a casual occasion.  Most workout clothes are made from materials that can be easily thrown in the washer and that’s it.

That said, we all have other clothes such as cashmere sweaters or silk pants with labels that clearly say “dry clean only”.  You know you cannot throw them in your washer without damaging them, so you pack them up and head off to your dry cleaner and spend a good chunk of change to get them cleaned.

After speaking with people in the know, we discovered you do not have to run off to your dry cleaner!  There are dry clean only items that can actually be had washed!

What you don’t know, that label that reads “dry clean only” is actually a way for the manufacturers to not be held accountable if the instructions are not followed to the “T”.  The sole purpose for these labels allows the manufacturers to place the blame on the dry cleaners if an item is damaged.

The DIY DryClean Experiment

Well, back in 2014, an experiment was conducted by taking a series of items with labels for dry cleaning, washed them, and then recorded the results.  It seems cashmere, silk, and polyester did really well but tailored suits or decorative detailed tops did not do well.

Note – these items were not thrown into a washing machine with other items such as sportswear or socks.  They were washed by hand but before deciding to hand wash these items, you should perform a spot test first.

If you are a little trepidatious, test these items in an area that is inconspicuous to the eye and find out how the material reacts to water.  If you find the color is bleeding, the area you tested is shrinking or there’s puckering, you should take it to the dry cleaner.

Keep in mind, there are materials that should never be washed such as leather, suede, rayon, and polyamide fabrics unless the label clearly states the item can be washed.

Also, if you prefer to take these items to the dry cleaner but have no plans of going there every week, you can purchase a fabric freshener, like Fabreze, to keep the item fresh for a longer period of time.

In many cases items that require dry cleaning are usually more expensive to buy so it’s very understandable why you might prefer not to run the risk of washing these items and cause damage On the other hand, if you are willing to give it a shot, there are several really excellent products for hand-washing such as Woolite.

‘Mushroom Blond’ Hair Is Summer’s Biggest New Trend

The trend of using food to describe our hair colors has grown. Not only do we have toasted coconut, peach cobbler, and cold brew, but the latest trend is having mushroom blond hair. According to Pinterest, this last shade is quickly overtaking the others with searches on the site up by a whopping 308 percent.

Mushrooms may sound a bit bland and boring at first, but from the looks of it, it’s the exact opposite.

Mushrooms colors are soooo interesting!

If you’ve ever studied a mushroom, you’d notice that its colors are multifaceted. You’ll find multiple shades of dark and light brown, even blonde, and the hair color truly reflects those ashy shades you’d find in a mushroom. It’s an in-between color – not quite blonde but not quite brown.

“It’s right in between light brown and dark blond, like an ashier version of brond,” says Stephani Brown, master colorist at New York City’s IGK Salon Soho. As a result, the shade is a great choice for those not wanting a drastically lighter or darker color, yet it gives an edgy, unique look.

“I love the idea of using mushrooms to describe the tone of the hair color,” says Joel Warren, celebrity colorist and founder of the Salon Project. “They have so many different tones of beige and gray that are hard to describe. These tones evolved from the gray and silver trend to a slightly more natural look. The combinations with highlights and low lights gives a beautiful modern look.”

Typically, people want to choose a warmer shade for the summer, but that’s all the reason not to. What better way to stand out than to try something different from the regular? In addition, mushroom blonde is extremely low-maintenance according to Brown.

It’s a more grown-out look which needs a touch up only every three to six months or even up to a full year depending on your hair length. Another reason it’s a great choice for a fun, easy-going hair color this summer!

If you’re considering trying out mushroom blonde for yourself, Brown recommends that you ask your colorist for a subtle light brown or dark blonde ombre that has a variation of both light brown and dark blond pieces.

Be sure to mention the word ashy to keep it from going towards a more traditional blond look. It’s always helpful to bring some photos to give an idea of what exactly you’re going for and to help ensure the product is to your liking.

