Best Job Ever? A Greek Island is Hiring A Babysitter for 55 Cats

The fight between Dog People and Cat-people will probably never be over as the ones that prefer the cat are often mocked for their choice of a four-legged friend. If you are feeling down because of it and in need some feline love we have some good news for you as now you can actually get paid to stroke, snuggle, and just generally hang out with a bunch of cats. Not only that, but you get to do it on a Greek island.

It’s just like the Mamma Mia movie, but instead of Meryl Streep going through her history with a song, there are a lot of loving cats.

You really have to enjoy the company of cats cause this job will require to watch over 55 of them. The job takes place on a ‘small paradise’ island called Syros, and involves running a cat sanctuary while the owner is away.

The job was shared on Facebook by God’s Little People Cat Rescue, and asks for ‘a mature and genuinely passionate cat lover who knows how to handle many cats and would love their company’.

The post goes on saying “I am looking for someone who can take over the daily running of my Greek cat sanctuary in my absence. You will have 55 cats in your care and need to be able to overview them all + feed and medicate (big added bonus if you’re trained vet. nurse!). [sic] You will be expected to take the cat to the vet in case of illness and therefore will need to be able to drive a manual car. Apart from feeding the cats the cats will also need heaps of love and attention.”

The best part is that Not only do you get to spend your days surrounded by fluffy cuteness, but you also have your living expenses paid for. The job offers “a fully paid (incl. water & electricity) semidetached modern tiny house with it’s own garden (direct view to the Aegean Sea) plus a salary.”

The downside is that according to the post they don’t get many visitors and the person who will take the job will have to be fine to be alone for that time. “We are located in a secluded nature preserved area which is very tranquil and quiet in winter time but busy during the summer. You’ll no doubt thrive best if you are the type of person who appreciates nature and likes tranquility – and rest comfortably in your own company. That said, you’ll never feel lonely in the company of the cats and you’ll be expected to live with a small handful of cats in your house.” She is right about it, that is for sure.

The employment starts in October and lasts a minimum of six months, with an introductory unpaid two-to-four weeks at the start of the role. If you are interested you can check all the details you need here. Don’t forget to bring a rope and a red laser.

Finnish Singing Taxi Service Makes Waves

Do you ever get into a taxi, feeling glad for the ride home, only to find out you have no money left?

Well, this can be awkward. You can either pay up the driver with a credit card in some cases, you can get money from your home or you could go to a bank machine. If none of these options are available, you can always get taken to the police station, right?

Well, thankfully, for the people of Finland, a new option exists: Sing!

With a new taxi shuttle service in Finland, you can pay off your cab ride by belting out a banger for the driver. Fortum Singalong Shuttle is a major and comical new summer service that is going to be up and running for most of the summer. it’s mostly aimed at getting people to the popular Ruisrock Festival, which is being held at present. This amazing service combines together the concept of pooling to get to the festival simply by paying for the ride with their voice.

These emission-free electric cars will be going around without causing any environmental harm. With a tablet installed into each car, you can choose the song that you wish to sing and then go for it. However, if you stop singing, then the ride will grind to a halt and you need to start singing again to keep it going!

This unique design by Fortum is supposed to help get customers more engaged with the ride and to help them see that a cleaner world is both possible and affordable. According to brand manager Jussi Malkia, this is a major step forward for transport, saying: ‘‘With Singalong Shuttle we want to show people in a joyful way how comfortable and easy it is to drive an electric car. The silent electric cars make it possible to enjoy singing without background noise and emissions’’

As one of the biggest names in the region, Fortum has quickly become a worldwide name thanks to this hilarious new trick that they have come up with. The aim is to try and get people to and from the festival without much issue. While those like myself who despise James Corden’ Carpool Karaoke might not like the reason for this existing, we can applaud the hearty message behind the campaign for sure!

Watch: Polar Bear Takes a Hotel Room for Free

There are times when we go out, and upon return, we might find a bug or other insects roaming around the floor. But this wasn’t the case Malin Stark witnessed. Malin is a nature guide in Norway. On a fine Sunday morning, Malin came back from a tour and found something unusual in her hotel room. She found a Polar bear sticking his head out of the hotel room’s window. This was very unusual.

