Netflix Genres Boring You? Open Them Up Today

Netflix is, easily, one of the most popular online platforms used today. Millions of users curl up in front of their TV to watch their on-demand shows, when they want. While some of us complain that Netflix has too much choice, some people find it hard to choose. For example, their genre selections are, at best, poor. You can find it hard to really dig into what you wish to watch, which soon becomes an exercise in frustration.

To solve that problem, we recommend that you take a look at this easy to use Netflix genre cracker. This opens up thousands of new genres to look through when searching for movies. If you are sick of the same old genres giving you eyebrow raising returns, you can use this simple solution to open up the floor to some far more interesting movie choices.

Making the most of Netflix

To start off with, thanks to What’s On Netflix for coming across this awesome little trick. You will need to use a variety of specific codes to open up Netflix much more, giving you much more control over what you watch.

For example, if you wanted to find something very particular, you can. Mad genres appear, like “Bellydancing” and even “Campy Chinese Movies” – they have a little hidden sub-category for any kind of movie that you can think of. To make this work, all you need to do is type in the following URL:

https://www.netflix.com/browse/genre/XXXX

All you need to do is swap out XXXX for the genre you wish to browse through, and voila. You can find all of the codes that you need online, making it easy to tap into over 70,000 hidden sub-genres. It’s very interesting, and makes it easy for you to make your Netflix experience a touch more specific.

Many of us spend hours just flicking through Netflix hoping to find something decent. With this, you make more or less certain that you can find something worth watching. However, opening up the floor so much will mean potentially making it even harder to choose. If you struggle to make a choice with the options already on Netflix, make sure you have a rough idea of the genre that you wish to watch.

Decision making falls through the floor when we have too many options, so try and limit in your mind the kind of movie youwish to watch. Then, start your browser search. If you go on with so many new options to pick from, you will likely just make what is already a hard choice even harder than it needs to be!

The Top Halloween Songs to Play This Year

When it comes to enjoying ourselves with the world of spooky Halloween, one of the best mediums we have to do so is with music. The music industry has long been loaded with awesome Halloween-themed music and songs over the years. If you spend some time looking around at popular Halloween music, then you might get in that frightful mood without missing a beat.

So, what are some of the best Halloween songs to look out for this year?

Superstition

Start off your playlist with the upbeat Stevie Wonder classic. Halloween is all about superstition and folk tales, and what better way to make that shine through than with the help of this awesome track? A must-use for anyone who wants to add that supernatural charm to their playlist without having to go down a screamer-style music playlist.

Ghostbusters

An obvious one for fans of the movie, if you want to get everyone up dancing and having a good time then the Ghostbusters theme by Ray Parker Jr. is just what you need. It was hot as hell back on release in 1984, and this is still an absolute banger to this day: 100% a must-have with any good Halloween playlist.

Highway to Hell

The AC/DC classic is a definite one to add to your Halloween play-list this year. It was first released in the late 1970s, and was a major hit for them for obvious reasons. A very engaging song with plenty of opportunities for you to rock alongside the Aussie band, this is definitely one to add to the list when you want to go wild this Halloween.

Thriller

An obvious one, the Michael Jackson classic has to be part of any good Halloween themed music playlist. Get this one on, and you can get the entire crowd up dancing along with it. Everyone over the age of 15 will know the moves, so get everyone dancing along to this awesome Halloween classic – a fine choice for anyone wanting to put together a playlist that really makes the right impression.

Don’t Fear the Reaper

A fine choice of a Halloween song, this tune by the Blue Oyster Cult was a hit since it first appeared in the mid-70s. A classic for many reasons, it’s a good song that you should definitely look to add to the playlist. It might not sound like the scariest song, but a quick listen to the lyrics will quickly confirm that this is more than a mid-tempo classic that sounds good to relax to: it’s got ample fear in those lyrics.

