Watch: World Record Hand-skating!

The good people who we share this world with are capable of truly horrible things. For every act of barbarity that we see which reminds us we’re no better than or predecessors, though, we get to see someone proving the amazing limits we can take our bodies to. Take Mirko Hanßen of Germany.

He managed to enter the Guinness World Books of Records by achieving a whopping 50m worth of hand skating in a mere 8.55 seconds!

Caught in the act in Bocholt, Germany, on 17th November 2017, Hanßen used a K2 Mach 100 set of skates to achieve the amazing feat. Working with the city as well as family and friends, he set up two light sensors to work as the start and end point. He also used the classic stopwatch and tape measure, of course. Appearing in the 2019 edition of the GWBOR, Hanßen said: “After I was part of some TV shows I want to make the next step and be part of the famous Guinness World Records book.

“With a lot of tough training, I learned more and more, for example, to skate on one hand and to jump over a ramp.”

With immense physicality needed to pull off such a feat, it’s no surprise that this is a record which has taken a long time to match. For Mirko, the immense physical requirements needed to get the job done would be hard to fathom.

Thanks to his dedication to his craft and his ability to train on his balance quality, though, Mirko has made sure that he stands out for all of the right reasons. This amazing feat might take some time before someone even gets close to beating it – 50m in just 8.55 seconds, amazing!

This will likely be one of the headline records for 2019, so be sure to take a quick watch at the video and see for yourself why so many people love to take on this kind of daring experiment. Scary? Almost certainly. Worth it? Just look how happy Mirko looks, and that should answer your question!

Student Finds World Class Car in Grandmothers Garage

When living the life of a student, you need to find money – and fast. Money is hard to come by in the hours after studying, but you’ve gotta pay for the weekend somehow, right? That’s why cleaning out at your grandparents is always a decent way to get money for a few beers. However, it’s not often that when you go along to help out with your grandmother that you find something of genuine value during cleaning.

From an old vinyl to some wartime memorabilia, you might something cool. At best, you might help make a few bucks for your grandparents – and they might help you in on the reward. However, how often do you walk into the garage of a grandmother and find an untouched Lamborghini!?

That’s what happened to Eriegin, who took on the task of cleaning out her grandmother’ garage. Her grandfather had sadly passed on, and cleaning out a garage with the best part of 20 years of clutter was going to be a challenging starting point. However, she did have an inkling that they might find some good value to put light on what is obviously a tragic circumstance. What she did find, though, was quite different to what anyone might have expected.

Finding the time to do something special

While we described at the top that many students help out for money, it’s clear that Eriegin was doing this to be kind. Her grandfather had passed on, leaving her grandmother in need of a lot of help. Reading over documents and looking at the financial situation of her grandparents made her feel worried: without a material change in circumstance, her grandmother might not be able to stay at home forever.

So, she got to work, hoping to both help get the place tidied up and hoping to find something that would be worth a few bucks. Pulling back a big section of tarp, she stood, amazed, at what was at in front of her – a fresh, untouched Lamborghini.

This was among the rarest cars on the planet, too – a 1982 LP500S Lamborghini Countach!

Undriven, in good (though by no means perfect) condition and also totally ready to be sold on, this was a tremendous find. And better yet? There was a Ferrari 308 next to it!

Instead of selling these rare cars back in the day, it was clear that her grandfather had held on to them with good reason. In a flash, their financial fears were put away into the distance, with offers made on both vehicles despite their condition issues.

While in perfect condition they could probably make you close to a millionaire, these amazing strokes of luck turned the tragedy of loss and the worry of financial deprivation into a feel-good story that, at the very last, had a happy ending after the loss of what was clearly a very intelligent, caring man.

Incredible Star Wars Inspired Robot Up And Running

While the concept of building robotic platforms might be the thought process of evil masterminds, such technology is an exciting prospect. One man appears to have taken his sci-fi childhood inspirations to the next level, however. Hampshire-based Matt Denton has put together an absolutely incredible 2-tonne robot that has been awarded the Guinness World Book of Records award for “Largest Rideable Hexapod Robot” – while we aren’t sure on what competition may exist, it’s still a damn impressive accolade.