Curious Creatures

This polar bear surprised everyone. Why would he enter a room? Maybe he was looking for food or he was just curious to find what’s inside a nature guide’s room. The curious polar bear decided to explore the hotel room and get some rest there. During the time he stayed the bear messed up the room by breaking wine bottles. The polar bear toured the room and when he decided to leave through the window he got stuck.

A Large Bear Stuck In a Tight Place

While the Polar bear enjoyed in the room he thought of going back to his own place and saw a window nearby. He saw a window and decided to get out from there. Unfortunately, he was too huge to get out of that small window.

A Slick Escape

The polar bear got stressed out. People started to gather around to help the bear come out. Even a helicopter arrived to help the poor bear. The loud noise of the helicopter further panicked the bear and he started to push himself harder, eventually squeezing himself out of the window. First, he took out his head, followed by paws and then the whole body. The bear was seen bleeding as he had gotten a small cut on his paw.

The Polar bear really did have a lot of adventure. We hope the polar bear’s paw gets recovered soon.

Discovered: The Most Unfortunate Man in Pompeii

As one of the most famous events to take place in ancient history, the devastation of Pompeii is a well-known part of the era. The most daunting thing about the whole experience, though, is the fact that so many bodies were found essentially encased in ash. At the archaeological dig site, many people are found to have died more or less on the spot.

One man was even found, uh, enjoying himself one last time before the end came. It’s all rather comical most of the time, but one rather tragic find was made recently. What is being called the “unlucky man” is the perfect example of bad human luck. He was found to have successfully evaded the eruption of Mount Vesuvius but was then crushed by a massive falling boulder.

Since then, he has stayed there, his body trapped. Given he died in 79 CE, that’s quite a long time to be trapped!

As you might imagine, the web was alight with funny jokes and humor. It was sent out by CNN, tweeting: “Archaeologists working at the ancient Roman city of Pompeii, Italy, uncovered the remains of a 30-year-old man who appears to have survived the initial eruption of Vesuvius in 79 A.D., only to be killed when he was struck by a large slab of stone.”

As if being crushed in such brutally unfortunate circumstance was not enough, the good people of the internet took it upon themselves to begin mercilessly laughing at the comedic effect.

From memes of people relating their own life crisis in relation to the boulder or simply making quips that they’d quite like to have been in his place, the web has yet again shown its capacity to take a uniquely tragic discovery and turn it into something funny.

If he’s still floating around in whatever kind of afterlife comes, then we hope that he’s having a good laugh at all the punchlines he’s helped to forge. It’s some way to go, and definitely one of the more damning ways to be rewarded for managing to avoid the eruption of an all-conquering volcano!

Bikes are the future. Actually, they are the present in many places around the globe. One problem all bike owners still have is bike parking. They get too full, too quick and then go figure where to secure your bike. Watch the video below.

In Holland, improvements are being made for bike owners. The world’s biggest underground bike parking opened at a Dutch city called Utrecht. This underground parking center provides security for bike owners.

The parking center has three floors and it can cater up to 6000 bikes(!!!). Utrecht authorities keep expanding the parking lot and they promised that by the end of the year (2018) it would be able to house up to 12500 bikes.

This is the rent-by-hour bike service, also located in the new underground bike parking. The bikes are being readied for their underground journey to their new rent center.

Take a look at this massive bike rack.

Like a car park, but smaller, healthier and cooler.

Ronaldo 2017 in pictures

Cristiano Ronaldo

If there is one debate you can count on finding everywhere around the globe – it’s Ronaldo vs. Messi. Their professional rivalry has elevated their teams and made football a better and more interesting game. No two players could be more different. One is tall the other is short, one plays for Barcelona and their tiki-taka, and the other has a team built around him to maximize his productivity. One is an artist with the ball and you never know what to expect of him (except the exceptional) while the other is an amazing athlete and a focused personality. We are a lucky bunch to have the privilege to enjoy these two artists throughout their entire career.