Deal With The Devil

We have a lot of classics in this list so here’s a recent entry to the list — Pop Evil’s chugging, hard rock single “Deal With the Devil.” Coming from the band’s 2013 set Onyx, it topped Mainstream Rock Songs and peaked at No. 20 in Rock Airplay.

Monster Mash

Get everyone up doing the monster mash with the help of this awesome tune by Bobby Pickett & the Crypt-Kickers. A must-have for any good playlist, it’s got all themes that you need to make a good Halloween tune; it’s slapstick, its catchy and it comes with some rather tremendous dance moves to move along to!

With this in mind, then, you should be able to put together the most spectacular and spooky Halloween music playlist this year!

Musical Playlists Built on Your DNA

While it might all sound a little too “Humans of Late Capitalism” for some, it appears DNA-driven musical playlists could be a thing. The streaming era has brought a huge amount of pros, as well as a fair amount of cons depending on your viewpoint and position within the industry.

Regardless, musical playlists have evolved to be far more personal. Rather than just a combination of different songs you think to add, apps like Spotify make it much easier to find music without having to go too far searching. Now, though, DNA playlists could be a thing.

Teaming up with Ancestry, Spotify is going to be bringing us DNA-curated playlists. If you have ever used an Ancestry DNA test at home, then you will be able to link-up to your Spotify account and curate away. You’ll be given a host of playlists to pick from that is literally built on your own DNA – taking music that is important and popular in the homeland of your very ancestors.

Although the prospect of this might sound a bit off to some, it’s definitely an interesting idea if nothing else. However, the idea that it comes from is pretty decent. According to Vineet Mehra, the Ancestry Executive Vice Preisdent and Chief Marketing Officer, speaking as part of the Spotify promotion via Quartz: “It’s so much more than the stats and the data and the records,

“How do we help people experience their culture and not just read about it? Music seemed like an obvious way to do that.”

Hitting the right note

Given music’s appeal to nostalgia and memory, it’s a nice touch to see we can now actively find music linked to the past of our very families. While it might all seem a touch gimmicky, it’s an idea that very much comes from the right place.

Ancestry has been working with Spotify to help make this a reality, with the aim to help people better connect to their heritage. It’s a smooth idea and one that obviously comes from a good place.

Of course, you don’t need to get involved with this if you don’t want to. Should you already have a Spotify account, you have no need to get an Ancestry account to continue access. If you already have an Ancestry account set up, though, it’s well worth looking a touch closer at. It’ll provide you with a rather interesting service that certainly shows Spotify is thinking well outside the box for a music streaming service.

Netflix Announce ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Live-Action Series

A live-action series based on Nickelodeon’s beloved cartoon Avatar: The Last Airbender is in development at Netflix, the streaming service announced.

After the favorite anime-inspired series hit theaters in a live-action flop, it seems Netflix will try to work its magic on the epic series. According to the company’s See What’s Next account on Twitter, the streaming service is working on a “reimagined” take on Aang’s story.

Co-creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko will return to oversee the live-action series. The pair said in a statement:

“We’re thrilled for the opportunity to helm this live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender,” the pair said in a press release. “We can’t wait to realize Aang’s world as cinematically as we always imagined it to be, and with a culturally appropriate, non-whitewashed cast. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance to build upon everyone’s great work on the original animated series and go even deeper into the characters, story, action, and world-building.”

While production won’t begin until 2019, for now, we’ve got some concept art that depicts the protagonist with Appa, the six-legged flying bison who Aang and his friends ride as they travel around the world on their quest.

Is Avengers: Infinity War All CGI? Take A Look

In the modern world of cinema, we’re able to produce things that simply would have seemed impossible. For example, you take a look at old-school movies like Clash of the Titans, and it’s barely believable that a director thought it looked anything other than amateur. Compare it with the more modern remake, and it’s safe to say that special effects can make up for a lack of just about anything on-set.

