Looking at old photos of celebrities and stars is a lot of fun and brings back many images of days gone by.  We have collected 60 photos to share with you and hope you enjoy each and every one.

Lynda Carter Battling With The Network Stars

During the 70s and early 80s, a very popular show on television was called Battle of the Network Stars.  It showed celebrities engaging in various athletic contests and was hosted by legendary sports announcer Howard Cosell.

The show let celebs show off their athletic abilities while wearing tight-fitting swimwear.  You can watch Scott Baio take on Sonny Bono in a track and field event.

In this photograph, you can see Linda Carter (Wonder Woman) limbering up for one of The Battle Of The Network Stars episode.

Some events included Tug o' War, The Obstacle Course, and the Dunk Tank.  Viewers tuned in to find out which network would win this time around.

Mr. MJ Please Meet Mr. T

Look at this early Mr. T meets MJ before he was a member of the A-Team series. In the 80s, he was the bodyguard for legendary Michael Jackson.

He also guarded other celebrities including Steve McQueen, Diana Ross, and Muhammad Ali.  He would charge more than $3,000 a night to protect these stars.

Once, Mr. T described being a bodyguard is like being a kamikaze pilot.  He also had a great business card that read – Next to God, there is no better protector than I.

In the 70s, Mr. T who's really Laurence Tureaud worked as a bouncer in Chicago after trying out for the Green Bay Packers but was unsuccessful.

The Who In Concert, 1970

This photograph was used as a publicity shot for their 1970 tour and support for their albums Tommy and Live at Leeds.  What's wild, is how high off the ground Peter Townsend is!

The Who's stage performances on tour were dominated by their legendary rock opera Tommy.

Later on, Tommy was made into a film.  After Tommy's release, The Who became super rock stars and started performing in much larger places than the previous tour.

Their tour began with a two-day performance at New York City's Metropolitan Opera House. That said, their performance was incorrectly billed stating this was their final performance of Tommy!

1982 - Schwarzenegger & Bergman Training For Conan The Barbarian

The film Conan The Barbarian is the story of a barbarian looking for revenge for the death of his parents and his tribe and the film that skyrocketed Schwarzenegger to fame!

Schwarzenegger did not wear a wig in the film, he decided that growing his hair long was the better choice. Both Schwarzenegger and co-star Sandahl Bergman did all their own stunts because the studio could not find anyone that could serve as their body doubles.

Another trivia moment, James Earl Jones was added to the cast at the last minute.  Jones and Schwarzenegger became great friends while filming and Jones coached Schwarzenegger on acting.

1975 - Beatty & Fisher On The Set of "Shampoo"

Before Fisher became known as Princess Leia, she had her film debut in the 1975 Hal Ashby film Shampoo, starring Warren Beatty.  She was cast in the role of Lorna Karpf through family connections.

When Beatty was running lines with her, he would eat.  Paul Simon wrote the original music for Shampoo and later on, he married Fisher.

Beatty's character in Shampoo was based on the actual hairdresser Jay Sebring.  Jay used to date Sharon Tate and both of them were murdered at the hands of the Manson Family.

Denver, Wells, & Louise From Gilligan's Island

Gilligan's Island ran from 1964 to 1967 and Bob Denver played the leading role of Gilligan.

Not only a single guy surrounded by the lovely Ginger (Tina Louise) and Mary Ann (Dawn Wells), he was surrounded by an excellent cast, Alan Hale, Jr (The Skipper), Russell Johnson (The Professor), Jim Backus (Thurston Howell II), and Natalie Schafer (Lovey), all of whom were major stars in their own right.

Many viewers of the show often asked, how could the professor be so good at building things, but could not repair their boat??

Also, the next time you watch this show, look carefully at the very first shot of the opening credits.  The American flag can be seen flying half-mast over the harbor.  The reason - President John F. Kennedy had been assassinated just before the shot was filmed.

David Prowse, 'Darth Vader', In The Early 1960s

For those who don't know, David Prowse is a British actor, a champion weightlifter and bodybuilder, he is also the guy who played Darth Vader in all three of the original Star Wars films.

Let's face it, what would Darth Vader be if it weren't for David's imposing form and Jame Earl Jones' booming baritone voice?  David was never expected to be the voice of Vader but he did learn all the lines while they were filming.

David Prowse was 6-feet 6-inches tall and had won the British heavyweight weightlifting championship in 1962.  Previously, he appeared as the Frankenstein monster and was in a stint on the Benny Hill show.

In the beginning, the production crew had a stumbling block because Prowse's voice just wasn't menacing enough for the character.  The voice was later dubbed in by Broadway star James Earl Jones.

Another trivia moment – Prowse trained Christopher Reeve for his role as Superman in 1978.  Originally, he thought he was going to play the part but then realized he was Superman's trainer.

A White Lotus Esprit S1 Was Used In The Spy Who Loved Me

Outside of James Bond, the Bond women, and cool gadgets, the other amazing attractions were the assortment of cars!  Appearing in 1977, the Lotus Esprit Series I was able to turn into a submarine in the film The Spy Who Loved Me.

During the Roger Moore era of playing James Bond, this car was the catalyst for one of the very best Bond chases of all times and the entire chase took place underwater!

The Brits were really excited as well!  It was the first British sports car to be featured in a Bond film since the Aston Martin in Goldfinger.

Stevie Nicks, A True Iconic Bohemian Beauty, 1970s

Gorgeous Stevie Nicks was the lead of Fleetwood Mac and the queen of rock in the 70s.  While Fleetwood Mac was constantly topping the charts, her personal life was a train wreck.

Between spending tons of money and partying, things got quickly out of control.  She said that during the recording of the Rumors album, she would carry a gram of cocaine in her boot.

Even though she tried to fight her cocaine addiction problem, it escalated during the 70s bringing turmoil and stress to the band.  At one point she had a hopeless affair with drummer Mick Fleetwood that was continually fueled by drugs.

In 1986, she got the scare of her life when a surgeon told her she had a very dangerous, large hole in her nose. He warned her that so much as one more hit of cocaine could be her last.

That hole in her nose could cause her brain to hemorrhage. That was enough to convince her to get into rehab.  That was her wake up call!  To the here and now, Fleetwood Mack is back up and on tour!

Freddie Mercury And His Partner Jim Hutton, 1985

The world just was not the same after Freddie Mercury passed away from complications caused by AIDS in 1991.  Jim Hutton lived with Freddie over the last six years of his life.  He was there for Freddie through his illness up to the last day when he passed.

Jim Hutton was a hairdresser in his hometown in County Carlow, Ireland before ever meeting Mercury.  Shortly after they started dating, Hutton lived with Mercury in his Garden Lodge home where they stayed together until Mercury's death.

Their relationship was long before anyone recognized same-sex marriage.  Although they were never officially married, they both wore wedding bands to show their devotion to each other.  Freddie Mercury died wearing his wedding band.

Marilyn Monroe Taking In The Sights At Griffith Park, Los Angeles, 1950

Photographer Ed Clark worked for Life Magazine from the 40s through the 60s.  In 1950, he received a call that would change his career forever. A friend at 20^th Century Fox asked if he would take photos of a young 24-year-old, blonde, unknown actress named Marilyn Monroe.

They met in Hollywood for a photo shoot. Clark recalled later on that she was almost unknown then so he was able to spend a lot of time shooting her.

They would go to Griffith Park and she would read poetry and he would take her picture.  He sent several rolls of film to Life in New York, but they wired back “Who the hell is Marilyn Monroe?” - Well as you can guess, the rest is just Iconic History!

1970s - Saturday Night Live's Trio Chase, Aykroyd, and Belushi

In the 1970s, the best comedy to hit the air was Saturday Night Live and if you lived in NYC or could drive there, going to a live performance couldn't get any better.

Chevy Chase, Dan Aykroyd, and John Belushi didn't just fall from the sky before changing the face of comedy and appearing on this incredible show.

Chevy Chase started with the Channel One Theater in New York City.  He wrote and performed video sketches which later on showed up in the 1974 cult movie The Groove Tube.

Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi starred on Second City which had two theaters, one in Chicago and the other in Toronto.  Just before the launching of Saturday Night Live, Chase joined Belushi to be part of the National Lampoon Radio Hour which produced the live touring show, Lemmings.

Lemmings had future Saturday Night Live stars Bill Murray, Gilda Radner, and Christopher Guest.

This is a great shot of them from the 70s when they were the clever, unconventional, and even embarrassing future of comedy.

The 1970s Joan Jett And The Runaways

The Runaways were a band that paved the way for women to be major celebrities in the world of rock and roll.  This band also launched the careers of Joan Jett and Lita Ford.

In Los Angeles 1975, these teens formed the band and released four studio albums.  They did receive most of their success overseas, especially in Japan.  Some of their best hits included Cherry Bomb, Hollywood, and Queens of Noise.

Eventually, due to musical differences, the band broke up.  Joan Jett went in the direction of a Ramones punk rock and others wanted to be more involved with hard rock and heavy metal.

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson And His Dad, 1981

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and his father Rocky Johnson share a strong resemblance in this photo.  Dwayne started off as a wrestler as that was the occupation of most of his family members.

His father was a professional wrestler and his grandfather “High Chief” Peter Maivia was a professional wrestler.  His two uncles Afa and Sika Anoaʻi were known as The Wild Samoans.

