At the 2019 Met Gala this last May, Kim Kardashian shocked nearly everybody with the dress she wore, and not because it was stunning.
The dress itself was beautifully done, but, unfortunately, the confusion of how she managed to get into it stole her thunder. Many theorized that she had ribs removed to fit into the body-hugging Thierry Mugler mini dress.
However, Kim was recently interviewed with WSJ and seemed enormously confused at the thought, responding “I don’t even know if that’s possible.”
Painful none the less
She may not have taken ribs out, but it sounds like the process was painful, nonetheless. The physical toll it took on her body was huge. “I have never felt pain like that in my life,” Kardashian confessed. “I’ll have to show you pictures of the aftermath when I took it off — the indentations on my back and my stomach.” She even had to take breathing lessons to manage it.
After the event, a behind-the-scenes Vogue video showed Kim telling those at the Gala that it was difficult to even sit down while wearing the outfit, and going to the bathroom was absolutely out of the question.
“Anna, if I don’t sit down for dinner, now you know why,” she laughed, referring to Vogue editor Anna Wintour. During Vogue’s interview, she made an attempt at sitting for the camera. “I can only like half-sit,” she said in the video.
“I won’t be able to pee for about four hours,” Kardashian later told the Vogue camera people. “So, we’re coming up with a plan of what we do in case of an emergency.”
In comparison to her husband, Kanye West’s black Dickies jacket and pants matched with his brand of Yeezy combat boots, Kardashian’s outfit was quite extravagant.
In recent days, Kim has had to deal with criticism of her new shapewear line and is working to change its name due to accusations of cultural appropriation.
