Relationships require hard work, marriages in the spotlight all the more so. While having your professional life in the spotlight has its perks, the public scrutinizing your personal life certainly takes its toll. Some deal with it better than others. Needless to say, celebrities, just like the rest of us have to deal with all the usual things which come with a relationship such as heartbreak, jealousy, fidelity, but most of all privacy.

See our list of the shortest-lived celebrity marriages and relationships in Tinseltown. From Brittney to Kim K, Taylor Swift to J Lo, let's take a look at the shortest-lived romances.

Bradley Cooper & Jennifer Esposito

It might come as a surprise to many, but former Sexiest Man Alive, Bradley Cooper was once married. The Hangover star wed fellow actress Jennifer Esposito after just four months of publicly dating, and less than three months of being engaged.

"It was just something that happened," Cooper explained in 2011. "The good thing is, we both realized it. Sometimes you just realize it. It just wasn't right. It's interesting...things happen!"

Differing Opinions

According to Esposito, however, the circumstances of their breakup weren't so mutual. She wrote in her book, "Within days, my relationship hit an all-time low, and within a week, it was over. Abruptly, rudely, and with the exact callousness that I'd come to expect from him, but this time, I did nothing but agree to end it."

Britney Spears & Jason Alexander

Oh, Britney. Our sweet, dear Britney. The Princess of Pop was having quite the bender in the early to mid-2000s, following her breakup with Justin Timberlake. One booze-filled night in Las Vegas, the former star of The Mickey Mouse Club married her childhood friend Jason Allen Alexander at A Little White Wedding Chapel.

55 Hours Of Bliss

With Spears at the peak of her career, the shock marriage made headlines the world over. It's uncertain if the virtually unknown Jason Allen Alexander enjoyed his 55 hours of fame - the same the length the marriage lasted before it was annulled after Spears petitioned the court that she "lacked understanding of her actions". As the saying goes, Vegas weddings never last.

Kim Kardashian & Kris Humphries

Looking back, we can't help but think the entire fanfare was just a charade all along. The reality television star married NBA player Kris Humphries, then of the New Jersey Nets, in August 2011, after the two began dating in October the previous year before getting engaged in May.

A month before the nuptials, she released her "wedding fragrance" titled "Kim Kardashian Love" to coincide with her wedding. A two-part TV special showcasing the preparations to the wedding itself aired on E! in October. Nobody does publicity like the Kardashians.

Doomed From The Start

Their brief marriage showed signs of fracture from the onset, as evidenced by their frequent zingers on Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Kris once quipped to her, "By the time your kids are in school no one is going to care about you anymore baby." Their marriage would last just 72 days before Kim filed for divorce.

Following the news, several news outlets, as well as the public at large, wondered if the marriage was simply a means to promote family's brand and future subsequent television ventures. Whatever it was, Kim wouldn't waste any time as she began dating rapper and friend Kanye West while still legally married to Humphries.

Jennifer Lopez & Cris Judd

Nine months. That's all it took for J-Lo and her backup dancer, Cris Judd to go from happily married in September 2001 to becoming ex-wife and ex-husband in June 2002 when she called it quits due to irreconcilable differences.

Love Does Cost A Thing

The two ex-spouses first met when Judd was hired to direct Lopez's music video for "Love Don't Cost a Thing". While they were married Judd also composed the song "Alive" for Lopez's movie Enough. It seems life imitated art.

Demi Lovato & Trace Cyrus

The lesser-known Cyrus, Trace Cyrus, brother of Miley Cyrus, and Demi Lovato dated once upon a time. The two musicians reportedly were together for a total of one month during the former Disney princess's early career.

Time Told

Being together for such a brief moment meant the two harbor no ill feelings from the relationship. Trace discussed the breakup saying, "Unfortunately, we both have very busy schedules – we’re both on tour right now. I’m always on the other side of the world and so is she, so it just seemed like something that can’t work out at this time.”