Well, one thing we can say for sure with the Avengers movie series has been that special effects play a critical role in making it look passable. Some recent shots came out from the Avengers movie sets recently, showing you the reality of how parts are shot. For example, the amazing scenes set on Wakanda don’t take place on anything other than a green screen.

While everyone knows that, it’s interesting to see the actual before/after shots that details just how much these kind of movies rely upon CGI to succeed. Many scenes in Infinity War – and others – are mostly built with the Green Screen. According to expert Oliver Schulz, who worked on the movie: “I was still wrapping on their other production Black Panther when I began on this show. Having worked on several Marvel shows prior, it gave a sense coming onto this one that I was seeing old friends again,”

For example, on the trip to Nidavellir, Thor, Rocket Raccoon and Groot all find themselves on a space station that is put together by Method Studios. According to Greg Steele, the VFX Supervisor: “The challenges revolved around building an environment that could be easily animated or posed per shot, having enough detail that we could be a foot from the ring surface and also pull out and across long distances and still retain the sense of scale and detail necessary, and in the end be efficient enough to render in many shots,”

Dust in the wind

Arguably the hardest part for shooting probably came from when the heroes all begin to turn to dust. While they are all quite hard to watch and see, the quality of the work that is put in Weta Digital to make it come to life, according to VFX Supervisor Matt Aiken, was quite exceptional, saying: “We had to make sure that it worked really, really well, because it was so drawn out, and so it had to withhold very high levels of scrutiny because we were holding right on Spidey’s face over Tony’s shoulder, through that.”

It just goes to show the immense amount of attention to detail and effort that is needed to pull off these kinds of shots. It takes precision and effort, but it also goes to show that for all the quality of the acting, writing and directing on films like this, it comes down to how good the art team are.

If you can make some of the scenes in this movie look as good as they do, then it’s safe to say that the art team make the move what it truly us. From making the big bad in Thanos look good to ensuring that Wakanda shows off its resplendent best, the work needed to make it all come together is a feat of tremendous detail in itself.

4 Netflix Originals You Will Probably Binge In 2019

For some time now, it’s been easy to see Netflix as one of the most exciting names in the entertainment industry. Forever producing amazing new content from their own studio, Netflix has far moved on from being a depository to watch on-demand TV as and when you wish. With a studio cranking out some truly tremendous content for 2019 and beyond, what can we expect from Netflix in the near future?

Central Park 5

This will especially be interesting to those of a political mindset. It’s built around the story of the Central Park Five; all sentenced to years in jail for attempted murder. Exonerated following confession, this TV series – directed by Ava DuVernay – is putting together a tremendous looking drama that shines a light on the sordid story that took place here.

This four-episode series is well worth looking out for, especially thanks to a certain someone’ proclamations about the case.

The Last Dance

Another interesting TV series about to come to Netflix is based around basketball star Michael Jordan. It’s going to focus on the basketball legend, who became a legend of competitive sport with his performances for the Chicago Bulls back in the day.

It’s going to be taken on by the excellent Jason Hehir, so we can expect that this will be able to make a positive story come to life. Jordan is easily one of the most influential sportsmen of the modern era, and is a wonderful example of what can be achieved.

Jinn

Cashing in on the substantial love for the supernatural at the moment, 2019’ Jinn is going to really tap into that in the right way. It’s six episodes long, and is going to focus on a group of teenagers who want to try and stop the spirit, Jinn, from being able to wipe out the planet.

It sounds very interesting, and with Mir-Jean Bou Chaaya behind it, it’s likely to be very fun for all of those looking to see what it has to bring to the table. Definitely worth your time if you are looking for a new supernatural show to enjoy.

The Umbrella Academy

Set in the world made up by My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way, The Umbrella Academy is another comic book adaption turned ‘real’. It’s based around an America where JFK is never gunned down, and it’s going to star some pretty big names in it like Ellen Page and Mary J. Blige. It’s sure to be exciting and if you ever spent any time reading the comic book series then you’ll realise just why there is so much excitement around this at the moment.