Adding to that, his grandmother, Lia Maivia, was one of the few of the wrestling world's female promoters in Polynesian Pacific Pro Wrestling.  It seems only natural that Dwayne would start off in wrestling before building a career in movies.

Meryl Streep Takes Public Transportation

Considered as one of the best actresses of her generation, she seems a little out of place riding the subway!

That said, she comes from some very serious old-world money.  Some of her ancestors were from 17th-century immigrants from England and her eighth great-grandfather, Lawrence Wilkinson was one of the first Europeans to settle in Rhode Island.

She is also a distant relative of William Penn, founder of Pennsylvania and her family is among the first to purchase land in the state.

Outside of all this history, she is also considered a natural actor.  Her drama professor at Vassar said that no one ever really taught Meryl acting, she really taught herself.

A Portrait Of Jack Nicholson In Aspen By Photographer Albert Watson

This is a wonderful shot of Jack Nicholson kicking back at his home in Aspen, Colorado in 1981.  It's been so long since he's been in a film that it's great to run into this photograph.

Albert Watson is a Scottish photographer who is well-known for his images of celebrities, fashion, and art photography. On another occasion, he only had one hour for the shoot and was informed that Steve Jobs hated photographers.

He put Jobs at ease by letting him know he could complete the shoot in half an hour.

It seems that Watson has a gift of getting people at ease and calmed down like Nicholson and Jobs so he can capture a photo that tells a story.

1976 - Robert Plant, His Wife And Their Kids Walking At Their Farm in Wales

This is a great shot of Robert Plant, frontman of Led Zeppelin, taking a walk with his family on their property in Wales.

She actually was in the 1976 film The Song Remains The Same but was not credited.  They met at a Georgie Fame concert in 1966 and married in 1968.

Robert has credited his wife for helping him through the early years when things were very lean... He wrote a song for her called Thank You.

The Cast On Saturday Night Live With Princess Leia

Carrie Fisher hosted Saturday Night Live in 1978 when Star Wars was in full swing.  Dressed as Princess Leia in the opening monologue, she kicked off the show.

She also appeared as Princess Leia in a sketch with Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Gilda Radner, and former senator Al Franken.  Star Wars was altered as a 1950s Frankie Avalon, Annette Funicello beach movie comedy.

During her monologue, she said that she felt awkward coming out in her Princess Leia costume because it would appear that she was exploiting the movie, but she went along with it because if she had come out as herself, no one would recognize her.

Rebecca De Mornay And Tom Cruise Behind The Scenes

Many people believe that Risky Business is the best film that Tom Cruise ever made.  In 1983, this film catapulted him to superstardom.  During filming, Cruise (19) had a steamy affair with Rebecca De Mornay (23).

The problem was, De Mornay was dating actor Harry Dean Stanton at the time and he would often just show up on the set.  Cruise and De Mornay kept the relationship alive after the movie was completed.

They tried to have a long-distance relationship after Cruise left for London to film the movie Legend.  But as many things go, the relationship ended when Cruise returned to the States to film Top Gun.

The First African-American Actress Nominated For An Academy Award - Dorothy Dandridge

In 1954, the musical Carmen Jones was an all-black cast and attempted to merge grand opera with new lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein, the master of Broadway.

Dorothy Dandridge in the lead role made this movie sizzle and she was nominated for the Oscar.  This was a difficult feat for an African American woman at that time.

She started her career as a singer in many well-known venues such as the Cotton Club and the Apollo Theater.  She was nominated for a Golden Glove Award in 1959 for her brilliant performance in the movie Porgy and Bess.

Sadly, she died from a drug overdose and quite penniless in 1965 at the young age of 43.

The Master Of Comedy John Candy, 1972

John Candy, without a doubt, has got to be one of the funniest people in the industry and was a member of Second City in his earlier days.  He was born in 1950 in Newmarket, Ontario and originally enrolled in a community college as a journalism major.

Upon graduating, he got some small acting parts and appeared in the 1973 film Class of '44 but his role was not credited.  During the same year, he joined the resident ensemble of The Second City Toronto and was only 19.

In 1976, this legendary comedy show, SCTV was launched.  Later on, the show was picked up by NBC and Candy received a pair of writing Emmys for his role with the production.

Very Young Cheech And Chong Back In 1968

It's been a long time since 1968 and this picture testifies to that.  Look how young Cheech and Chong were then!  Even though they were super hot in the U.S., they actually got their start in Canada.  These two very funny guys met each other in Vancouver in the late 60s.

While Cheech was from southern California, Chong was a Canadian citizen.  Because this was at the height of the Vietnam War, Cheech moved to Canada to avoid the draft.

They started off performing in stand up clubs, then moved from just stand up to incorporating music and became the first rock and roll act.  Toward the end of the 70s, they became the biggest selling comedy act in recording history.

His Royal Badass Mick Jagger!

This photo of a super young Mick Jagger was taken when the Rolling Stones started a tour that ran from June 24 to July 28 to support their album “Aftermath”.  Hey, there are young adults who never saw Jagger this young!

The last leg of their tour was in Honolulu, Hawaii which was broadcasted on the Hawaiian radio station KPOL.  The album “Aftermath” was released by Decca Records and was a major breakthrough for the group.

This was the first album that had only original compositions by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.  If you have an original copy of this album and it's in good condition, it's probably rather valuable!

Brian Jones introduced the Stones to the sitar, Appalachian dulcimer, marimbas, and Japanese koto. "Aftermath" was also the first Rolling Stones album to be entirely recorded in the U.S. at RCA Studios in California.

Jane Seymour Enjoying The Beach, 1977

Here is actress Jane Seymour spending some fun time at the beach.  During this time, Seymour was in the Bond movie “Live and Let Die”. She was considered one of the best Bond women from all the Bond movies.

Live and Let Die starred Roger Moore as the famous James Bond and Jane Seymour played Solitaire.  As with all women in James Bond films, villainous Kananga's psychic falls for the seductive Mr. Bond.

The theme song “Live and Let Die” was performed by Paul McCartney and Wings and was considered the best Bond theme song ever.  Later on, the song was done by Guns and Roses.

A Teenage Johnny Depp Kicking It At Home

Johnny Depp learned how to play the guitar at the age of 12 which is probably how old he was in this shot.  He began playing garage bands and eventually dropped out of high school to pursue a career as a rock star.

At some point, Depp moved to Los Angeles with his band “The Kids” but the band broke up before they signed a record deal.  It looks like rock and roll fame was not in the stars for Depp.

In 1984, he landed a role in the very scary film A Nightmare on Elm Street.  In the movie, he plays one of Freddy Krueger's victims.

Ann Wilson Of Heart, Waiting For The Concert To Start, 1977

The Wilson sisters, like the Runaways, proved that women are just as good in rock and roll as guys. This is a great shot of Ann Wilson dressed in her festive attire back in 1976. During the 70s, it was unheard of women playing in rock and roll bands with Led Zeppelin-style guitars!

The band was originally named White Heart but they eventually dropped the white for just Heart.

Actually, when Ann first joined the band in the early 70s, the band was renamed Hocus Pocus but was very short-lived. Though they were originally from Seattle, Washington, they lived in Vancouver, Canada for a short while.  That is where they recorded their debut album “Dreamboat Annie”.

A Young Ozzy Osborne, 1970s

Ozzy Osborne grew up in Birmingham, England and was bitten by the acting bug really early on.  Well, here is a photo of our reality TV star when he was super young!

His first performances were in school plays performing in Gilbert and Sullivan's The Mikado and HMS Pinafore. Ozzy was greatly influenced by the Beatles, like so many of us, and said his inspiration for becoming a musician was thanks to the Beatles' song “She Loves You”.

He left school at 15 and picked up a few jobs including construction work, as a trainee plumber, toolmaker, and other odd gigs.  He would pick up whatever work he needed in order to pursue his career as an actor and musician.

1963 - Play Me Some Jazz, Steve McQueen!

This photo was taken by John Dominis for Life Magazine in 1963.  Dominis was a war photographer during Vietnam and also took many photos of Frank Sinatra. Steve McQueen was a huge fan of jazz and it seems Dominis captured it!

This photo was taken at McQueen's Palm Springs bungalow.  While putting a record on his portable stereo, the floor is covered with LPs by Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins, Frank Sinatra, and Count Basie.

Marta Kristen From 'Lost In Space', 1960s

Marta, a Norwegian-born American actress was best known for her role as Judy Robinson on the television show “Lost In Space”. The show ran from 1965 to 1968.

Before joining the cast of Lost In Space, Marta appeared on a 1961 episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents.  The episode was titled Bang! You're Dead. A little trivia, Lost In Space co-star Billy Mumy also appeared in the same episode.

Marta got her big break in 1965 when she appeared in the iconic teen flick Beach Blanket Bing.  In 1998, movie Lost In Space, she made a cameo appearance.

American Bandstand's Dick Clark In A Brylcreem Ad From The Late 1950s

Super icon and host of the teen show American Bandstand was definitely the king of hosts to all teenagers.  Richard Wagstaff Clark, aka Dick Clark, started his career in radio.

To be more accurate, he started off in the mail room of the radio station WRUN which was an AM radio station in Rome, New York.  Dick's uncle owned the station and his father managed it.  Connections always seem to help out.

In 1952, he took a job as a DJ at a radio station in the suburbs of Philadelphia.  He started substituting for the host of a show called Bob Horn's Bandstand.