Sophia Richie & Justin Bieber

One is now dating the ex of a Kardashian, while the other is dating the daughter of a Baldwin. Sophia Richie, current belle of Scott Disick, and the recently engaged Justin Bieber were once an item with their matching baby faces caught together for one month.

Instagram Hints

Considering they were seen together for about one month, neither publicly announced the relationship, despite each appearing in the other's Instagram posts. After about a month, they both disappeared from each other's lives as they were no longer seen together.

Taylor Swift & Tom Hiddleston

Taylor Swift, from downhill relationships to musical chart-toppers, America's self-perceived sweetheart has dated her fair share of celebrities. During their three-month relationship, singer Swift and English actor Tom Hiddleston were nicknamed "Hiddleswift" by the media.

The Taylor Show

Stylist to the celebs, Phillip Bloch broke down what derailed their relationship, "There was too much pressure, including from Taylor's fans who didn't take to it. It wasn't a normal relationship. Tom's a guy on the up and it was a good look for him, and the people around him were happy for it to happen, but there was no doubt about it, he was in the Taylor show."

Taylor Swift & Taylor Lautner

Taylor and Taylor. It seemed like it was written in the stars. Both were up and coming in stars - one an actor, the other a singer. The two even played an onscreen couple in the film Valentine's Day where they first hit it off. Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner seemed destined to end up together.

Better As Friends

Carmen Electra & Dennis Rodman

In 1998, the Baywatch starlet met NBA player Dennis Rodman at Los Angeles' Billboard Live nightclub. The two immediately had chemistry as they dated for just eight months before saying "I do" in Las Vegas.

Nine Day Marriage

The nuptials lasted just 9 days. Yes, 9 days. Rodman filed for annulment, claiming he was of "unsound mind" when the pair wed, while Electra admitted "It's easy to get caught up in a moment. You think it's romantic, but then you realize, 'God, we did it in Vegas?' It's like getting a cheeseburger at a fast-food restaurant."

Vanessa Hudgens & Josh Hutcherson

High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens, and actor Josh Hutcherson had a short but sweet three-month romance before the actor was dumped by the brunette. The two began dating while filming Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.

Not Too Happy About It

It looks like Hutcherson was taken back by the breakup as he later disclosed, “I think getting broken up with is worse than breaking up with somebody. I was blind at first by looks, by love, whatever. I’ve been known to fall hard and quick for girls, which I think is better than not falling at all.”

Kristen Stewart & Soko

It seems like yesterday Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson were the talk of the town. Since the two broke up due to Kristen's infidelity, Steward has dated several men and women, including French singer Stephanie "Soko" Sokolinski whom she dated for a few months.

Moody Breakup

The two were photographed cuddling and holding hands in public throughout their relationship. Despite Stewart breaking up with Soko after a short three months of dating, she was soon after spotted looking downcast. Perhaps, it was just her resting face.

Mario Lopez & Ali Landry

Former Saved by the Bell star and current television host Mario Lopez and model Ali Laundry may hold the record for the shortest Hollywood wedding. It lasted a fortnight, at which point the two annulled their marriage, however, it was for good reason.

Cheating Days Before The Wedding

In a 2011 interview, Lopez admitted that the two split after Laundry discovered Lopez had been unfaithful to her days before the wedding at his bachelor party. He disclosed of the incident, "It was spring break….everybody was hanging out. That was a situation where I was not mature and man enough."

Nicky Hilton & Todd Meister

The Hilton hotel heiress married childhood friend and businessman Todd Meister at the Vegas Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas on August 15, 2004. What did we say about Vegas weddings?

At 2:30 a.m. on August 15, 2004, Hilton married childhood friend and businessman Todd Meister at the Vegas Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada. The marriage was annulled less than three months later, with Hilton and Meister explaining they traveled apart often and had married "on a whim".

Three-Month Marriage

Elisabeth Moss & Fred Armisen

The Handmaid's Tale star, Elisabeth Moss, was once tied to a partner named Fred, just like her on-screen character. Moss was married to former Saturday Night Live star Fred Armisen in 2009.