It’s going to be arriving in 2019, and is written and produced by Steve Blackman. Definitely one to keep an eye out for.

So, what are you most excited by? With so many interesting stories set to be on their way to Netflix, what will you be looking to add to the list of shows that you presently watch?

Google Launches New Celebrity Video App

With the world being ever-more interested in celebrity lifestyles and living, it’s no surprise to see Google acting accordingly. As one of the most powerful tech firms on the planet, Google have a unique habit of getting there before everyone else: and with their new video app, that might just about to be a trend that continues along. Thanks to Cameos, the new app from Goole, celebrities are going to find it easier than ever to funnel their own search results.

Now, celebrities can record a full-screen video answer and upload it to answer key questions about themselves found online. With commonly asked questions to Google filtered to them, they can record a quick message to deliver a personal take on what they answer would be.

Eagle-eyed Reddit users will see that this is essentially a chance to turn the Ask Me Anything (AMA) system into a video format, but fair play to them. Celebrities can now record answers to questions about them easily, ensuring that they can fight back against backlashes of misinformation, rumour and other assorted garbage.

While critics say it’s merely going to give celebrities a chance to sugar-coat questions about themselves or their deeds, fans say it’s nice to give them this kind of platform. Celebrities are often lampooned in various ways, and to have a chance to fight back against the gossip will be quite useful.

Something New For Celebrities

Interestingly, this app is going to become pretty popular purely because it’s been in the works for some time. Whatever faults can be levelled at Google; they have a pretty strong record of making a success of things they trial out in the long-term.

With the aim of trying to make mobile searches in particular even more personal – and personable – as well as with a verified, heard-it-here-first approach to celebrity news, celebrities should be able to take care of their own lives a bit easier.

Being able to have minor control about the veracity of what is being said about them online must be very fun indeed. With the ability to out-rank the algorithmic planning of Google by giving people an answer from the celeb themselves, this is going to help make sure that popular questions and queries regarding their lives can be answered by the celebrities themselves.

While some might roll their eyes at yet another new celebrity-specific feature, it’s nice to see that those who we spend so much time talking about can finally give some kind of response.

Fortnite Skips Google Play Store, Sparking Fears

As one of the most regularly played games on PC and on consoles, Fortnite has risen to fame like few games before it. Taking the mantel alongside and sometimes ahead of the likes of Player Unknowns Battlegrounds, Fortnite has managed to fuse together some very popular gaming styles to create one truly exceptional experience. However, with Fortnite now coming to mobile devices – and playing very well – it’s interesting to note that it will skip out the Google Play Store entirely.

The developers of the game, Epic Games, has announced that it will not be on the Google Play Store. instead, it will be available for download on the official Fortnite website upon release. Given the fact that Google has long been the dominant place for Android apps, this news has obviously sparked some concerns.

One of the main reasons for avoiding the upload of Fortnite to the Play Store is the avoidance of a 30% distribution fee. According to Tim Sweeney, the CEO of Epic, the fee would be “disproportionate” with regards to the needs for payment processing, bandwidth usage, and customer service planning.

Indeed, this could be the start of an avalanche of other platforms deciding to skip the marketing that the Play Store offers and instead go direct. While the exposure that one gets from the store is amazing, it’s easy to see why companies want to keep that hard-earned for themselves. With Fortnite now exceeding the $1bn mark in terms of revenue, it’s easy to see why they want to keep that cut for themselves.

Visibility VS Cost

While most users will likely check out the Play Store first, meaning some will miss out on Fortnite, this is a risk that is supposedly worthwhile taking. With a good social media marketing strategy and word of mouth usage, the hope is that this will pay off and trying to save 30% won’t cost Epic more than the savings.