An incredible 9ft 2” by 16ft 4”, this incredible beast is easily one of the most enjoyable pieces of mechanical innovation we’ve seen for some time. It was apparently inspired by the famous AT-AT robot of Star Wars fame, especially from the Hoth battle in The Empire Strikes Back. This unique animatronics creation is instantly one of the coolest things we’ve seen, though it does strike a momentary realization that this is perhaps just a touch too similar to Doctor Octopus of Spider-Man fame.

Denton, then, makes the Guinness World Book of Records for 2019, with this incredible robot coming to life after a long-term construction process. Running access on its own HexEngine software, ‘Mantis’ is capable of moving at the comical speed of 0.6mph. That’s not too bad, though: the concept of one of these things being faster than a man is just not worth thinking about at present!

A technological marvel

Looking at the Mantis, it’s pretty damn hard not to be wowed by the work that has gone into its creation. The building of it began in 2009, close to a decade ago. With similar machines in the past built by Denton, albeit much smaller, he laid out the groundwork for what would be needed.

Working alongside Jason Lee, who worked on the Harry Potter films they managed to turn one of his old hexapods into a robot turtle …. With six legs.

By gaining the investment needed to get into building his hexapod for use underwater, Denton got to work. A 1.9 tonne version was built, with the aim being to try and get a similar understanding of the problems that would come with the eventual 200-tonne edition that was requested.

This version, Mark II, is just the first improvement after the chall

enging first Mark. Mentioning that he had “to become an expert in many areas!”, Denton spent much of his time reading up on what he needed to know to eventually make this work as he had intended

A childhood lover of machine creation, Matt said: “When I got to the age of 13, I was always taking them apart and rebuilding the and making Frankenstein toys out of two things, trying to make them faster or better or bigger!”

Working at places like Space Precinct, the TV show, and also at Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, Matt was able to make some huge career moves: including being involved in the creation of Star Wars: The Force Awakens!

This amazing story is just getting started, but we’re sure that we’ll hear a lot more about Matt Henson and the Mantis as the years and decades go by. Keep him in mind though: he could be one of the great minds of his generation!

Watch: Alligator Gets a Prosthetic Tail

This is the story of Mr. Stubbs, an alligator without a tail. If you know a little about these reptiles, you will agree that they cannot swim without their tails. Mr. Stubbs the alligator had been ‘grounded’ for so long until a special prosthetic was invented for him.

This smart invention was made by a group of technicians and animal lovers. Without a tail, it was going to be difficult for Mr. Stubbs to survive all by himself.

It is not certain how Mr. Stubbs lost his tail, but the story is most likely horrific. He was among some alligators rescued from animal smugglers in Arizona. Mr. Stubbs was kept in a private facility for observation and care when his disability was discovered.

It is a miracle he survived. Mr. Stubbs has been treated; there is no threat because of the injury from his missing tail. However, without the tail, releasing him into the wild could be a ‘death sentence.’ Thanks to 3D printing technology, a prosthetic was created.

It was quite a challenge to find a suitable tail for Mr. Stubbs. The issues ranged from the usage, and how well the prosthetic fit. Alligators use their tails in many ways; this meant that the prosthetic had to be firmly secured in place. The technicians at the Phoenix Herpetological Society didn’t give up easily. After a series of trials, the right prosthetic was created.

A 3D printer was used to develop a personalised tail. The focus was on creating a tail that matched Mr. Stubbs structure. It was important to get the right fitting because an alligator’s tail is as important as its legs.

After a series of trials, it was confirmed that the prosthetic was going to work and last longer. This is great news for Mr. Stubbs. Regardless of how well he is cared for at the center, he belongs in the wild. The successful creation of the prosthetic meant he has another chance to live a normal life in his natural habitat. However, there will still be more tests.