Well, lucky Dick Clark! Bob Horn was arrested for drunk driving and fired.  Dick Clark became the show's permanent host which then created his landmark television show American Bandstand.

With his enormous popularity, Brylcreem wanted him as their spokesperson for their hair cream which became hugely popular with teens!

Bananarama Looking Fashionable In The Early 1980s

The group Bananarama was formed in 1981 in London.  Childhood friends Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward were first introduced to Siobhan Fahey while studying journalism at the London College of Fashion.

One interesting tidbit, Dallin and Woodward were living at the YWCA and on their way to being evicted when Paul Cook of the Sex Pistols offered them a place to live that was above the former Sex Pistols rehearsal room.

The trio started performing backup vocals for various bands including The Monochrome Set, Iggy Pop, Department S, The Jam, and The Nipple Erectors.

Then in 1981, Bananarama recorded their first demo which landed them a deal with Demon Records.  Their first single caught the ear and attention of Specials frontman, Terry Hall, who collaborated with them on his project Fun Boy Three.

1968 - Candice Bergen At The Beach

Most recently known for her role on Boston Legal, Candice Bergen is probably the most famous daughter of a ventriloquist.  Her world-renown father, Edgar Bergen was an icon during the 1940s and even allowed him to perform ventriloquism on the radio!

While growing up, Candice felt overshadowed by her father's wooden dummy, Charlie McCarthy.  Think about it, the dummy even had his own bedroom in their home!

On many occasions, she would become very irritated when people called “Charlie McCarthy's little sister.” I believe that would get on my nerves as well!

By the time she was 11, she appeared on her father's radio show and alongside him, on the 1958 Groucho Marx's quiz show You Bet Your Life.

1979 - Cheap Trick Not Smiling For The Camera

In a nutshell, Cheap Trick is the ultimate bar band! On top of that, they came with a lot of style!

The group first started playing in Rockford, Illinois, their hometown, in 1969.  Before forming Cheap Trick, guitarist Rick Nielsen created other bands including The Boyz, The Rim Reapers, Fuse, Nazz, and Sick Man of Europe.

After a few tries, Cheap Trick officially got their name after a European tour in 1973. Their name came about after attending a Slade concert in which they said the band used “every cheap trick in the book” as a part of their act!

Their album Cheap Trick at Budokan was supposed to be exclusive to Japan but due to its popularity and demand, in 1979, Epic Records released the album in the  United States.

The Duke, Desi Arnaz, Lucille Ball, Vivian Vance in 1955

This photograph is from a 1955 episode of I Love Lucy that was titled, Lucy and John Wayne. Glad to see Ethel in the photo, but where the heck is Fred?

Talk about a different venue.  It seems for this season of the show, they moved everyone to Los Angeles from New York so Ricky could work on a movie.

Another tidbit, the episode coincided with the release of John Wayne's movie Blood Alley.  The theme of the show, Lucy steals John Wayne's footprints from Grauman's Chinese Theater.

Later on, he showed up as himself on an episode of The Lucy Show.

1968 - Henry Fonda, Claudia Cardinale, Director Sergio Leone, Charles Bronson And Jason Robards On The Set Of 'Once Upon A Time In The West'

This is another moment when a movie has a cast of thousands!  Sergio Leon co-wrote and directed this epic Spaghetti Western.  Not only was this movie a hit, but it also came off the release of Leon's “The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly”.

The theme was perfectly composted by legendary Ennio Morricone.

During this time, Leone was ready to move to other genres that were not westerns when Paramount Pictures made him a deal he could not turn down, including having the lead played by Henry Fonda! Charles Bronson was given the role of the heavy after Clint Eastwood turned it down.

This is a great movie with an incredible cast, if you haven't seen it, you really should!

Here's A young Eva Mendes Getting Alyssa Milano’s Autograph In 1989

If you want to talk about a chance meeting this is the time.  This photo was taken in 1989 with a 15-year-old Eva Mendes who was in high school and happened to be an enormous fan of the television show, “Who's The Boss?” and its star Alyssa Milano.

Alyssa Milano was only 16 years old at the time.  She had come to a local mall for an autograph signing session. Mendes said she was so obsessed that she almost lost her mind.  Well, nine years later, Eva landed her first screen role on the medical drama ER!

Jan Smithers Started Off As A Model In 1966

And Went On To Play Bailey Quarters On 'WKRP In Cincinnati' Jan Smithers grew up in Woodland Hills, California and started her career as a model.  Before appearing on the CBS sitcom WKRP In Cincinnati, she landed a role on the 1976 television show, Starsky and Hutch.  In that episode, she played Sharman Crane.

She was first brought to the attention of the public as a teenager who was featured on the 1966 cover of Newsweek while sitting on a motorcycle.  Smithers landed the role of Bailey Quarters on WKRP In Cincinnati from 1978 to 1982.

She was married to actor James Brolin 1986 but then they went their separate ways 1995.

Los Angeles Fashion Designer, Margi Kent Created Stevie Nicks' Onstage Look!

Designer Margi Kent created stage wardrobes for George Harrison and Neil Diamond and also created Stevie Nicks' kind of witchy look.

Speaking of Nicks, Kent said that she was the only woman in rock and roll who knew where to go with her costumes.  She knew what her look and character should be that she wanted to project when she was on stage.

If Stevie was consumed by a particular song, the energy would flow through her.  Kent would design the costumes to match that flow.

1953 Jane Russell And Marilyn Monroe Filming 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes'

In 1953, the comedy Gentlemen Prefer Bonds was released starring Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell.  Marilyn sang the legendary song from the film, Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend.

The movie was directed by legendary Howard Hawks and the story follows the lives of 2 showgirls Lorelei Lee and Dorothy Shaw, who travel to Paris.

This was the only film with Jane Russell and Marilyn Monroe together.  It seems they both got along really well and Jane nicknamed Marilyn “Blondi”.

There were always issues with Marilyn coming out of her trailer to start filming.  It seems Russell was the only person on the set who could get her out of her trailer for the day's shooting.

The tidbit being, Russell reportedly received $200,000 for the film while Marilyn only received $500 a week.

Tom Petty Was A Real 'Heartbreaker' In The 1970s

This is a great shot of Tom Petty in the late 70s in his Steel Pulse T-shirt and cowboy boots.  Coming from Florida, it's a nice touch in style!  Tom Petty dropped out of high school when he was 17 to play bass with his band Mudcrutch.

Petty also took guitar lessons from Don Felder of The Eagles.  In order to pay his bills in the early days, Petty worked as a gravedigger and worked on the grounds of the University of Florida even though he was not a student.

What many don't know is you can hear him on the animated television show, King Of The Hill, as the voice of Luanne Platter's husband!

The Cult Film, 'Harold and Maude' From 1971

This film Harold and Maude was one of the first cult film classics. It played for 1,947 showings from the middle of 1972 until June of 1974 at the Westgate Theater in Edina, Minnesota.

The film follows the exploits of a 20-year-old who is in love with a fun-loving woman in her 80s! Director Hal Ashby wanted to film a scene where Harold (Bud Cort) and Maude (Ruth Gordon) are making love. Well, Paramount would have nothing to do with it and nixed the idea.

A trivia moment – Suzanne Somers had a cameo in the movie as a deodorant girl during a funeral but the scene ended up on the floor of the editing room.

The 1978 American Space Opera Film With Caroline Munro - Starcrash!

Starcrash was directed by Luigi Cozzi who later directed Hercules.  Although the concept seems a little on the goofy side, in a good sense,  it's a movie that combines sci-fi with opera.

The cast includes stage and screen legend Christopher Plummer who was paid an incredible $10,000 per day but also with David Hasselhoff.  The film was completed in as little as 18 months and rumor has it, it was supposed to be Cozzi's answer to Star Wars.

Hasselhoff did most of his own stunts which led to accidentally knocking out an Italian stuntman's tooth!  When featured on Mystery Science Theater 3000, the film was paid tribute.

Hanging Out At Studio-54 With Keith Richards, James Brown, And John Belushi

In the 70s and 80s, Studio-54 in New York City was the place where you would find celebrities and beautiful people hanging out and letting their hair down.

Richards and Belushi became good friends after the Rolling Stones appeared on Saturday Night Live.  Many have wondered how the heck Keith Richards was able to outlive both John Belushi and James Brown from the wildlife he lived in those days.

Something really quirky, Richards once offered Belushi some advice by saying “there's a difference between scratching your arse and tearing it to bits.”  Well, I personally have no idea what he's talking about and I have a funny feeling neither did Belushi!

1984 - Gold Medal Olympic Winner - Mary Lou Retton

When Mary Lou Retton won the gold in gymnastics during the 1984 Olympics, she became America's sweetheart.  She won the gold medal in the individual all-around competition as well as 2 silver and 2 bronze medals!

Retton is a devoted Christian conservative and was a strong supporter of the Regan Administration.  She appeared at his campaign rallies for his reelection in her home state of West Virginia.

She also delivered the Pledge of Allegiance at the 2004 Republican Nation Convention.

Keith Richards Doing What He Does Best

Let's face it, Keith Richards is a medical puzzle to modern science.  How the Rolling Stones guitarist has survived all these years is beyond belief with the lifestyle he has lived.  He is a chain-smoker, drinks a lot, spent years using drugs of different forms and will probably outlive all of us!

