Celebrity Splits Of 2018

Although 2018 was a lucky year for love with some Hollywood couples, for many it was the year they said goodbye to their relationships, new and old. Take a look as we count down all the celeb breakups so far of this year. Just take a look at these two once love birds, Robert De Niro, and Grace Hightower. Well, they were lovebirds. FOR 20 YEARS!

The two decide to call it quits after 20 years of marriage. A close source to the couple said to People Magazine: "Sometimes things don't work out the way you hope or want them to."
They go married back in 1997 and have two kids, Elliott (20) and Helen Grace (6).

If you remember, this isn't the first time they split. Back in 1999 De Niro filed for divorce, but they worked it out and even renewed their vows in 2004.
The last time they were seen together was at the Tony Awards in June 2018. De Niro has two kids from his previous wife Diahnne Abbott (1976 to 1988), Drena (47) and Raphael (42), and another two with his 1995 girlfriend Touki Smith, twins Aaron and Julian.

Pete Davidson & Ariana Grande

Their whirlwind romance and engagement ended as quickly as it started. TMZ shocked fans when they announced the couple split on October 14th. According to sources, the split occurred a few days before it was reported, and no bad blood was spilled. Rather it ended with both parties acknowledging that it simply was not the right time for their relationship to take off," TMZ explained, though added, "the two aren't ruling out the possibility of anything in the future."

Find out who else split up in 2018:

Paris Hilton & Chris Zylka.

The two got engaged in January 2018, and now, almost 11 months after that special date – they called it off. Not only the engagement but the whole relationship. The reports say that the relationship between Hilton, 37, and Chris, 33, “started to become off-kilter after about two years together."

Hilton will continue to DJ while Chris will keep up his acting and art career. They began dating in early 2017.

One day after news broke about the breakup, it was also revealed that Chris wants the US$ 2 million engagement ring back. He is, by the way, entitled to the ring because under California law, if she decided to break it up, Chris can get the ring back.

Jenni "JWoww" Farley & Roger Mathews

Now this one was dramatic which isn’t surprising since JWoww Jenny Farley always had a flair for the dramatic. She filed for divorce from her husband of three years, Roger Farley after less than three years together on September 12th. The two share two kids together, Meilani,4, and Greyson, 2.

Despite her decision, her husband Rogers is far from giving up on their relationship and made his stance very clear. he posted a long post on his Instagram expressing his feelings and desire to fight for their marriage

"I don't blame her. There's no cheating… She just grew tired of the repetitive pattern that we fell into with... it was a repetitive pattern and not a good one," he said on Instagram after the filing was made public.

"But here's what's also true: I'm not done fighting. I'm gonna win my wife back. I'm gonna win her affection back. I'm gonna win her love back. I have no intentions of being a single dad. We're in counselling, so there is hope. It ain't over until the fat lady sings."

Zac Brown & Shelly Brown

After 12 years of marriage and five kids together, Zac Brown Band frontman Zac Brown and his wife Shelly have decided to separate,  the couple gave a joined statement explaining their decision:

"We have led a whirlwind life together growing into a beautiful family with five amazing children and while life will be rearranging a bit, our love and commitment to our family will always be there," the pair told People magazine in a joint statement on Oct. 5.

"This was a difficult decision, but we've done plenty of tough things together and this is our next venture -- love, mutual respect, and care for each other are what we are moving forward with. Family comes in all different forms.

We would like to ask that rather than commenting or spending any energy towards this, that you take this moment to send love to your family, in honor of ours."

Holly Madison & Pasquale Rotella

Another amicable split came when Pasqual Rotella, a highly successful electronic music event promotor, filed for divorce from former House Bunny Holly Madison. TMZ reported that the divorce filing was made in Las Vegas on August 31st after five years of marriage.

In a lengthy Instagram post he wrote "It is with love in our hearts and a deep respect for one another that Holly and I have amicably made the decision to separate. First and foremost, we are forever partners and parents to two beautiful children and are fully committed to raising them in an environment filled with love and positivity,"

He went on to express his love and respect for the  former Playboy Playmate and reality TV star "a talented woman and a beautiful soul" and vowing to remain "the best of friends."

Ben Affleck & Lindsay Shookus

It’s been a rather intense year for Ben Affleck. Multiple outlets confirmed that at some point in late July Lindsay Shookus called it time on their one-year relationship. Reasons for the split differ according to who you ask although most sources claim the breakup came after Ben, 46, was spotted spending time with 22-year-old Playboy model Shauna Sexton.

Just days after they were spotted, Ben entered a Malibu rehab centre thanks to an intervention from estranged wife Jennifer Garner (that woman is a boss).

E! News reported, "both tried to make it work, but the distance just proved to be too much for them right now. Family comes first for them both." However, a second source told E! that it was Lindsay’s decision to stay in New York City with her daughter rather than live with Ben in Los Angeles that put tension on their relationship.

Yet another source reported to X17online that it was Ben’s struggle with addiction that pushed the Oscar winning Saturday Night Live producer over the edge. "Lindsay got fed up with dealing with Ben's issues," said an insider, "and ultimately that's what led to the end of the relationship."