This is also going to have a major impact on the long-term health of the Play Store, and indeed in how people use their Android devices. With the ability to download third party apps without any issues, all it takes is a proprietary installer to be made on the developer side to make sure it can install free from the Play Store’ need to verify it.

With Amazon also using their own side-loaded Amazon Appstore, this is not the first – or indeed the last – company to try and take on Google. It could be a good thing in the long-term for Android, as it can show that it isn’t inextricably linked and tethered to the Play Store for app performance.

By making it easy to show just simple it is to circumvent the Play Store, this is likely to be a moment of immediate tension for Google. While the developers are being quick to dissuade any comments about piracy and fraudulent downloads due to being off the Play Store, this argument is sure to create a rather tense experience for both Epic Games and Google for some time to come. If you want to do the L dance on Android, then, you’ll need to download it directly from the Epic website.

Movie-Inspired Rides That Have Been Shut Down

We are going to miss these theme park rides. For many years, they have been the most exciting features in the parks. Having a nice ride in the theme parks for your favorite movies is like acting a role in the movies. There was such huge patronage for these parks, so it is surprising that the owners decided to shut them down. So here are the theme parks we discovered have been closed permanently. So sad…

Ghostbusters Spooktacular

We all loved the movie, and it was a thrill to have an adventure at the Spooktacular Show where the ‘ghoulish’ creatures threatened to topple your ride. The theme ride represented the Sci-Fi movie with popular characters such as the Marshmallow man popping out to scare the visitors. Over the years some modifications were done to include the character played by Ricky Moranis. However, the show has been shut down, leaving behind only the memories of the good times.

Twister… Ride It Out!

You must remember the movie Twister, it was one of the best movies of 1996. We expected some sequels to add new twists to the story, but nothing was produced in the years that followed. The show developed with this theme was spectacular. The visitors were made to experience astonishing effects of a tornado while standing on a platform; it was so real. Unfortunately, this park was shut down in 2015. Now you can find the Jimmy Fallon ride in its place, it is good, but we miss the ‘Ride it Out’ experience.

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Submarine Voyage

In 1954, the 20,000 Leagues ‘Under The Sea’ movie was the inspiration behind the Starboard Ride which featured a high-resolution viewing. It was opened in 1994, and the visitors were thrilled. The ride took the guests through the adventures of Captain Nemo and his band of tourists as they journeyed under the sea for 23 years. Such an adventure but not to be experienced again.

Kongfrontation

King Kong was an awesome hit in the theatres. The Universal Studios had to recreate an amazing adventure at the Florida Island of Adventure. Visitors could have a first-hand experience of the Skull Island. The show was called- The Reign of Kong. It was a spectacular ride; the Kongfrontation experience featured the King Kong in the 1976 movie. Visitors went on a ride on a tram through the Island to escape the angry Kong. Such a thrilling experience. The show was closed in 2002; now visitors can experience the mummy themed ride based on the movie “The Mummy.”

Drop Zone: Stunt Tower

Paramount pictures joined in on the theme park business by developing their themed ride based on the Wesley Snipes movie the drop zone. The ride was successful with so many tourists queuing up for the experience. The Drop Zone theme ride was set-up to compete with the themed rides developed by Disney and Universal Pictures. However, Paramount pictures shifted its focus away from managing theme rides, and the show was closed.

Star Tours

The Star Tours was based on the Star Wars 1977 movie adaptation. The location of Star Tours was in Florida, Paris, California, and Japan. The ride has now been upgraded to feature the newer Star Wars stimulation with an added attraction where 3PO, R2, and D2 are the hosts. There is also a new robot pilot representing RX 24 also called Rex.

Hurler

The theme parked styled after Wayne’s World is one of the parks funded by Paramount Pictures. The comedy themed show included the puking and hurling experience the audience saw on the show. However, Wayne’s World part of the show was canceled in 2000 when the parks where sold.