His grandfather, Augustus Theodore “Gus” Dupree, toured Britain with a jazz band called Gus Dupree and his Boys. He gave Keith his first guitar which he would play and practice by listening to recordings by Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, many other great bands.

Larry, Moe,  And Curly Known As The Three Stooges Were One Of A Kind!

The Three Stooges began their careers as a vaudeville act way back in 1922 and were billed as Ted Healy and His Stooges. Some people's favorites were Shemp and Curly Joe while others loved Larry, Moe, and Curly.

The Three Stooges stayed together until 1970.  Over their careers, they filmed 190 shorts for Columbia Pictures which are still aired on television and have been since 1953.  Their trademark was hitting each other in the face, on the head, etc.

When Curly suffered a stroke in 1946, Moe's brother Shemp stepped in to fill his shoes.

In the 1970s, the remaining Stooges were scheduled to co-star in the R-Rated film Blazing Stewardesses.  But one week before filming, Moe was diagnosed with lung cancer so they had to back out.  The Ritz Brothers ended up replacing them.

JFK And Jackie In A Photo Booth, 1953

Those were the days when young love ran off to photo booths to capture moments as a couple.  How very young Jackie and JFK look, with a look of smiling love!  Little were they aware that in the future they would be President and First Lady of the United States.

In 1952, this very elite couple met at a dinner party in DC.

They were first introduced by a friend and Kennedy fell in love. Upon meeting Jackie, he knew he had never met anyone quite like her.  They dated for 2 years when John asked Jackie to marry him.

He gave her an engagement ring that anyone would die for!  A Van Cleef & Arpels ring set with a 2.88-carat diamond and 2.84-carat emerald.

They were married at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church and honeymooned in Mexico.

At 6-feet tall, Jerry Hall was a model from Texas and was married to Legend Mike Jagger and billionaire Rupert Murdoch. It's always been said it's all about being in the right place at the right time to make it big!

She was sunbathing in the French Riviera along a beach in Saint Tropez when fashion agent Claude Haddad discovered her.

She moved to Paris and shared an apartment with singer Grace Jones, and actress Jessica Lange.  Her first modeling gig was appearing as a mermaid on the cover of the 1975 Roxy Music album, Siren.

Hall was making a whopping $1,000 a day for modeling in 1977.  She appeared on well-over 40 magazine covers including Cosmopolitan and Italian Vogue. She also modeled for Andy Warhol on many occasions.

Debbie Harry Rocking A White Dress Around 1975

Debbie Harry is well-known for her popular band Blonde but did you know the band's name was originally The Angel and the Snake?  The name Blonde would also become Harry's nickname!

One little tidbit, everyone had nicknames in high school and Debbie was no exception, but her nickname was Moon because of the shape of her face.  Another trivia moment, the band Blonde almost made it into the halls of James Bond movie history.

They were originally considered to record the title song for the film For Your Eyes Only.

In 1981, they recorded their album The Hunter which included the song For Your Eyes Only but the producers rebuffed it and instead chose the track by Sheena Easton.

Tom Petty And His Group, The Heartbreakers, In The 1970s

Long before Tom Petty was a member of the band Heartbreakers, he was in a band called The Epics.  They even came with a business card that read For love or money!

With the exception of one member, all members in Heartbreakers were from Florida.  Also, they were enormously popular in Britain long before making it big in the United States.

The Traveling Wilburys was a hugely popular band that Petty joined in 1988.  He was surrounded with royalty in the music industry with George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, and Jeff Lynne!

Another trivia moment - Tom Petty along with the Heartbreakers received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for their contribution to the recording industry.

On Oct. 2, 2017, Petty was discovered unconscious in his home.  He suffered from full cardiac arrest.  Later on, he died at the UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica.  He was only 66 years-of-age.

Lynda Carter Shows Why She's A Wonder Woman

There is no doubt that the name Lynda Carter and Wonder Woman seem to be one and the same.  That said, Carter had already achieved success as a woman of incredible feats.

She was Miss World America in 1972 and finished up as a semifinalist in the Miss World pageant in 1972 which boosted her television career.  She first appeared on television in an episode of Nakia which was a 1974 police drama.

Shortly thereafter, she landed many appearances on television including Starsky and Hutch.  Then in 1976, she landed the role of Wonder Woman which lasted for three seasons.

Brigitte Bardot Looks Sad When She's Happy

First nicknamed the sex kitten in 1958, Bridgette Bardot was known worldwide as the actress from French films.  Believe it or not, she also chose to retire in 1973 at only 39 years of age!

Bardot appeared in more than forty films and recorded several albums with French singer, songwriter, pianist, poet, and painter Serge Gainsbourg.  Her fourth husband was Bernard D'Ormale who was the former adviser to Jean-Marie Le Pen, former leader of the far-right party Front National.

The Front National was the leading far-right party in France that held nationalist and conservative opinions.

One Note – Bardot was a huge advocate for animal's rights.  Upon retirement from the entertainment field, she used her name and fame to promote animals rights causes.

Valerie Bertinelli, Battle Of The Network Stars, 1979

Valerie is an American actress and television star.  She is best known for her role as Barbara Cooper Royer on the sitcom One Day at a Time.  She also appeared on Touched by an Angel and Hot in Cleveland.

This is another great shot of stars appearing on the Battle of the Network-Stars.  This is a picture of Valerie in 1979 playing on behalf of CBS with team members, Team Captain Jamie Farr, Catherine Bach, Patrick Duffy, Lou Ferrigno, and Leif Garrett.

Even though the show aired on ABC, it had teams from all three of the major networks competing in sporting events and only one network would win.  The three networks would choose their teams along with their team leaders and let the games begin!

The standard events included swimming, volleyball, golf, tennis, kayaking, outdoor bowling, running, 3-on-3 football, and cycling.  There were also obstacle courses and even Simon Says! By all rights, it was a very entertaining, fun show.

A Defining Moment In US History - Martin Luther King's I Have A Dream Speech

This is a photograph of one of the most powerful times in American history.  This massive peaceful rally was the largest for grievances that the capital had ever seen and the speaker was none other than Martin Luther King.

King addressed the struggles and emphasized the importance of nonviolent actions and protests.  He then delivered the most famous speech in U.S. history, outside of the Gettysburg Address, – I Have A Dream.

His speech addressed his vision of racial equality and harmony.

He delivered this speech during the March on Washington on August 28, 1963.  He called for civil and economic rights, to end racism in the U.S. He delivered this speech to well over 200,000 civil rights supporters from, appropriately, the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in DC.

It has always been a defining moment for the civil rights movement.  King went on to say that it had been one-hundred years and still Negros were not free.

Toward the end of his speech, he somewhat improvised.  He described his dreams of freedom and equality rising out of the land of slavery and hatred.  It is established that Martin Luther King joined the forces of Jefferson and Lincoln, ranking the highest in modern American history.

A 1999 poll of scholars for public addresses ranked this speech as the very best in the 20th-century.

Robin Williams Hits The Big Time, 1979

Robin Williams was one of the most creative, ad-libbing comedians to ever walk this planet. He was a master at making people laugh and bringing people together.

During the days of Mork and Mindy, it didn't matter how bad your day had been, once you returned home Mork and Mindy would put a huge smile on your face.

The show's rating with Nielsen was very high at number 3!  Just about everyone across the country tuned in to this show, making it one of the all-time most popular television shows.

Robin Williams got his first big break thanks to Mork and Mindy.  Williams' portrayal of Mork from Ork, the bumbling alien, won the world over.  After moving in with his earthling friend, Mindy, they tried to maintain a normal home life, but nothing on this show was ever normal!

Not only known for his improvisational skills he had an enormous range of voices that worked perfectly in his many different characters across the screen.  While Popeye was his first starring role, many people fell in love with his animated Aladdin “Genie” character.

He was nominated 4 times for the Academy Awards, won Best Supporting Actor, received 2 Primetime Emmy Awards, 7 Golden Globe Awards, 2 Screen Actors Guild Awards, and 4 Grammy Awards.

Sadly, on August 11, 2014, Robin Williams committed suicide in his Paradise Cay, California home at the age of 63.  His wife said he had been struggling with Lewy body disease while others believed he was bipolar.

Marvin Gaye With A Parrot In California, 1976

This is a great photo of Marvin Gaye in a pool with an Amazon Parrot on his arm!  It's actually a very clever, creative shot!  This singer, songwriter, and record producer played a major role in defining the sound of Motown in the 1960s.

In the 1970s he and Stevie Wonder were the first artists to move away from traditional production companies.  Gaye recorded his concept albums What's Going On and Let's Get It On.  His later recording would influence many contemporary R&B subgenres - quiet storm and neo-soul.

Very sadly, on April 1, 1984, Marvin's father, Marvin Gaye Sr, fatally shot his son in their home in Los Angeles after an argument broke out.  Directly afterward, he went outside waiting for the police to arrest him.

Marvin Gaye Sr was given a divorce by his wife of 49 years in addition to a six-year suspended sentence, and five years' probation for the shooting.

Mopeds became hugely popular in the 1960s, especially in Europe. Their very simple scooter design caught the attention of the buying public.  The basic design of the scooter was actually used to design very early motorcycles including those manufactured in 1914 and earlier.

Scooters continued to develop and grow throughout Europe and in the United States between the First and Second World Wars.  They gained even more popularity during post-World War II with the introductions of the Vespa and Lambretta.

One big reason for scooters popularity, they are economical transportation for the average person.  They are designed to operate very easily, are low maintenance, and can be stored very easily.