Kourtney Kardashian & Younes Bendjima

Honestly, these two lasted longer than they should have and I for none always thought the most down-to-earth member of the Kardashian family deserved better. After two years of on-off dating Kourtney Kardashian, 39, and Younes Benjamin, 25 are finally over.

According to TMZ Kourtney became fed up after hearing that Younes allegedly cheated on her on his Italy vacation.

On Aug. 6, Younes was photographed in Mexico with his arms around former Hooters waitress Jordan Ozuna, who was previously romantically linked to Tyga and Justin Bieber

Pamela Anderson & Adil Rami

Pamela Anderson has a heart too big for her own good. After more than a year of dating she called it quits with European soccer star Adi Rami and reports from TMZ explained the heart-breaking reason why.

"It broke Pam's heart that he doesn't see them enough, as he should, so she's moving out," a source explained. "Pamela feels she is the reason Adil doesn't spend enough time with his children.

She is removing herself from his life, so he can do the right thing and be with his kids. It's a selfless move by Pamela, a true romantic -- and she is heartbroken.

Adil has difficulty balancing his life with Pamela and what should be a healthy relationship with his ex, the mother of his children... It's typical of Pamela to sacrifice for her love.

This is about his happiness and the sake of his sons. They need him more than her. She knows he'll thank her one day."

Despite the very righteous action, the two were spotted having dinner side by side on September 26th fuelling rumors of possible reunion.

Danielle Staub & Marty Caffrey

The Real Housewives of New Jersey cast know how to cause drama. Daniella Staub and husband Marty Caffrey ended their marriage after only a few months after weeks of fighting and mutual restraining orders.

E! News had the scoop and reported that Marty who married Daniella on May 5th in the Bahamas was the one who filed for divorce and serves her in September.

Brandon Jenner & Leah Jenner

Now this one was hard to swallow. Any Kardashian fans remembers seeing Brandon Jenner sand wife Leah popping up now and then on Keeping Up and looking like the sweetest couple. However, on Sepp. 10 after six years of marriage and 14 years together they announced their time as a couple had come to an end.

"We are deeply proud of the life we've cultivated together and are truly grateful for the bond of friendship we hold and cherish today. It is stronger than ever.

Even though we have chosen to separate as a couple, we still love one another very, very much and remain a major part of each other's lives -- as best friends, family and loving parents to our daughter."

They  also made sure to emphasize that there was no lying, cheating or fighting that caused them to separate. but rather "an expansion of our individual evolution which has inspired us to support each other in a new way." The couple share a young daughter, Eva

Ving Rhames & Deborah Rhames

Although Ving Rhames and wife Deborah actually split up a long time ago, it was only made public in October thanks to their fighting over support and custody issues.

On October it was reported in The Blast that the “Mission: Impossible" franchise star filed for separation in 2013. And surprisingly Deborah only responded to the "Pulp Fiction" actor's filing until 2016!

And if this couldn’t have been dragged on any longer, Ving only filed court papers in September 2018 asking to set a trial date so he and his ex could work through custody and child support for their kids- about time!

Michael Lohan & Kate Major

Lindsay Lohan’s dad, the reality TV star Michael Lohan and former entertainment reporter Kate Major have had one rollercoaster of a relationship. Four years of marriage, two sons and eight years up and down they have decided this year to divorce.

The Blast reported that on Sep. 5 Kate filed paperwork to end their union and asked for primary custody of their sons plus spousal and child support….this will be one interesting court case to unfold.

Channing Tatum & Jenna Dewan

Definitely the top of my list of most devastating splits this year is Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan, the couple that over the years truly made us feel that real love was possible. We were all shocked when on April 2nd, we found out that these two had decided to split.

"We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple," they said in a joint statement posted on their Instagram accounts.

"We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together. Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now.

There are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision -- just two best-friends realizing it's time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible."

Despite their very sweet words no one felt any better about the end of this dream couple who began dating after they both starred in 2006’s “Step Up”. They continued "We are still a family and will always be loving dedicated parents to Everly," they added in their statement.

"We won't be commenting beyond this, and we thank you all in advance for respecting our family's privacy. Sending lots of love to everyone, Chan&Jenna."

Recently the split has gotten even more real with Channing starting to date singer Jessie Jay and even introducing their daughter to the singer.

John Cena & Nikki Bella

It was a wrestling match made in heaven and when Cena proposed to Nikki Bella in the wrestling ring, fans couldn’t be more excited. However just weeks before they were set to say their vows in Mexico, they announced that they had decided too to split up.

Bella announced on her Instagram on April 15 "While this decision was a difficult one, we continue to have a great deal of love and respect for one another." A day later, People magazine reported that a source had revealed the wrestler-actor was getting cold feet as their wedding date got closer.

And poor Nikki was left tending a broken and shocked the source added. "She never gave him an ultimatum. He talked a really good game about having changed, about having his priorities straight, about knowing what's important, and that it was her.

But as the day got closer, it was like he just went back to who he's always been -- which is someone who puts himself first, always," the source told People.

"He's an incredibly dedicated, driven, ambitious guy. And for the longest time he said he didn't think he had room in his life for a spouse or kids. It seems like in the end that was still the truth."