Ideas For Easy Makeovers For Your Home

Redesigning your living areas can be quite a time consuming and often overwhelming. Have you ever sat down and just stared at an area you want to upgrade but have not found the motivation to get to work?

We have found the best way to deal with your anxiety and lack of motivation is to start with something small.  If you have a large project for a living area, break it up into small “to-do” jobs, you will be amazed how quickly the entire project will move along and each small makeover will give you a lot of satisfaction.

First off, taking a large project and breaking it into smaller jobs will be a great deal more manageable and you will become even more motivated to move on to the next one.  Here are some really great ideas for upgrades that shouldn’t take longer than an afternoon but will deliver excellent results:

A Small Wallpapering Project:

Consider wallpapering just a certain area of your room vs trying to wallpaper the entire area. Consider adding a really nice print to an access wall or maybe the back of a display case. The idea is to create something that will visually draw someone’s attention.

Choose a pattern or color for your wallpaper that will compliment the rest of your room.  One thought might be choosing a wallpaper that has a simple interesting design.  Find something that will work with your décor but not become overbearing.

Using wallpaper on a piece of furniture such as a bookcase or display case that has very plain lines, can spruce it up.  This is a very easy project that you can finish in just a few hours at tops.

Dress Your Furniture Up With New Hardware:

Sometimes, the simplest project can actually have a huge effect.  Why not replace your old handles on your dresser with new, intricate brass or a nice floral design on knobs?  Try a whimsical design for your nightstand such as leather pulls or in a child’s room – animal faces printed on knobs!

If you are redoing your kitchen, there are so many wonderful kitchen themes to choose from for your cabinets.  Handles shaped like tomatoes or lettuce or apples and pears, the sky’s the limit! Maybe your cabinets came out of the fifties and you want them to be retro and modern.  You do not have to go crazy just shop around for modern, sleek designs for the hardware.

Add Some Interesting Artwork To Your Walls:

Artwork has a habit of bringing new life to a room while covering up scratches or imperfections in your painted walls.  You can shop around for artwork or get a little creative and pull out all those wonderful pictures you stowed away and frame them!

Another idea, get a large frame and make a collage of your favorite pictures.  Have a nice simple material for the background, add simple frames to each image and then place them in the large frame.  This small project will not take much time but will give your room a whole new look!

Another idea, have someone make a box with sectionals and place small antiques such as wooden soldiers in each section.

Add Shelving To Display Your Collectibles:

If you are a collector of small teacups, why not have shelves installed on your walls to show them off instead of hiding them somewhere to collect dust.  Really simple floating shelves do not require a lot of work and are quite easy to hang.

The one tool you will need is a stud finder to decide where to hang your collectibles.  Also, depending on their weight, make sure you have the right hardware that will be strong enough to hold the objects.  If you need some advice, talk to someone at your home improvement store.

Add The Magical Touch Of Lighting:

I’m not sure there is anything that adds a more impressive look than new lighting fixtures. Add a new chandelier or wall sconces. Trade out your tired old fifties chandelier with something really modern, sleek, and retro!

You would be amazed by how modern your space will become.  Unless you know how to rewire, it is strongly suggested you bring in a professional who can get the new wiring done in a very short period of time.  If you have an overhead ceiling light, why not trade it in for a really nice fan with lights that matches your décor and colors.

You can have your electrician add a dimmer switch to boot!

Give Your Plants Something To Rejoice In:

Too often, we buy plants and just place them in a corner in the same old pots they came in.  Over time, this is not healthy for the plants due to a lack of needed nutrients and the roots will start outgrowing their space.

Think about placing them in beautiful new planters that accentuate your room and will make your plants very happy! You can choose from ceramic planters, terracotta, or other interesting materials.  If you want to go with colorful planters, pick an accent color that is already a part of your room.

Redesigning your living areas can be quite a time consuming and often overwhelming. Have you ever sat down and just stared at an area you want to upgrade but have not found the motivation to get to work?