They are very affordable and their licensing and insurance requirements are far less than for cars in most areas of the world.

In the early 60s, Beatlemania was infiltrating everyone's lives including royalty!  What more could a rock band ask for than having Princess Margaret as a huge Beatles Fan?

Audiences were crazy and massive which is actually understating the situation. The Beatles were the most anticipated act in the 19-act show, they were in seventh place to come on stage.

When it came time for their last song of the night, Lennon made an announcement that shook the house and was sure to make it headlines the next day.

For our last number,  he asked people in the cheaper seats to clap their hands and the rest of the audience to rattle their jewelry and they would sing a song called Twist And Shout!

Important Tidbit – When the Beatles started touring solo, they had to call it quits.  The audiences were in such a frenzy and screaming at the top of the lungs, no one could hear their performances! It got to the point that the only way you would enjoy their songs would be purchasing their records.

Cindy Morgan On The Set Of The Film 'Tron', 1982

When the movie Tron was released, the computer age was barely surfacing.  This landmark film was the introduction into a whole new world for that counterculture.

This time had massive fans who were spending most of their time playing arcade games and literally watching the birth of the Internet.

It's really stunning to realize this film was the first to be created with computer animation.  For those who have never seen Tron, it's the story of a computer hacker who is abducted into a digital world and forced to play gladiator games.

This was the only way he could escape this world with the help of a heroic security program.

The movie starred Jeff Bridges, Cindy Morgan, Bruce Boxleitner, David Warner, and Barnard Hughes. If you have never seen Tron, it's worth your time to view it online or get your hands on a copy.

Julius Erving aka Dr. J, Arriving At The 1976 ABA Finals

Julius Erving, known as Dr. J, began his professional basketball career in 1968 and set new records for the game.  It's Dr. J who popularized the phrase slam dunking.

His credits include playing for the New York Nets, the Virginia Squires,  and the Philadelphia 76ers.  He was the 6th-highest scorer in ABA and NBA history with a combination of 30,026 points.

He received 4 MVP awards and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1993.  He was also named to the NBA's 50th-Anniversary All-Time Team and, in 1994, named one of the 40 most important athletes of all-time by Sports Illustrated.

He was inducted into the Nassau County Sports Hall of Fame in 2004.

Princess Diana Has A Chat With Elton John And George Michael, 1980s

This is a wonderful photograph taken in the 80s of Princess Diana talking with her friends Elton John and George Michael at the Feed The World Live Aid concert.

Fondly known as Princess Di, she was the people's princess.  She had so many adoring fans including many celebrities who showed an outpouring of grief after her death and still continue to honor her anniversary each year.

Elton John and George Michael were very close friends of the princess.  She often turned to George Michael for support during her tumultuous divorce from Prince Charles.  They first met at a concert in the 80s and had remained close friends since then.

Drew Carey, United States Marine, Circa 1978

Wow! How young is this photo of Drew Carey?  This shot was taken back in 1978 when he was in the Marine Corps Reserve where he served for 6 years.  He said the Marine Corps was the greatest influence in his life.

In an interview with Times Magazine, he said the Marine Corps instilled an enormous sense of discipline that he could call on when he needs to.  After his years in the Marine Corp, he built a career for himself in stand-up comedy and eventually getting his own sitcom.

The Drew Carey Show became a household name among millions.

He has hosted the game show The Price Is Right since 2007, appeared in many films, music videos, and made-for-television movies.

Manute Bol In 1984 Playing College Basketball

Manute Bol, standing at 7-feet 7-inches (2.31m) is the tallest player in NBA history.  He is also a political activist while being a major professional basketball player.

Over the course of his career, he has played on two college teams before going to 4 NBA teams.  He was considered among the very best short-blockers, which is a specialty player,  in the history of basketball.

He is the only player to block more shots than scoring points.  In terms of average blocked shots per game, he is the second all-time in NBA history, ranking at 15 on the career block list.

The Rebel Yell-er, Billy Idol Back In 1978

William Michael Albert Broad, better known as Billy Idol, reached fame in the 1970s as the lead singer of the punk band Generation X.  He then embarked on a solo career that led him to become an international star.

He was often referred to as the poster boy for the MTV-driven Second British Invasion. His studio album Billy Idol, which debuted in 1982, was a huge success.  The album included smash singles Dancing with Myself and White Wedding.

His second album, in 1983, Rebel Yell was another huge commercial success.  It hit double platinum by selling 2 million copies in the United States.

Since then, there were many successful albums until the latter half of the 1990s when he decided to leave public life and focus on his private life.  He then released his comeback album Devil's Playground in 2005 and Kings & Queens of the Underground in 2014.

Here's A Rare Photo Of Lynda Carter As Wonder Woman Stopping A Robbery, 1975

This is a rare photograph from the 1970s Wonder Woman series starring Lynda Carter.  She could switch from Miss World America into her crime-fighting wardrobe and turn into the all-American hero and icon Wonder Woman!

Although it might not seem like much in this day and age, in the 1970s, women were fighting for gender equality.

Back then, the mindset was that women were delicate little creatures that were attractive.  Showing strength and power was for men only or for women that were not considered desirable.  Well, Lynda Carter certainly smashed that mindset into a million pieces!

Her character came across as smart, heroic, strong, and yet incredibly beautiful and sexy.

Another trivia moment – even after the Wonder Woman series ended, Lynda Carter continued to fight for justice off-screen as an advocate for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender  (LGBT) rights.  She also joined forces in finding a cure for cancer.

Stewardesses Of The 1960s

This photograph from the 1960s shows airline stewardesses whose purpose was to serve and cater to their passengers while looking very polished.  Even though they were “servers”, airlines had this really bad habit of making women look like objects instead of professionals.

In 1971, the National Organization for Women (NOW) stood up against the airlines accusing them of being sexists who degraded women.  They focused on National Airlines whose slogan was “Fly Me”.

Not only did they stand up against the airlines for their treatment of stewardesses as sex objects, they demanded that men should be hired and portrayed in the company's advertisement.

To Date – Today, all airlines have both male and female employees that are now called Flight Attendants, not Stewardesses.  They still wear uniforms but are considered professionals.

They are trained every year in many areas to help out their customers including safety practices, CPR, and how to deal with other emergencies including terrorism.  It is mandatory by the FAA that both pilots and flight attendants receive a year's training.

1982 Pat Benatar & Zebra-Striped Bodysuit -  Hit Me With Your Best Shot!

Pat looks great in her purple zebra-striped bodysuit! Stripes in a range of wild colors were very popular in 1981 and quite fashionable.

In August of 1979, Pat Benatar's debut album “In the Heat of the Night” was released and in early 1980 it reached number 12 in the United States.  Also in 1980, she released her LP Crimes of Passion which featured her signature song Hit Me With Your Best Shot.

This song was her first single that reached the US Top 10 list and eventually reached gold status, selling more than a million copies in the United States.

Clint Eastwood In A Tux, Circa 1966

This photo of Clint Eastwood in 1966, shows how this tough guy can look polished in a tux while donning a shabby beard.  Award-winning actor and director, Eastwood achieved success in the television Western series Rawhide.

In the 1970s he was cast in many Western movies (known as Spaghetti Westerns) and then, later on, he portrayed cop Harry Callahan in the 5 Dirty Harry films from the 70s into the 80s.

At The Beach In Iran, 1968

As this photo shows, life in Iran in the 60s was very different from that of today.  In the 60s, you might think you were looking at a day at the beach somewhere in the United States. Tehran could have been a beach in Florida or Los Angeles.

Today, it couldn't be more different!  So, what happened!

In 1979, the Iranian Revolution changed the culture in the country as well as their relationship with the United States. The revolution overthrew the Pahlavi Dynasty under Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi.

The unbelievable difference in their culture was due to Jalal Al-e-Ahmad's idea of Gharbzadegi. It was believed that Western culture was a plague that should be eliminated. Imagine, if this hadn't happened, we might actually be allies and friends!

Ozzy Osbourne In 1974

This photograph shows a young, 26-year-old Ozzy Osbourne in 1974 when he was still a member of the band Black Sabbath.  Unfortunately, in 1979 he was fired because he would never show up on time for rehearsals and because he was always under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

There seems to be a double standard here as all the members of Black Sabbath were taking drugs and there were many occasions when rehearsals were canceled or ended early because they were too high to get anything done.

Osbourne moved on and released Blizzard of Ozz which was one of the few best-selling albums in the 80s that achieve multi-platinum status but not on the Top 10 list to help it along.

All said, he had a very successful solo career and often had reunions with Black Sabbath since the initial breakup.  Without a doubt, his career was more successful than his former band members and became known as the Godfather of Heavy Metal.

Audrey Hepburn In Paris, 1955

Audrey Hepburn was one of the most iconic, beautiful actresses in the 1950s.  It's really stunning to learn that she disowned her parents and their ideologies which actually makes her even more admirable.

Her parents were Nazi sympathizers which, if found out, would have been scandalous back then.  Her father, Joseph, abandoned her when she was very young and he belonged to the British Union of Fascists along with her mother, Ella.

After their divorce, Ella returned to Germany and attended Nuremberg rallies while publishing articles in the fascist magazine called The Blackshirt.

Eventually, Joseph was investigated by the British House of Commons because he had received funds to start a newspaper that was tied to the Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels.

