Finnish Singing Taxi Service Makes Waves

Do you ever get into a taxi, feeling glad for the ride home, only to find out you have no money left?

Well, this can be awkward. You can either pay up the driver with a credit card in some cases, you can get money from your home or you could go to a bank machine. If none of these options are available, you can always get taken to the police station, right?

Well, thankfully, for the people of Finland, a new option exists: Sing!

With a new taxi shuttle service in Finland, you can pay off your cab ride by belting out a banger for the driver. Fortum Singalong Shuttle is a major and comical new summer service that is going to be up and running for most of the summer. it’s mostly aimed at getting people to the popular Ruisrock Festival, which is being held at present. This amazing service combines together the concept of pooling to get to the festival simply by paying for the ride with their voice.

These emission-free electric cars will be going around without causing any environmental harm. With a tablet installed into each car, you can choose the song that you wish to sing and then go for it. However, if you stop singing, then the ride will grind to a halt and you need to start singing again to keep it going!

This unique design by Fortum is supposed to help get customers more engaged with the ride and to help them see that a cleaner world is both possible and affordable. According to brand manager Jussi Malkia, this is a major step forward for transport, saying: ‘‘With Singalong Shuttle we want to show people in a joyful way how comfortable and easy it is to drive an electric car. The silent electric cars make it possible to enjoy singing without background noise and emissions’’

As one of the biggest names in the region, Fortum has quickly become a worldwide name thanks to this hilarious new trick that they have come up with. The aim is to try and get people to and from the festival without much issue. While those like myself who despise James Corden’ Carpool Karaoke might not like the reason for this existing, we can applaud the hearty message behind the campaign for sure!

Want to Check Out Decade Old Tweets? Now You Can

Do you ever come across someone tweeting some form of wisdom or advice, like it was the most obvious thing in the world?

It’s commonplace to find someone today opining their own expertise and their own quality. They always talk up how they feel today, often neglecting to remember that social media leaves a permanent imprint. What you were saying a few short years ago can easily be found and then compared to what you are saying today – often with some very embarrassing consequences.

With that in mind, then, it’s important that you take a look at this. Found by the brilliant Andy Baio, this tool helps you to essentially see the timelines of who you follow today, 10 years ago. While those who were not on then will obviously not appear, it’s a very interesting tool to see just how much Twitter has changed.

Today, it’s the home of champagne revolution, of witch hunts and marketing campaigns that can change the world. It’s where the President of the United States looks to opine one everything from TV shows to foreign policy. Ten years ago, though? It was basically just a site for talking about absolute nonsense with people.

Most people just tweeted what they were doing that day, using the old 140-character limit to basically just talk about basic stuff going on in their life. From people talking about their smartphone charging to people just talking about going for walks, Twitter appears to have been a much more calming, serene place a decade ago.

It was actually pretty dull to be honest. Most people just posted basic life stories and had mundane conversations with people they knew. Basically, it was Facebook. While today it’s the breeding ground of everything from memes to trolls, it was once basically just a big venue for everyone to talk to each other about their day.

The jokes, though, sucked. Twitter today is famous for being very funny, but in 2008 it appeared to lack anything like the madness or the humour that has become such a high point of social media life in 2018. It was all pretty low-key, to be honest. No politicians getting caught up in outrageous conversations with their constituents, and no businesses having their eyebrow-raising practices brought up in public.

In retrospect, I think that I prefer the modern, chaotic take on Twitter – it’s just a lot wilder than I would have expected it to ever become. Looking back on my 2008 feed, it’s definitely the case.

How To Save Your Snapchat Content

Despite being one of the most popular social media platforms of the modern era, some people have issues with Snapchat. The fact that everything is so short-term is one of the major issues of this platform. Indeed, it’s part of the reason why so many put a lot of time and effort into using other forms of social media. They want their media and entertainment to last longer.

Snapchat has seen a loss of users in the past months and it’s being deleted from a lot of phones. Before you decide to get rid of it, though, you can save some of your content from Snapchat. It won’t be easy :-)

Taking Those Snapchat Memories

Snapchat uses a system known as ‘memories’ to store all of that information. Since it’s all loaded on the Snapchat servers, though, you need to be smart to be able to get access to what is rightfully yours.

Sadly, you cannot mass-export everything – you need to go through them one at a time to find what you are looking for. Simply head to Memories, the cloud storage system for Snapchat, and head to My Snap. If you see an image or video that you intend to save, simply hit “Save to Camera Roll” on that image and boom, it’s now on your hardware for good.

Now it might take you a lot of time to go through each and every shot, but you can do it. If you want to make sure you catch all of those comical images and shots, you can use the ability to scroll through your Memories to do so.

Yes, it will take you a long time. And yes, you should probably look to set aside an evening/afternoon if you use SC a lot. If you are sick of their weird advertising policy or the rebranded design, though, you can finally grab all of your beloved content and make for the exit.

Saving Contacts

Lastly, if you want to keep all of those SC contacts, you need to use a special script which you can grab via this GitHub solution. Here, you can extract all of your contacts and then make sure you have their details for future contact on another medium.

However, be warned that Snapchat is naturally banning people for using this solution. If you do this, then, well, you have been warned beforehand – good luck!