So far, these are the accomplishments. Mr. Stubbs has been able to use his new tail to swim in water. It is now easier for him to move around with the use of the prosthetic. This also means he can hunt for food successfully in the wild.

The inventors of the prosthetic have posted videos of Mr. Stubbs testing his new tail in the water. The comments on these videos are hilarious, but generally, everyone is happy that this alligator was saved and is getting the best assistance.

Finnish Singing Taxi Service Makes Waves

Do you ever get into a taxi, feeling glad for the ride home, only to find out you have no money left?

Well, this can be awkward. You can either pay up the driver with a credit card in some cases, you can get money from your home or you could go to a bank machine. If none of these options are available, you can always get taken to the police station, right?

Well, thankfully, for the people of Finland, a new option exists: Sing!

With a new taxi shuttle service in Finland, you can pay off your cab ride by belting out a banger for the driver. Fortum Singalong Shuttle is a major and comical new summer service that is going to be up and running for most of the summer. it’s mostly aimed at getting people to the popular Ruisrock Festival, which is being held at present. This amazing service combines together the concept of pooling to get to the festival simply by paying for the ride with their voice.

These emission-free electric cars will be going around without causing any environmental harm. With a tablet installed into each car, you can choose the song that you wish to sing and then go for it. However, if you stop singing, then the ride will grind to a halt and you need to start singing again to keep it going!

This unique design by Fortum is supposed to help get customers more engaged with the ride and to help them see that a cleaner world is both possible and affordable. According to brand manager Jussi Malkia, this is a major step forward for transport, saying: ‘‘With Singalong Shuttle we want to show people in a joyful way how comfortable and easy it is to drive an electric car. The silent electric cars make it possible to enjoy singing without background noise and emissions’’

As one of the biggest names in the region, Fortum has quickly become a worldwide name thanks to this hilarious new trick that they have come up with. The aim is to try and get people to and from the festival without much issue. While those like myself who despise James Corden’ Carpool Karaoke might not like the reason for this existing, we can applaud the hearty message behind the campaign for sure!

Despite all of our knowledge, progress and modern technology, oceans continue to be the mysterious and enigmatic traps with some very real dangers hidden in their bellies. And when we talk about the amount of water and scary we mean ocean storms! Something that will always remain scary no matter how much technology will develop or how big ships will be built.

This video is so amazing you will probably think is a scene from a movie! But, actually is not! While crossing the Atlantic on the container ship Oleander, the crew manages to film a spectacular storm off Bermuda. We told you that it looks like a scene from a movie!

Waves come in all shapes and sizes—from small ones calmly lapping on the shore to large rogue waves out at sea. Storms interact with the ocean on the surface, from hurricanes to tsunamis. These waves are really big and scary!

Watch: You’ve Never Seen A Mig29 Takeoff From This Angle

Technology has always been a uniquely enjoyable thing. It’s something that has allowed us to see some truly special moments in the world, and capture some of the greatest achievements known to man. If you are a fan of fighter jets, then this video of an afterburner camera is a must-see. You get a front seat view to a fighter jet taking off, creating an absolutely sensational point of view for you to enjoy.

Mounted on the back of the Mig 29K, this take-off lets you see what it actually looks like. The jet took off from a Russian aircraft carrier.

It looks amazing, right? Look at that wonderful explosion of energy roaring into life. We always figured it would take something special to move a MiG, but this shows you just how incredible these pieces of kit are.

Extra fuel is thrown into the jet pipe downstream, making sure that the burning is rapidly increased as the expense of massive fuel consumption and efficiency, making it useful for short bursts in emergency situations.

This awesome video, then, shows you the unique power of the fighter jet – and why they can blow away even the fastest and most modern of civilian crafts.