The House believed he was an enemy of the state and imprisoned for the remainder of the war. Audrey understood just how deplorable his beliefs and actions were and disowned him. Bravo Audrey!

1977 - Debbie Harry Donning Her Patti Smith T-shirt and Knee-High Boots

Debbie Harry, better known as Blonde, is donning a Patti Smith t-shirt and knee-high boots and looks great!

This iconic Punk rock singer is considered the first female rapper to reach the charts in the number one slot in the United States.  She also has over 60 films and many television appearances to her name.

Blonde was founded by Harry and guitarist Chris Stein with Clem Burke, Gary Valentine, and Jimmy Destri as band members.  They were the pioneers of the punk scene as well as noted for their eclectic blend of musical styles.

The band created a blend of disco, pop, and reggae and was credited with introducing American listeners to alternative elements of Rock and Roll in the late 70s.

To date, Blonde has sold 40 million records worldwide and is still very active. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.

1983 - On The Set Of Risky Business With Tom Cruise & Rebecca De Mornay

The film Risky Business is more than a little unconventional.  It's the story of a high school student, played by Cruise, who has sex with a call girl and then turns his parents' home into a brother while they are out of town.

During the 80s, rumor has it that Cruise was not far off the beaten path of his character.  Even though he was dedicated to his bible studies, apparently he had a line of young women outside his dressing room who, when they left, looked more than disheveled.

He also was in a very steaming affair with his co-star Rebecca De Mornay.

Rita Hayworth Publicity Still From Gilda, 1946

This is a great photograph of iconic and gorgeous Rita Hayworth posing for a publicity shot for her movie Gilda.  This is probably the film she is best known for and is considered one of the greatest classics of all time.

The storyline is about a small-time gambler who is hired to work in a casino in Buenos Aires.  He discovers that his ex-lover is now married to his boss!

Rita Hayworth was considered the embodiment of Hollywood glamour.  She rose to ultra stardom during the 1940s and became one of the era's most important stars.  She appeared in a total of 61 films over the span of 37 years.

The press had coined her the “love goddess” and considered her the most glamorous screen idol during the 40s.  She was one of the top pin-up girls during World War II and the GIs just loved her!

Note: Betty Grable was also one of the hottest pin-up girls in the 40s, known for her million dollar legs. Her legs were insured by Lloyd's Of London for 2 Million Dollars.

Here's a photograph of Glenn Danzig and Jerry Only of the Misfits having a good time at Club 57 in New York City in 1980.  The Misfits were best known for their unique blend of punk rock and horror film images and themes.

Glenn Danzig and Jerry Only were the only continuous members of the band.  Back in 1977, the band included Glenn Danzig, bassist Jerry Only, and drummer Manny Martinez.

They released several EPs and singles with Jerry Only's brother, Doyle, on guitar.  After breaking up in 1993, Danzig formed Samhain and then Danzig.

Charlotte Rampling is known for her portrayal of Dr. Evelyn Vogel in the final season of Dexter.  Back in 1976, when this photo was taken, she was emerging in French and Italian Arthouse films after spending the 60s as a model and fashion icon.

Some of her more notable films, during this time, were Luchino Visconti's The damned in 1969, Liliana Cavani's The Night Porter in 1974, Zardox in 1974, Farewell, and My Lovely in 1975.

During the 1980s, she was in such classics as Woody Allen's Stardust Memories, The Verdict (opposite Paul Newman) in 1982, and the classic mystery Angel Heart in 1987.

Swedish Actress Anita Ekberg, 1960s

This is a great shot taken of the 60s gorgeous Kerstin Anita Marianne Ekberg, better known as Anita Ekberg. She is probably best known for her role as Sylvia in Federico Fellini's film La Dolce Vita in 1960.  She originally started off as a model.

It wasn't until the mid-50s when she finally got a break in films.  This Swedish, voluptuous starlet also led a very colorful private life that attracted gossip columnists and magazines alike.

Her romances were highly publicized, including Frank Sinatra, Tyrone Power, Yul Brynner, Rod Taylor, and Errol Flynn.  The press called her Paramount's Marilyn Monroe.

1935 - Stepping Back In Time - A Civil War Veteran Shares His Stories To An Eager Audience

The Civil War was the bloodiest and defining wars in American history.  Between 1861 and 1865, war broke out between the Union soldiers from the North and the Confederate soldiers from the South.

The war was mostly fought around slavery and state's rights.  The death rate was the highest of any war this country was ever in.  It pitted brother against brother, father against son and lives were torn apart.

The victory by the North resolved two major issues. The first being whether the United States was to be a dissolvable confederation of sovereign states or an indivisible nation with a sovereign national government.

The second dealt with whether or not this nation that declared all men were created equal, would continue to keep slaves.  Well, the North thankfully won and slavery was abolished and the nation became united.

The Rat Pack Outside Sands Casino, Las Vegas, 1960

Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford, and Joey Bishop were the members of the infamous Rat Pack.  In this photo, they are standing outside the Sands Casino in Las Vegas, 1960.

They were given the nickname Rat Pack by the media and anytime the media referred to them it was using this name.

Sinatra, Martin, and Davis were considered the leaders of the Rat Pack.  Believe it or not, both Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall were also members!

The Rat Pack appeared on stage and in several movies including the original Ocean's 11, Sergeants 3, and Robin and the 7 Hoods. Bing Crosby replaced Peter Lawford in Robin and the 7 Hoods.

Funny Face! A 15-Year-Old Ellen Degeneres

Believe it or not, this photo is of an awkward young 15-year-old Ellen DeGeneres, even though she looks so different now!

In the 1980s, Ellen launched her stand-up career and invited on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson in 1986. She had her own televisions shows, Ellen and the Ellen DeGeneres Show.

She also was in many films including Mr. Wrong in 1966, an appearance in Edtv in 1999, The Love Letter in 1999, and provided the voice for Dory in the Pixar animated films Finding Nemo (2013) and Finding Dory (2016).

Dancer, Singer And Actress Ann-Margret, 1966

Ann-Margret Olsson, better known as just Ann-Margret, was a dancer, singer, actress, and all-around amazing talent.  This is a wonderful picture of her taken back in 1968.

It is believed that George Burns discovered her and launched her singing career and after that, she entered the world of acting.  She received a 7-year contract with 20th Century Fox and starred alongside Elvis, Jack Nicholson, and John Wayne.

She received an Oscar nomination for her performance in Carnal Knowledge and was also invited to sing at President John F. Kennedy's 46th birthday party.  Note – this was one year after Marilyn Monroe was invited.

She loved motorcycles which earned her a daredevil reputation and her very sexy throaty singing voice led to her being called the female Elvis!

Gloria Estefan Singing In The Late 1970s Early 1980s

In 1985, Cuban-American songwriter and singer Gloria Estefan released her breakthrough song, Conga and who could ever forget Get On Your Feet, Rhythm Is Gonna Get You, or Here We Are.  She continually churned out songs topping the charts internationally.

On top of winning 7 Grammy Awards, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as well as the Las Vega Walk of Fame.  She also received the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her amazing contributions to American music.

In December of 2017, she was awarded the Kennedy Center Honors for her contributions to American Culture Life.

Robin Williams Won A Golden Globe For Good Morning Vietnam

Robin Williams has received more awards than one can keep count of over his splendid career. Probably there is no award that means as much as winning your very first award and in Williams' case, that would be for his starring role on the television show Mork and Mindy.

He received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in Good Will Hunting in 1997.  He won 6 Golden Globe Awards including Best Actor Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for his roles in Good Morning Vietnam in 1987, The Fisher King in 1991, and Mrs. Doublefire in 1993.

He also won the Cecil B. DeMille Award in 2005.

A Glimpse Of 1967 Chicago

In 1967, Chicago experienced a blizzard that left the city, as well as the surrounding areas, covered in 23 inches of snow.  It was the largest snowfall recorded in the city's history.

Thousands of people were stranded in their offices, schools, or other public places. It was recorded that approximately 50,000 cars were abandoned along with 800 Transit Authority buses.

In the southern suburb of Markham, 4 schools with 650 students had to camp out in libraries and gyms, trying to make the best out of a terrible situation.

The Supervisor J. Lewis Weingarner said the kids were actually enjoying themselves.  He went on to say that this storm would go down in memory books.

Hanging Out At The Record Store, 1957

If you were a music lover back in 1957, chances are, you hung out in record stores and actually held a vinyl, round record vs downloading tunes.  Even though there is a great deal to be said about iTunes and being able to instantly download your favorite tunes, there's something missing.

Music stores had an ambiance, an experience for music lovers.  There's something to be said about immersing yourself in a tower of records!

A music store gave you a floor to ceiling stack of records, wonderful album covers with amazing artwork along with a lot of novelty items loaded on shelves.

The racks were loaded with cassettes and later on, CDs!  It's almost sad when music stores started closing their doors for good, because of the digital age.

Vietnam, 1968, A Young American Soldier Keeps His Reminders Of This Girlfriend Back Home

During the Vietnam War, there were so many photographs taken of soldiers and their surroundings.  This photo was taken on May 1, 1968, of an American soldier stationed in Cu Chi, South Vietnam.

His helmet's band was loaded with pictures of his girlfriend back home.

I'm sure her photos served as a comfort in extremely terrifying times.  I am sure many soldiers had their own photographs of loved ones that benefited them in so many ways.

Photographs serve as a reminder of home and all the reasons why they must stay alive and stay strong.

