“The Simpsons” TV show started 27 years ago, and today it is a well-known international comic institution. Here are 20 fun facts about one of the funniest cartoon in the last 30 years…

The number that Bart dials when he calls Moe’s Tavern to prank him is 764-84377. This number is one digit longer than the usual American phone number and if you turn it to letters, it says “SMITHERS”.

Have you ever wondered why is that so? “An animator came up with “the Simpsons” yellow and as soon as she showed it to me I said:”This is the answer!” because when you’re flicking through channels with your remote control, and a flash of yellow goes by, you’ll know you’re watching The Simpsons.” explains the creator Matt Groening.

The Homer’s saying “D’oh!”, when an episode that you’re watching is dubbed in French, is translated to “T’oh!” and in the Spanish is “Ouch!”.

The Oxford English Dictionary actually added the word “d’oh” to the list in 2001 and it is spelled “doh”. The meaning of the word is:” Expressing frustration at the realization that things have turned out badly or not as planned, or that one has just said or done something foolish. Also (usu. mildly derogatory): implying that another person has said or done something foolish.”

Every character in the show has only four fingers. The God is the only one that has been given all five fingers.

Making of each episode takes around six to eight months.

Lisa’s 8^th birthday has been celebrated on two totally different episodes.