The Striped Shirt That Has the World Going Crazy

Do any of you remember back in 2015 when there was an illusional dress that was surfacing the internet, driving all of us insane guessing what color it was? Some thought gold, and others thought navy blue, but either way, we all lost our marbles trying to figure it out. The dress was so popular that it even became a character on the hit game, Crossy Road, and we all were left wondering how this had happened. The theme behind the dress was an illusion on the eyes, and this young ladie’s selfie has us feeling the same as we did way back when.

The selfie starts off with the view of a beautiful girl, and a gorgeous striped shirt, simply looking like herself. It then follows with a few more selfies as the focus comes more to the shirt, and the illusion continues.

girlstripedshirt

As you look into the shirt, the stripes turn into a trippy, headache yielding set of stripes. If you remember from the original tweet above, the shirt started off innocent looking, like a simple shirt from Forever 21. As we zoom into the shirt even more, we come to see that the illusion continues, even as the shirt goes back to its normal state.

With this occurence, people began to go crazy and start fearing that the end of the world was near. Tweeters even went as far and wild as to think Satan was here on Earth. Talk about overdramatic.

At least one user had some common sense, and actually took to her twitter to say something ten times more than hilarious.

That has to be one of the more funny reactions that we have seen yet regarding this illusional phenomena. For anyone with a brain, we can see that this shirt is clearly designed by an intelligent designer who wanted to use optical illusions as a fashion. Gotta hand it to whoever it was, whether or not they intended to start a fire on twitter, they truly succeeded. What a great way to start off 2017; drive the public wild with what seems to be magic in the thread!

Funny & cool vandalism?

We all know that vandalism is dangerous, mostly illegal and wrong. But sometimes we come across some very funny and cool looking acts of vandalism on the street. When it’s done smartly and well placed, it often makes us laugh and even approve it.  Actually there are people who would say – “Wow, you definitely made my day.” and they are happy to share these art, or vandalism, (call it what you want) with other people, so let’s see some of the most interesting vandalism photos that we picked for you…

One of the most common vandalism acts can be seen on traffic signs. People change the whole meaning of the sign by adding some extra words to it or removing some letters from the sentence. Sometimes, if possible, the images and photos of celebrities are added to traffic signs, changing the context totally.

These “artists” also help us see the image of the signs differently. If those objects on the sign look like something else, they’ll make sure that we also see it. The result can be totally hilarious, it just makes you feel better!

Most of you know good what British youngsters think of the whole CCTV story, that it’s invasion of their privacy, ruining someone’s business and not actually tackling crime! Some of them even managed to make a graffiti jokes and sticker some signs for high security cameras placed on buildings across the England and other U.K. countries.

Most of this bizarre art can be also seen in public toilets and elevators, on train stations, bus stations, or other public areas. It’s usually written on the wall, added to some already existed sign, or a printed image that changes the context of some sign or object totally. Vending machines, billboards and toilets, are also the victims of this freedom of expression. Al Pacino selling coke in vending machine did make us laugh loudly…

Probably the most interesting kind of vandalism is adding the 3d objects to traffic signs making them the center of attention even if they’re mostly placed by highways and other roads. There are also examples of these in various construction sites in urban areas. People see something in pieces of concrete and wire, so it quickly becomes the whole image and sometimes the real piece of art.

According to Wikipedia:” Vandalism is action involving deliberate destruction of or damage to public or private propert. The term includes criminal damage such as graffiti and defacement directed towards any property without permission of the owner. The term finds its roots in an Enlightenment view that the Germanic Vandals were a uniquely destructive people”

But is it really that way?

Imagine yourself returning home from work tired, nervous and you accidentally notice some of these works of art, you immediately get in the mood, maybe get inspired to do something like this, to share some of your funny thoughts with other people, to make someone laugh…

The question is – “Why do we approve vandalism which is funny?”

We all know that vandalism is dangerous, mostly illegal and wrong. But sometimes we come across some very funny and cool looking acts of vandalism on the street. When it’s done smartly and well placed, it often makes us laugh and even approve it...