At the same time, back home in the USA, an entire generation was protesting the war and wanting all these American soldiers to come home, safely.

Happy Birthday Michael Jackson, 1968

Legendary Michael Jackson was born on August 29, 1958.  He was one of eight children and when he was just 5 years-of-age, his father thought it would be an excellent idea to take his 5 sons and form a singing group.  He knew they had talent so why not show them off.

Because of Michael's incredible range, it was only befitting that he becomes the lead singer.  After they won a number of talent shows, their father entered them in two talent shows.

One was at the Regal Theater in Chicago and the other was at the Apollo Theater in Harlem.  By the way, they won both talent shows.

Gladys Knight took the group's record to Motown but it was rejected.  Eventually, they impressed Bobby Taylor and they were signed to Motown on March 11, 1969.

Later on, they moved to Hollywood and opened for Dianna Ross and the Supremes. They released their first single I Want You Back in October of the same year and it rose to the number one spot on the billboards.

As millions and millions of people know, that was only the beginning of Michael Jackson's amazing career.

1971, A Young Lynda Carter Taking Time To Sunbathe

This picture of 20-year-old Lynda Carter sunbathing was taken in 1971.  Even if she didn't know it at the time, she was on her way to the role of a lifetime – starring as Wonder Woman which ran fro. 1975 to 1979.

She quickly became a household name as well as the first female superhero.  She made being tough look easy and very sexy!  She became a pop icon almost overnight.

After her Wonder Woman role came to end, she continued her battles, never retiring her superhero cape. Lynda battled for justice off the screen as an advocate for LGBT rights and joined forces to find a cure for cancer.

Circa 1989, Inside Music Stores In The Malls Were King

The days of the small record stores are gone, never to return, but so are the large commercial music stores that used to line the shopping malls.

Like the smaller record stores, music stores gave people a place to go through all the CDs, place orders ahead of time for their favorite band's soon-to-be-released. Music stores also offer posters that could only be truly enjoyed with a black light!

In some ways, it's really sad to realize that iTunes has taken over and all we have left are the fond memories of the days when music and record stores were king!

Jimi Hendrix Performing In Bakersfield, California, 1968

In 1966, Jimi Hendrix signed with his first manager and 3 of his songs landed on the United Kingdom's top 10 list of hits.  He very quickly became a household name followed by landing many major events.

1969, he headlined Woodstock and became the highest-paid entertainer in the entire world.  His name is synonymous with his guitar and blues.  Jimi Hendrix experienced becoming a mega-star even though he had only been active in the world of music for less than 10 years.

Sadly, on September 18, 1970, everything ended when Jimi Hendrix died.  Even though it was accidental, he swallowed a handful of sleeping pills and never woke up again.  He was known for drinking and continually popping pills with no regard to the instructions.

I don't believe he even knew that taking only half a Vesparax was enough for 8 hours of sleep.  He took over 18 times the required and recommended dosage and the world lost an incredibly talented artist.

Mattel Gave Us This Toy In 1964

Back in 1964, Mattel gave kids tons of toys and this one was one of the hottest (no pun intended) and it still exists to this day!  Even though it has evolved, the basic concept remains the same.

What is now known as “Creepy Crawlers”,  was originally called the Thingmaker, which is shown in this photo.

This is how it worked, you would squirt Plasti-Goop into molds, pop them into the Thingmaker, which was actually a hybrid hotplate, and out came rubbery creatures.

Kids would first burn themselves than go after their friends – what a concept! I guess there weren't any warnings, back then, that burning yourself and your friends was not a really good idea.

In 1978, this toy was discontinued only to reemerge in the 90s with a few safety precautions added.  The pouring of super-hot goop into molds was replaced by a safer injectable goop approach.

Another feature, the oven door will keep them in place until everything has cooled down.  In a nutshell, it is an Easy-Bake Oven that cooks non-toxic plastic goop instead of Mom's brownies!

1987 Was The Release Of The Crazy Spaceballs Film By Zany Mel Brooks

Mel Brooks is known for his hilarious writing and directing and Spaceballs is no exception.  He co-wrote, directed, and produced this film He also starred in the flick along with Bill Pullman, John Candy, and Rick Moranis.

The film also featured Daphne Zuniga, Dick Van Patten, and the voice of Joan Rivers.

Spaceballs is a satire of the original Star Wars trilogy and also other sci-fi films including Star Trek, Alien, and Planet of the Apes.

In 1987, MGM released the film that received mixed reviews.  That said, to date, it is still a much-loved favorite with its huge cult following.

British actress Jacqueline Bissett In the 1960s Before Dancing on the Edge

This is a wonderful photo of English actress Jacqueline Bissett in the early stages of her career.  She first came into recognition in 1968 for such roles as The Detective, Bullitt, and The Sweet Ride which earned the young actress a Golden Globe nomination.

In 1973, she starred in Day for Night and then in 1974 she was a member of the ensemble cast of iconic actors in Murder On The Orient Express.

She received a Golden Globe for her performance in the 1978 film, Who Is Killing The Great Chefs of Europe? and an Emmy nomination for Joan of Arc in 1999.

She won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress for Dancing on the Edge in 2013 and was bestowed France's highest honor, the Légion d'honneur in 2010.

1973, A Photograph Of The Last 2 Iconic Three Stooges, Moe And Larry

This is a picture of the last two aging slapstick comedians from the legendary Three Stooges in 1973.  The Three Stooges were Moe Moses Horwitz (Moe Howard), Louis Fienberg ( Larry Fine), and Jerome Lester Horwitz (Curly Howard).

Even though viewers today might consider the Three Stooges as passable entertainment but, in reality, they turned vaudeville slapstick on its ear as an art form.

They were the inspiration of many comedic actors and writers that followed.  They were a major influence on just about every single form of comedy, no matter what media.

Muhammad Ali In 1974 Standing With His Winnings

Muhammad Ali is not called The Greatest for no reason.  In this photograph, he is standing in a vault with piles of money at his feet!  There is no doubt that he earned his title in the boxing ring because he “floated like a butterfly and stung like a bee”. 

In the famous Ali -  Foreman Match on October 30, 1974, Muhammad Ali knocked out the champion George Foreman, making Ali the new champion of the world for the second time.  It all happened during the eighth round in Kinshasa, Zaire and was appropriately called Rumble in the Jungle.

Ali was a strong representative of African pride during the Civil Rights Movement in the 60s.  He was against the Vietnam War, refusing to be drafted into the military, was arrested for draft evasion, and stripped of his boxing titles.

His win against George Foreman made him the second ousted champion in history to successfully win back his belt.

1967 - Paul McCartney Taking A Break From Filming The Promo Strawberry Fields Forever

On January 30, 1976, the Beatles were working on their promotional film for their soon to be released single Strawberry Fields Forever.  Actually, the song had been written by John Lennon a year before when filming How I Won The War In Spain.

Lennon was inspired by memories of playing in the garden of the Salvation Army children's home Strawberry Fields.  He grew up in Liverpool which was not far from this children's home.

Knole Park in Sevenoaks, Kent was the location for filming Strawberry Fields and directed by Peter Goldmann.  Goldmann, a Swedish television director, was recommended to The Beatles by their friend Klaus Voormann.

Peter Goldmann would also direct The Beatles' promo film, Penny Lane.

A 1968 Photo Of Princess Diana And Harry Enjoying Some Leisure Time

This is a wonderful shot of Mom (Princess Di) and son Harry taking some leisure time.  Lady Diana Spencer was only 19, working as a Kindergarten teacher when 32-year-old Prince Charles announced he wanted to marry her.

She had known the Prince and his family her entire life.  She was the daughter of the Eighth Earl Spencer who served as an officer in the royal household, so you could say they grew up together.

Diana and Charles were actually cousins, sixteen times removed.  Shy Di, as the press loved to call her, became the Princess of Wales and was one of the most beloved women in the entire world.

So Cute! A Little Girl In Her Car, 1947

Photographer Fred Stein captured this adorable photo of this little girl tooling around town in her custom-built car for getting around the streets of New York.

Fred Stein was the pioneer and leading expert in working with hand-held cameras.  He was renowned for capturing images of everyday people.  His images have been considered striking psychological and cultural insights of great significance.

His gift at portraits seemed to capture the personalities of his subjects and their era.  In 1967, Stein passed away at the young age of 57. His work has lived on in newspapers, magazines, exhibits, and books throughout the entire world.

Telly Savalas 1960s - Who Loves Ya Baby

Of Greek descent, Telly Savalas was a singer and actor for many years playing characters, good guys, and bad guys.  He was best known for his deep voice and bald head.  Aristotelis “Telly” Savalas' career spanned over four decades.

His many films included 1961's The Young Savages, 1965's The Greatest Story Ever Told, 1965's Battle Of The Bulge, 1967's Dirty Dozen, 1968's The Scalphunters, and as the villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld in the James Bond film On Her Majesty's Secret Service in 1969.

In 1962, he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Birdman of Alcatraz.  His career continued through the 70s and he became a household name with his television series Kojack which ran from 1973 to 1978.

Also, his real-life brother, George Savalas, was also a cast member on the show.

Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather In 1972

Coppola's film The Godfather was based on the novel by Mario Puzo.  It's the story of an Italian-American crime family headed by Don Vito Corleone, played by Marlon Brando. The movie was a blockbuster hit!