There are 5 more including Back to The Future and more:

Die Hard Wins Big Time (Finally)

With Die Hard being written off as a Christmas movie by John McClane himself, fans of the movie are naturally feeling their noses a touch out of joint. A classic Christmas movie for those who cannot stomach stuff like The Nightmare Before Christmas, it’s easy to see why so many people find it hard to agree with Bruce Willis in his assessment.

However, if you are feeling raw about this decision, you might be pleased to know that Die Hard was rated the best action movie of all-time recently. The likes of Lethal Weapon and Terminator gave it a good run for its money, of course. But, how can anything beat John McClane and his perma-white vest and cut-to-hell feet taking on some of the most maniacal Eastern Europeans you’ll likely see in cinema?

In the 80s and 90s, the sheer level of competition for such an accolade would have been suffocating. With the likes of Machete (albeit a comedy in many ways) and The Raid probably being the best modern equivalents, it’s easy to see why so many people are still dewy-eyed and nostalgic for the good old movies.

Thanks to the recent Entertainment Weekly vote, we can finally say that Mr. McClane and his jaunt through the Nakatomi Plaza to save everyone from having a rather ruinous festive period. Throw in the marriage dynamics, the awesome cat-and-mouse chase with the bad guys and his parlay with the coppers outside, and it’s easy to see why Die Hard remains such a fabled classic.

EW voted it the best action movie ever, and it was rated by Empire as the 29th best movie of all-time regardless of the genre. There are many reasons that many Die Hard one of the best action movies of the entertainment era, of course.

The plot is brilliant, the characters are awesome and the bad guy – Hans Gruber – might just be the best villain of all-time. Played by the amazing Alan Rickman (RIP), he manages to make sure that the movie has an edge to it where you worry that McClane might be up against it here.

What makes Die Hard so special?

From the amazing shoeless battles to the smart thinking of McClane to try and get the cops to notice the Plaza is in trouble, there are so many amazing things that take place in the movie. Really, given most action movies are absolute nonsense in terms of the plot, Die Hard stands out because it’s actually a good plot.

Is it mind that a man in a pair of slacks and no socks can wipe out a platoon of some of the worst terrorists in the world? Just a touch. Is his accuracy absolutely outstanding for someone who isn’t a military sniper? Yes, mightily.

Does Mr. Rickman provide us with the best example of someone with a command of multiple accents? You bet.

Die Hard is a special film. You don’t need me to tell you the plot: you just need to watch an 80s masterpiece at work. There’s a reason it’s voted as the best of its kind: it stands out far above anything else from the 80s, 90s or any other action movie era.

John McClane, take a bow: you managed to create an entire industry trying to match your amazing feats on the screen. From Speed to Air Force One through to things like The Expendables, it’s so easy to see where the inspiration come from: the super-durable vents of the Nakatomi Plaza.

Biggest Trailers To Come Out of Comic-Con

Every year San Diego Comic-Con sees the release of many new film trailers and TV show peeks throughout the four-day event, and this year is no different. Movie studios and television stations hold panels to showcase upcoming properties. Some of what they are showing is exclusive to the con itself, but some are the worldwide debut of some of the most expected projects.

Here are the 8 biggest movie and TV trailers Comic-Con 2018 had to offer.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars (season 7)

It’s hard to remember now, but not so long ago the only Star Wars movie or television show we had after the prequel trilogy was George Lucas’ animated series The Clone Wars. The show ran for six seasons under the guidance of Dave Filoni. To celebrate The Clone Wars’ 10th anniversary, Filoni hosted a panel at Comic-Con. Fans came to reminisce but were treated to a sweet surprise announcement that the series would be revived for a 12-episode season 7. Plus the first new Star Wars: The Clone Wars trailer and poster were revealed as well. The show will return on Disney’s streaming service, which is expected to launch in 2019.