But only one has done the unthinkable – win the EUFA Champions League Cup back to back. In honor of his extraordinary achievement, we give you Cristiano Ronaldo’s 2016-7 season in color.

U2 2017 : Joshua Tree Tour

Stadiums all across America and Europe will not be the hosts for just sports events this year, but also for the well known U2. The group will celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Joshua Tree by performing the 1987 album from beginning to the end. OneRepublic, Mumford & Sons and The Lumineers will rotate as opening acts. The tour starts at BC Place on May 12th and ends in Cleveland at FirstEnergy Stadium on July 1st. Then, the group will fly to Europe and run shows with Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.

The first time in the history of U2, The Joshua Tree Tour will be an event where the group will play a classic album in concert. The album that they picked is probably one of the greatest and full of hits like “With or Without You”, “Where The Streets Have No Name”, and “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.” Some of the rarely played songs like “In God’s Country”, “Trip Through Your Wires” and “Exit” will make those hardcore fans very happy. Also, “Red Hill Mining Town” will live up to its first live performance.

The structure of the show is still under construction. U2 guitarist The Edge said:” The show might not necessarily start with Track 1, Side 1 “Where The Streets Have No Name” because we feel like maybe we need to build up to that moment and we are still in the middle of figuring out exactly how the running order will go.”

Last year, at the time the group was working on the finishing touches for their new album Songs of Experience, the idea for The Joshua Tree tour was born. The Edge said:” The election happened and suddenly the world changed. We’ve got to give ourselves a moment to think about this record and about how it relates to what’s going on in the world.”

Guys in the group came to the conclusion that worldwide political situation is very similar to like it was back in 1987 when The Joshua Tree was made. So the band saw the opportunity to make a tour and give themselves some time to think about the new album. Edge said:”The Joshua Tree album was written in the mid-1980s, during the Reagan-Thatcher era of British and U.S. politics. It was a period when there was a lot of unrest. It just felt like, ‘Wow, these songs have a new meaning and a new resonance today that they didn’t have three years ago, four years ago.’ We needed to put the album on ice for a minute just to really think about it one more time before putting it out; just to make sure that it really was what we wanted to say.”

The singer, Bono, also had a few words to say about The Joshua Tree and the upcoming tour:” Recently I listened back to The Joshua Tree for the first time in nearly 30 years and it’s quite an opera. A lot of emotions which feel strangely current: love, loss, broken dreams, seeking oblivion, polarization … all the greats. I’ve sung some of these songs a lot, but never all of them. I’m up for it and if our audience is as excited as we are, it’s going to be a great night.”

If you are interested to hear U2 again, tickets sale starts on Tuesday, January 17th, for the US shows.

These Artists Are Using 3D Technology For a Unique Purpose

Historical artifacts have always been easy to depict and decifer where they come from and what ancient era they have been created in. Furthermore, they become easier to write about from a historical perspective. Recently, about 135 artifacts in the form of wooden carvings have been found that have such tiny and intricate details, artists are trying their hardest to figure out where they have come from, and what the meanings of them are. This could seem to be a hard job, but the ones doing the digging have found it slightly easier with the great use of xray technology.

artifacts-one

Through the start of the research, artists have figured out that these wooden carvings come from between the years of 1500-1535; that is only an estimate, of course. These artists also have come to believe that the art comes from the Netherlands as back then merchants were carving wooden, religious figures to sell and make a profit from. After a while, however, the style faded out and the carvings became artifacts. Obvioulsy this is just a speculation, but the history behind it can be a pointer that could help the artists continue to dig into in order to find the answers they so desire.

All we can say here is thank God for technology, because aside from history, the adventure of discovery had become a lot easier for the process. There has been a use of 3D interpretation technology as well as micro-CT scanning; with this technology, the carvings become a lot more legible like a magnifying glass on the skin looking into hair follicles. Although there is both technology and history as a helper, it is still very hard to discover the truth. One could only hope that soon the xray and 3D devices will better decipher and soon uncover the truth of these beautiful, historical masterpieces.