Our hope was ignited for a short time when the two were spotted together in May nut in July Nikki vlogged that they were just friends and continuing to talk every day. But on July 30th, Nikki came with the news that they had decided to end their relationship for good.

After I called off the engagement, we tried to work on our relationship to get back to where it was, and in order to move forward with our wedding.

After much time and soul-searching alone and together, we have decided to officially part ways," she explained.

Jessica Serfaty & Ed Westwick

This was a hard year for Gossip Girl alum Ed Westwick. Not only was he accused of sexual misconduct (for which he was cleared of all allegation) but he and his girlfriend of over a year Jessica Serfaty called it quits. The actress also moved out of the home that they had bought and remodeled together.

A Sun report revealed: "Ed did not dump Jess, I think they still love each other -- they're just taking time apart to work on themselves and their careers," a source said. "They had a flat together and remodeled and furnished it, but she is now living in her own apartment elsewhere.

They still talk, but Jess has booked a film and has been spending a lot of time away shooting recently."

Josh Duhamel & Eiza Gonzalez

To be honest we aren’t truly over Josh Duhamel and Fergie’s split which happened in 2017. This new relationship with actress Eiza Gonzalez kicked off in February and only lasted a number of months before it was reported in July that they had ended their romance.

Their work schedules were tough on the relationship," a source told the mag.

An insider told "Entertainment Tonight" that though both were legitimately busy, Eiza was more invested than Josh. "Josh truly enjoyed Eliza’s company but is ready to move on... She was willing to do whatever it took to make it last, but Josh just isn't in that place at the moment," the insider explained.

"While they did end things partially because of their work schedules, they also called it quits because they truly are on different pages and the timing just wasn't right... She was looking for a serious relationship and wanted a life partner. He wasn't at that point."

Miranda Lambert & Anderson East

When your work involves a crazy amount of travelling of course its hard to sustain a relationship and that was exactly what happened that caused Miranda Lambert and musician Anderson East to split up after two and a half years of dating.

InTouch confirmed that the two split on Feb 26th, though neither’s rep confirmed the news, one look at Instagram confirmed Anderson stopped following Miranda’s Instagram which obviously is the sign of our generation of a dead romance.

Just weeks later, both Us and In Touch learned that Miranda had moved on with another musician, Turnpike Troubadours frontman Evan Felker -- allegedly when she was still with Anderson and Evan was still married to his accountant wife.

"They are very much involved," a source told Us of Miranda and Evan, who filed for divorce a few weeks after hitting the road as one of Miranda's opening acts.

A second source said that the duo "started spending a lot more time together while on the road," adding that things just "happened" between the musicians. Evan -- who went public with Miranda in July -- finalized his divorce from wife Staci in August. Then he and Miranda split... talk about a whirlwind of emotions for everyone!

Paulina Porizkova & Ric Ocasek

There’s no better way to announce the end of a relationship then with a well-thought-out metaphor. Just ask model Paulina Porzikova who announced she was splitting up from The Cras frontman Uric Ocasek on May 2:

"Our family always has been -- and still is -- a well-built car," she began the post. "When the four of us are together, we can go wherever the road takes us. But as a bicycle, my husband and I no longer pedal in unison. So, we're ditching the bicycle."

Paulina revealed that she and Ric "have been peacefully separated for the past year" and are "no longer a couple." She emphasized that there are no bad feelings and absolutely no drama.

You enjoy the single life Kenny!

Kendall Jenner & Ben Simmons

We are still a family full of love, simply redefining our dynamics. I believe this is a necessary decision for my entire family unit." The great @michaelsheen & I consciously uncoupled over Christmas. I mean, not 'over Christmas' - like that wasn't the fight that ended it. No fight. We just live in different countries & it got hard.

Felt we should just tell y'all so u stop askin, 'How's Michael/How's Sarah?'" she tweeted on Feb. 5. Then came some unintended comedy: Her big announcement was posted, unintentionally, on the Welsh actor's 49th birthday!

Now this is one dramatic ending. On Jan 16th the long-time girlfriend of The Chainsmokers Alex Pall revealed the details of their breakup, including the fact that he is a lying, dishonest human being. It seems fame got to his head and ruined it for both of them,

Tori Woodward, who dated the Grammy winner for nearly four years, shared images on her Instagram story, reportedly taken from CCTV surveillance camera footage, that showed the music star kissing another woman.

"After hours of begging him for scraps of honesty I chipped away just enough to confirm that this is not the first time he's cheated on me," she wrote.

"That 'psycho b----' from Vegas, the 'lame Instagram model' caught on video and countless others he looked me in the eyes and swore on his life he never touched.

Consistent outright denial faded to him explaining that because all men do it it's not that bad and, in different words, that because he's famous now, he had a different rulebook for decency.

What's perhaps most amazing is that he HASN'T EVEN APOLOGIZED... What he has done is everything he possibly can to stop this from coming out, from looking the kind of person who does what he's done."

I want nothing but the best for him and will continue to support him as a friend that I have immense respect and love for. As for the future, whatever's meant to be will be."