Godzilla: King of Monsters

Gareth Edwards’ 2014 Godzilla film effectively rebooted the classic Toho monster property, and launched a new cinematic universe that will eventually see the iconic creature face off against King Kong. The second entry in Legendary and Warner Bros’ MonsterVerse arrived last year with Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ Kong: Skull Island, a prequel introducing King Kong. Next, director Michael Dougherty’s Godzilla: King of Monsters continues the story from Edwards’ film. A teaser trailer for Godzilla 2 was unveiled earlier this week, previewing the full trailer’s release during Comic-Con.

Dr. Who (Season 11)

He is coming back. The thing is he is actually a she now and has multiple companions this time around. That’s right Dr. Who, the long-running BBC Sci-FI is back and is changing things up a bit both in front and behind the camera.  With the start of season 11, Jodie Whittaker will be the first woman to play the Doctor, following Peter Capaldi’s departure in the 2017 Christmas Special. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, showrunner Steven Moffat stepped down, with Chris Chibnall taking the reins. Now we have the first look at this ever-evolving show.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald

This is the only trailer on the list that is not the first footage the general audience is seeing from the film. The thing is the trailer is so good and full of details that we can not skip it. This is the second chapter in what is still being planned as a five-movie series, that is acting as a prequel to the famous Harry Potter Saga. The Crimes of Grindelwald (as its subtitle implies) further brings the subplot from the first Fantastic Beasts movie – concerning the dark wizard Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) – into the center of things. It seems that Newt Scamander’s (Eddie Redmayne) story takes a darker and more dangerous turn in this film, but at least this time around he will have the help of none other than Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law)  himself.

Mayans (Season 1)

\

FX’s Sons of Anarchy, a gritty drama about the lives of those involved with a California-based motorcycle club, ran for seven seasons on the network from 2008-2014. And while Kurt Sutter’s Charlie Hunnam-starring, critically successful drama has been done for some time, it still inspires a dedicated fan base. As such, Sutter is returning with Mayans M.C., the spinoff series following JD Pardo’s Ezekiel “EZ” Reyes. After the Mayans M.C. pilot was reshot, the series was picked up by FX and is now moving forward. Now, ahead of the show’s Comic-Con panel on Sunday, the full Mayans M.C. trailer has been released.

Next Page: Superheros on both the big and the small screen.

Game of Thrones Just Broke Another Record

For some time now, Game of Thrones has been the biggest fantasy release in a decade. It comfortably matches – and in some ways beats – The Lord of the Rings in terms of its overall popularity. People who used to laugh at ‘Warcraft nerds’ are now engrossed in a fantasy collection made specifically for those very audiences. It’s great to see that we’re moving away from a world whereby people who like fantasy stuff are considered nerds – but I digress.

GoT, then, has managed to create a world whereby more or less everyone can enjoy fantasy without feeling uncomfortable. It’s part of the reasons why it has become such a record breaker: people from all backgrounds love the show!

Well, that popularity was proven in the most silent but significant of ways. How so? Because it picked up a whopping 22 Emmy nominations. That’s a record for a TV show or any program and immediately shines a light on the massive popularity of this incredible TV show.

Part of the reason why it is so immensely popular is the fact that it just has so much depth to the characters. With so many people taking part, there’s a character for everyone to fall in love with should they so choose. One of the Emmy’s that it was put forward for, though, is a genuine history-maker – something increasingly rare in the showbiz world.

It all comes down to the work of Peter Dinklage. He was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series and is now the actor to have the most nominations for that particular part of the Emmy awards. That’s hugely impressive. He’s been nominated for that role in every series of Game of Thrones – seven in total. That beats the likes of Bruce Weitz and Will Geer, who were all nominated for it six times in the past.

Winning the Emmy in 2011 for the first season, he also won it in 2015 and is the only actor who has won an Emmy award for their work in Game of Thrones. However, he’s not the only nominee. For example, Lena Headey and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau were both nominated for roles as well.

While some people might not be a huge fan of the show, even its biggest detractors can do a lot of work to really bring the show together in style.