We have found the best way to deal with your anxiety...

  1. Go for Gothic

A lot of neo-Gothic looks are appearing on the streets this year.  It’s an easy look to replicate by pairing a head-to-toe black outfit with some up-to-date accessories.  You can use whatever takes your fancy but the mood needs to be kept dark, moody and chic.  Adding a deep red lipstick can add that bit of extra glamour.

  1. Bright Coloured Tartan

Another popular print for the 2019 show season has been the brightest colors of tartan.  This look has been seen across London, Paris, New York and Milan this summer.

  1. Bringing Back the Bucket Hat

The bucket hat was really the must-have accessory back in the 1990’s and it has made a big return this year.  If this is not on your fashion shopping list for this year, then it should be!  It is functional, giving great sun protection, but also stylish enough to be perfect for your weekend get-together.

The hats come plain or with logos and patterns and can be worn with multiple outfits – dresses, boiler suits, whatever takes your fancy.

  1. Perfect Patchwork

Patchwork has become one of fashion’s hottest trends this year; seen on the streets in all of the major fashion cities.  Using different fabrics to create a wonderfully eclectic look these outfits are sure to catch the eye.

  1. Shrunken Bags

Size is what defines this year’s ‘must have’ handbag.  The 2019 bag can be any shape but size is everything – these diminutive bags are designed to fit only the bare essentials.  The smallest can barely fit a mobile phone and a lipstick but it is perfect for those who want style over functionality.

If you want the top look this season invest in one of these tiny shrunken bags.  It may not carry very much but it looks good and you won’t be tempted to load it up.

  1. Bike Shorts Paired with Blazers

Super chic and versatile athleisure is sure to be an ongoing trend for the foreseeable future.  This pairing – bike shorts with a blazer – is proving popular among trend-setters at the shows this year.

The use of sportswear plus the tailored jacket will be sure to make you stand out in any crowd.  It’s not a style you could wear to work or the gym but it is perfect for seeing and being seen at all the trendy spots in town, or just for meeting with friends for a summer lunch in the pub garden.

  1. Be an Animal!

Leopard print has made a real return this fashion season and all of the top style icons can be seen in bold, wild animal prints.  Leopard print has been particularly popular this year and is appearing on trousers, coats, suits and dresses and so much more!

Pair up the print with some bold colors and you will be right on trend.  Alternatively, go for the complete bodysuit in leopard print, paired with some colorful accessories.  Of course, you can go minimalist with a plain outfit paired with a playful pair of leopard print shoes or a funky bag.

Whatever you choose, embrace your wild side!

  1. Boiler Suits are Back!

The boiler suit is one of a variety of utilitarian designs making an appearance in all of the major fashion week shows this season.  Formerly used as work protection the boiler suit is dominating this year, being both functional and fashionable.

These suits come in multiple cuts and colors so you are sure to find one that appeals.  You will never be short on choice, with short sleeved versions for hot summer days or the longer sleeves for cool summer evenings.

  1. Lavender is In

Lavender is the color that most fashionistas can be seen in this year, so you can be sure that anything that comes in light purple is hot on style.  You can choose the head-to-toe lavender look, or stick to an accent like a handbag or boots.

Lavender dresses and coats give a chic and feminine look. If you want to keep your style up-to-date and understated you could do worse that trying out the lavender look this year.

  1. Pretty Puff Shoulders

This year minimalism takes a back seat in favor of fabric – an abundance of fabric in fact.  Lots of bold ruffles, along with puff shoulders are making a comeback on blouses and dresses.

These give an 80’s retro look and feel with a stunning modern twist.  This look would certainly give you a stand-out style, however, be sure to pair it with something less bold to keep the look tasteful.

High School Junior Makes Dream Prom Dress for Date

When it comes to our High School prom, we all know how big and important it makes us feel. For a lot of kids, it’s one of those nights that they look back on with lifelong affection. Sadly, like most events we go to as teens and kids, our proms are often places where a lot of judgments about people are made.

