Inspiring triumph of will in movies in past few decades

When it comes to movies, we all have our own favorites, depending on the mood and genre we love. But there are always some directors who manage to break that barrier and make great influential work, regardless of its genre. The list of those would be very huge, so we narrowed that list by picking couple of movies that have surely inspired many people around the globe, by telling stories about will and desire. If you don't find your pick in this short list, we'll make sure that it's mentioned in the next occasion.

"Good Will Hunting" (Gus Van Sant, 1997)

Will Hunting is one of Matt Damon's toughest roles ever; the role of a young mathematical genius with a tough history behind him. Even though he's a mathematician, he has the tendency to be on the wrong side of the law and a part of street fights. This movie surely encourages a lot of people, because it shows how an everyday underachiever can turn everything around.

The most amazing scene would be the one during Will's therapy sessions, accompanied by Robin Williams, where we realize that he's slowly letting his guard down and his brilliance is going take over the things.

"The Pursuit of Happiness" (Gabriele Muccino, 2006)

This is the great real-life story about Chris Gardner who believes in the power of hard work and perseverance, and following that pattern he manages to quit the life that consisted of sleeping on the subway and becomes the millionaire founder of the brokerage house.

Even though is hard to be motivated in such situation, he finds the strength to study hard and after couple of years Gardner goes high up on the career ladder, from selling medical equipment to playing the huge role in financial world. This story is a good example proving that people should never give up, but try to fight their way through.

"Freedom Writers" (Richard LaGravenese, 2007)

As we all love true and inspirational tales, this movie tells us a story about Erin Gruwell, the teacher who must find a new way of teaching, so she could inspire her underachieving city kids to study, work hard and make their way to top academic level.

Hilary Swank, who played teacher Gruwell, does an impressive work to bring us closer to the personality of a woman full of optimism and passion. The biggest achievement of this one is the image of a complete change of lives of students, when they start understanding and supporting the teacher.

"Forrest Gump" (Robert Zemeckis, 1994)

Forrest Gump is a troubling story of triumph of will and victory over issues that stand in this man's life. This would be definitely one of the most memorable roles of Tom Hanks, who played Gump in this movie. To soften this serious though life struggle, creators try to approach it with charm which they did very successfully.

There is one important question in this movie for all of us. Do we have to be masters of our own fate or we have to follow the pre-determined path? It intends to tell us that good looks, intelligence and riches cannot always be the elements of the influence and that having a good heart can make a huge impact on us and the lives of others.