Not Of Fred Any Longer

After just eight months of marriage, the couple separated, with Moss filing for divorce three months later. Moss later elaborated on the breakdown of her marriage saying, "Looking back, I feel like I was really young, and at the time I didn't think that I was that young," she said. "It was extremely traumatic and awful and horrible."

Elizabeth Taylor & Conrad “Nicky” Hilton

Legendary Hollywood actress Elizabeth Taylor married her first of seven husbands in 1950 when she was 18 years old. However, the marriage would even last until her next birthday as she filed for divorce soon after. The marriage lasted 205 days in total.

Honeymoon Over

In the weeks following the wedding, Taylor realized she had made a mistake. Not only did she find the two had few interests in common, but Hilton was also a heavy drinker and abusive. In her 1965 memoir, she admitted, "The honeymoon in Europe lasted two weeks. I should say the marriage lasted for two weeks. Then came, yours sincerely, disillusionment rude and brutal."

Chad Michael Murray & Sophia Bush

One Tree Hill co-stars and onscreen lovers, Chad Michael Murray and Sophia Bush married in April 2005 in Santa Monica California. However, they separated just five months later with Bush even requesting an annulment citing fraud which was denied. As a result, the two had to wait months before the divorce became official.

Interesting Workplace

The most awkward part of this episode is that the two had no choice but to continue seeing each other on the set of the show. Perhaps this was a reason why the two characters broke up. In 2014, Bush speaking in an interview regarding her marriage to Murray, stated, "We were two stupid kids who had no business being in a relationship in the first place."

Taylor Swift & Harry Styles

This relationship went by as fast as Taylor's surname. When One Direction boy band member dated Taylor Swift in 2012, it sent tongues wagging from London to Tennessee. Needless to say, many teenage girls were envious of the "I Knew You Were Trouble" singer.

Music Inspiration

Even though the relationship barely lasted two months, it was enough to inspire Taylor to write songs such as "Style" (could she be more obvious), and "Red" which is widely believed to be about the Brit.

Scarlett Johansson & Sean Penn

Actor Sean Penn and actress Scarlett Johansson dated for at most four months but made a string of public appearances together in this time. The whirlwind romance in the spring of 2011 sent tongues wagging least of all due to their 24-year age difference.

Short And Steamy

By the time the two split in June 2011, they had already vacationed together in Cabo San Lucas in Mexico and showed up to Reese Witherspoon's wedding as a couple. They also attended the White House Correspondents dinner, following which they were spotted getting cozy at the after-party. We can only speculate as to why they ended things.

Kaley Cuoco & Henry Cavill

One is a Hollywood leading man and action star, the other is a sitcom stable starring in a cult-classic. Henry Cavill and Kaley Cuoco's relationship seemed like it was over before it began, so short was their fling.

Ten Days Of PDA

The former couple was an item for all of 10 days from June to July 2013. The relationship fizzled as quickly as it started, and some wonder if the entire thing was staged for publicity as the two are rumored to share a publicist. Whatever it was, Cuoco went on as an underrated small screen actress, while Cavill brought more publicity to his Man of Steel flick.

Drew Barrymore & Tom Green

Actress Drew Barrymore has been in the spotlight since E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial came out in 1982 when she was aged 7. As such, she has been in the limelight for a long time. By the time she married comedian Tom Green aged 26, it was already her second marriage. During their marriage they in Charlie's Angels and Green's directorial film debut Freddy Got Fingered.

No Longer Talking

The marriage lasted just of 163 days before Green filed for divorce. Green stated in 2010 that he had not seen Barrymore since the divorce, although the two are on good terms since the actress speaks highly of him. In a 2014 interview with Oprah, he said, "I haven't talked to her in many, many years. I'm glad she's doing great. I'm really happy that she's doing good."

Gigi Hadid & Joe Jonas

Long Distance, Short Romance

However, the Victoria's Secret Model, and former Jonas Brothers lead singer subsequently broke up in November of 2015. With Gigi's frequent travels due to her modeling career and Joe focused on his music, the distance proved too much, as the two split amicably.

Weird Demands