How expensive your suit/dress is becoming a major part of the argument for a lot of people. Sadly, we live in a society where we rate how ‘cool’ someone is based on how much their parents can afford to spend on a dress.

However, Parker Smith wasn’t one for putting up with such nonsense. This kid, who must go down as one of the most awesome kids in his generation, decided that he wanted to do something special.

Despite having no sewing skills whatsoever, he learned the art and created the dream prom dress for his prom date. She and her family couldn’t afford to buy her the dream gown she wanted, and so Mr. Smith stepped up to the plate – and then some.

His partner for the evening, Addi Rust, couldn’t afford the dream gown that she wanted. So when she asked Parker to make the dress for her – mostly as a joke – he decided to set about doing so. Judging by the photos, he has done an absolutely amazing job on the sewing job.

He would make parts of the dress more than once in a bid to perfect the style and shape of the design. Of course, Mr. Smith didn’t do this all on his own: like any smart boy, he got help from his beloved grandmother to help him make sure it was just right!

A prom dream come true

A beautiful blue ball gown came into being, then, and Addi was able to head off to prom looking absolutely fantastic – while being at prom date with one of the best up-and-coming young sewers in the community, from the looks of things!

He kept adding more and more to it, eventually creating an endearing and creative dress that perfectly achieved the aim: making Addi very happy on her big evening. Addi knew what it was going to look like throughout the process, as Parker kept her up-to-date on the entire process.

She even praised him on social media for his amazing attention to detail, and for creating a wonderful prom dress that, clearly, made her very happy indeed. Remember girls, if you’re going to get a prom date, make sure it’s a guy who has the skills and the self-belief to create an outfit for you!

Playing right up to his role as Prince Charing, he even played the role of slipping on a white heel onto her fool – a proper Cinderella story that we can all enjoy!

UK Using Smart Billboards to Secretly Ad-target Shoppers

Many shopping centers in the UK have adopted a new kind of ad technique that involves surveillance cameras in shopping center billboards. These cameras are used to spy on you in order to show you the “correct” advertisement. The new technology has the ability to identify your age, gender, and even mood.

The smart boards detect how long certain customers look at advertisements and then change what they display depending on who is walking past.

So far, The Sunday Times has happened upon 50 of these screens in the UK; several of them can be found at Westfield shopping center in Shepherd’s Bush, London.

Apparently, companies utilizing this equipment don’t legally need to inform their shoppers that they are being filmed because the system complies with the UK’s data protection laws. Since no individually identifying information is being collected or stored, no laws are being broken.

First Company to Try This

One of the first companies to try this system out is Ocean Outdoor. The LookOut system is found in multiple tracking billboards throughout the UK.

Tim Bleakley, the company’s chief executive, told The Sunday Times: “We pioneered a facial detection technology which identifies the characteristics of the face to allow you to talk to advertisers about mood, gender, emotion and those kinds of things. We can measure the level of happiness or sadness. We can measure the dwell time.”

Bleakley told of how satisfied the supermarket executives of Waitrose were when they sprayed fake snow into the store and saw how evidently ‘customer happiness levels’ rose.

The cameras installed into the billboards spend every hour analyzing the shoppers to see what kind of people shopped and when they shopped. At times, shoppers are even inserted into adverts, a feature called ‘interactive advertising.’ One promotional video from Ocean Outdoor implied that the technology can determine how many ‘affluent’ people are in the area.

One of the billboards at Canary Wharf stated that 49 percent of people walking past that day were “affluent” and earned “over £100,000 ($129,000).”

The technology of Ocean Outdoor can be used on roadside billboards to figure the price of passing cars and advertise expensive things to those it thinks have lots of money.

Quividi is a French firm that also sells the facial detection technology and says that it collects and processes images of people in milliseconds but then deletes them forever once their basic profile information has been taken. Determining someone’s gender can be done with 90 percent accuracy within a five-year age bracket.

Many shopping centers in the UK have adopted a new kind of ad technique that involves surveillance cameras in shopping center billboards. These cameras are used to spy on you in order to show you the “correct” advertisement. The new technology has the...

Are These Grass Shoes Set To Change The Industry?

When Nike tend to release a new pair of shoes, they tend to make a big splash in the market. As one of the market leaders and one of the most innovative companies around, they tend to know how to add something new to the market. Their latest product release, though, might be a step too far in the radical direction for some: a pair of shoes covered in grass.

These new golf shoes, made from grass, were recently set out as one of their biggest moves in the 2019 market. While it looks rather odd to begin with, it’s definitely something a little different to the norm. It is, though, definitely an interesting concept: and one that we’re sure plenty of golf fans will probably love putting on their feet.

The price of $149, though, will immediately put quite a lot of people off making the investment in the first place. They are supposed to blend in with whatever grass you happen to be playing on, which is quite an interesting take. Usually, we wear shoes to make sure we don’t blend into the ground too much!

A New Take On Turf

As you might imagine, too, the shoes brought more than their fair share of comical complaints and positive responses. As one user so eloquently put it: “Why would I want to play a gold shoe that makes you look like you are playing out of the rough!”

However, Nike are one of the largest manufacturers around, and have a bit of a habit of being trend-setters. We can probably see these selling pretty well, even if they would definitely not appeal to the average punter. Known for their innovation and desire to break trends, a pair of grass-made shoes might just do that!

Outside of their rather creative look, these shoes are also supposed to be designed to provide high quality comfort when playing golf. They might look a little on the wild side, but it’s fair to say that these must have a market for them – why else would Nike make them unless they’d see that there was an interest in such a release?

Meet Shudu – The First Instagram Avatar Model

Only a few years ago the biggest fashion houses in the world relied on scouting for models to find people with the perfect features to match their brand. This went on for a long time, and many supermodels were discovered. Now some years later it has become too hectic of a task to organize campaigns and castings to scout for models.

We have found out that the perfect model can be created in 3D. We are still in awe of the features of Shudu. She is the 3D creation of the London based photographer Cameron James Wilson. Shudu is an African model; she has already gathered over 130,000 followers on Instagram since she was introduced as the first digital model.

The creation of Shudu is not very surprising; we have seen new innovative apps that can be used to transform pictures into sketches and other fancy images. The filters have also been improved to make pictures on smartphones look extraordinary.

The widespread use of digital pictures creates a potential market for innovative people like Cameron. He can start getting offers to use Shudu on the cover of digital magazines rather than the companies going through the long process of finding real models for their covers.

Another popular digital model named Lil Miquela is already making the news in this area. She has already been featured on the cover of some magazines and has a growing social media following that will increase her popularity.

The advantage creators of digital models have is that designers and editors of magazines are interested in using new faces. Models that have never been used by other brands. It is almost impossible because successful models have earned their fame and money by working with many big brands.

Cameron has taken this business seriously; he sees a huge potential and a lot of future possibilities. Cameron recently launched his agency called The Digital which is going to be focused on creating and developing more digital models to meet the needs of the fashion and entertainment companies.

When asked how much it costs to create one 3D model avatar Cameron reveals that it costs thousands of dollars and many hours. There are a lot of details to consider such as the features of the model. The clients need perfection, and this is what his company aims to provide.

Digital models are easier to work with; all the editors need is a good computer and lots of time to do the editing. It will be relatively cheaper to work with avatars than real models that can make absurd demands and hold projects to ransom because of their personal needs. However, the digital model avatars will not put the real human models out of a job because of the runway.

The challenge for Cameron and other creators of the digital avatar is to make their creations look as real as possible. It is going to be quite distracting for viewers when they know the model they are looking at is not a real human with obvious graphics features. However, when they look indisputably real, the digital avatars will eventually be accepted globally.