The cast was made up of some of the finest actors of their time, including Al Pacino and Diane Keaton.  The film is considered one of the greatest films ever made and certainly the best mob film in history.

Al Pacino caught the eye of Coppola for his incredible performance of a heroin addict in the 1971 film Panic in Needle Park.  Originally, Coppola was considering Jack Nicholson, Robert Redford, and Warren Beatty for the part but decided on up-and-coming Al Pacino for the character Michael Corleone.  On a personal note, Al Pacino said the first time he was supposed to film a scene with Brando, he almost passed out!

The Great Pretender! Rocker Chrissie Hynde, 1979

Founder and songwriter Chrissie Hynde was the lead singer and rhythm guitarist.  James Honeyman-Scott played lead guitar, keyboard, and backup vocals, Pete Farndon played bass guitar and backup vocals, Martin Chambers was on drums and percussion and backup vocals.

Chrissie also worked on other projects, releasing a number of songs with other musicians including Frank Sinatra and Cher.

The band, as well as Hynde, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005.

The Late 60s, Carroll Shelby And His Car

This is a picture of the automotive designer, race driver, and founder of Shelby American Inc, Carroll Hall Shelby.

He was best known for his work with the Ford Motor Company on the AC Cobra and Mustang which later became known as Shelby Mustangs.

Shelby was in 8 World Championship races and many other non-championship races.  In 1956 and 1957, he was honored the Sports Illustrated's driver of the year.

Weird Al, Valedictorian Of Lynwood High School, 1975

You might be quite surprised to learn that the famous parody artist, Weird Al, graduated valedictorian of his senior class and went on to get his bachelor's in Architecture from California Polytechnic State University.

His first comedy song in 1976 sold more than 12 million albums. He recorded over 150 songs and performed over a thousand live shows. He earned four Grammy Awards in addition to 11 nominations.  H achieved world acclaim and has four gold records and six platinum records.

Long Before Roseanne, Here is A Very Young John Goodman

Can you possibly believe these two photos are none other than John Goodman?  Obviously, these shots were taken long before he became a household name from his days on the incredibly popular show Roseanne.

Goodman had several really funny commercials including the one where he is a toy store owner who would talk to his toy in the attic.  Then, he takes them to the bank to get a business loan!

Before 1979 & The Dukes Of Hazzard, Is A Young Catherine Bach

This is a young Catherine Bach before she showed up in Hazzard County in 1979.  She was responsible for Daisy Duke's clothing when initially they wanted her dressed in a turtleneck, a poodle skirt, and go-go-boots!

She decided to throw together a t-shirt, a pair of cut-off denim shorts, and high heels and the rest is history.  The Duke of Hazzard ran from January 26, 1979, to February 8, 1985, on CBS.

A 1971 Photo of the Band Bread - Do You Have A Favorite Song?

The rock band, Bread placed 13 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart between 1970 and 1977. For anyone who wants to know where they get their name from, they were stuck in traffic behind a Wonder Bread truck.

The members were David Gates, Jimmy Griffin, Robb Royer, Mike Botts, and Larry Knechtel.  The quite literally created this soft rock sound back in the early 70s.  Some of their hottest hits were Make It With You, If, Baby I'm-a Want You, and Everything I Own.

Farrah Fawcett Sitting Pretty, the 1970s

Born in Texas, Farrah Fawcett was the daughter of an oil field contractor and she went on to become a success story unto herself. Acting was not her first choice, she attended the University of Texas in Austin and graduated with a degree in Microbiology.

After winning the campus beauty contest, an agent encouraged her to pursue an acting career.  She moved to Los Angeles and landed commercials for Ultra-Brite toothpaste and Wella Balsam shampoo.  She also appeared in several television shows.

In 1973, Fawcett married Lee Majors who starred in the television series Six Million Dollar Man.  Fawcett then caught the attention of legendary producer Aaron Spelling.

She was given the role that made her a household name in the television series Charlie's Angels in 1976.

Bob Dylan Checking Out Records, 1963

There is no doubt that Bob Dylan was one of the most significant American singers and songwriters of our time.  He has performed with other rock icons including Tom Petty, George Harrison, and The Grateful Dead.

Even when he was goofing off from time to time, he was gifted with an amazing talent and that is how The Traveling Wilburys came about.  It was considered a significant accident by most musical geniuses.

George Harrison came up with a way to fill the B-side of a single for This Is Love from his Cloud Nine album.  It is usually customary to add never heard of before tunes on the flip side of a single.

Well, he just happened to be hanging out with Jeff Lynne, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and Roy Orbison at Dylan's studio.  It dawned on Harrison to record a jam session for this B-side and, guess what, they nailed it!

It seems it was only natural to come up with an idea for a full-scale collaborative album!

Raquel Welch A Bombshell Beauty Of The 1960s

Raquel Welch's career was launched in 1966 when she appeared in the prehistoric film One Million Years B.C, wearing a bikini.  She ruled as the 1960s international sex symbol which helped produce the best-selling pin-up posters of all time!

After Marilyn Monroe died in 1962, Welch easily took over her throne and totally changed the image of blondes having more fun!  She was, without a doubt, the brunette sex goddess of her time!

Before the fame set in, she worked as a local television weather girl in San Diego and started modeling for Neiman-Marcus.  She also appeared in some small parts on television including McHale's Navy and Bewitched.

Elvis Presley In 1960

This photo testifies to the fact that Elvis was quite the ladies man in the 1960s.

After his divorce from Priscilla was finalized, he became quite wild and let some of the good looking ladies stay in his famous mansion.  It has been reported that inside Graceland, it was not unheard of to see over 152 women!

Presley was a country phenomenon with a blend of rhythm and blues tied into one.  His first RCA single was Heartbreak Hotel which was released in 1965.  It became a number one hit in no time at all!

Presley earned the largest number of gold and platinum record awards in the history of the industry.  He had a total of 90 gold, 53 platinum, and 25 multi-platinum album awards under his belt.

Cutie Jamie Lee Curtis In The Early 1980s

This is a great shot of Jamie Lee Curtis posing for the camera.  She was the queen of horror films in the 70s but couldn't seem to break away from the image until she landed a role in Trading Spaces in 1983.  After that, she started getting more recognition outside of the horror genre.

She received the BAFTA award as best supporting actress for her role in Trading Spaces.  Then she landed the leading role in the film A Fish Called Wanda and was nominated for the BAFTA as Best Leading Actress.

Then in 1994, she won a Golden Globe for her role in True Lies and has not stopped working ever since.  That said, she has reprised her role as Lori Strode in Halloween II and Halloween H20 – 20 years later and Halloween Resurrection.

She also provided the voice role in Halloween III Season of the Witch.  It has also been reported that, once again, she will play Lori Strode for Halloween, 2018. So much for trying to get away from the days of Halloween!

This is a great shot taken in the 1950s of Zsa Zsa Gabor and her Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing.  Life truly is so tough at the top!

She started her career when she was crowned Miss Hungary in 1936 and then started her stage career in Vienna.  She emigrated to the United States from Hungary in 1941 and Hollywood fell in love with her European flair and style.

In 1952, she played a key role in John Houston's film, Moulin Rouge.

Gabor was also very well-known for her many husbands, a total of 9!  One of her husbands was the hotel magnate Conrad Hilton.  His son, Barron Hilton who was the grandfather to none other than Paris Hilton.

Gabor said Men have always liked her and she always liked men.  She liked mannish men who know how to talk and treat a woman, not just a man with muscles.

On March 24, 1958, the news hit the wires that Elvis Presley joined the United States Army.  He spent three days at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas Reception Station.

He left active duty at Fort Dix in New Jersey on March 5, 1960, and was discharged from the Army Reserve on March 23, 1964.

He went through basic and advanced training and served in two different armor battalions during his active duty.

Presley was sent overseas to serve as a member of the First Medium Tank Battalion, 32nd Armor in Germany from October 1, 1958, to March 2, 1960.

This photograph was taken by Milton H. Green in 1955 for a Look Magazine's editorial on Oriental Gowns.  The photograph was shot at his New York studio on March 28, 1955, along with this precious Pekinese puppy.

The staging area is also wonderful!  You can see an embroidered ottoman, a folding dressing screen, and an abundance of cushions.  He posed her dressed in an Oriental-style black robe while snuggling with the puppy.

Frank Sinatra gave Marilyn a gift because she loved animals. The gift was an adorable white fluffy dog named Mafia Honey, or Maf for short.  It was meant as a tongue-in-cheek gesture because of his alleged ties to the mafia!

Kim Basinger Poses For A Great Shot!

After modeling in New York City for a long time, Basinger decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting in 1967.

In 1979, she was cast in the remake of From Here to Eternity before making her feature film debut, Hard Country, in 1981.  She also landed the role of Domino Petacchi, a Bond girl, in the 1983 film Never Say Never Again.

She was so lucky to be opposite Sean Connery who has long been considered the greatest James Bond!  Her list of films continued to grow including The Natural in 1984, 9-1/2 Weeks in 1986, and Tim Burton's blockbuster – Batman in 1989.

In 1997, she won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Lynn Bracken in the 1997 film L.A. Confidential.

Other films included I Dreamed of Africa (2000), 8 Mile (2002), The Door in the Floor (2004), Cellular (2004), The Nice Guys (2016), and most recently, Fifty Shades Darker (2017).

Sophia Loren At Home In Italy

There is no doubt, Sophia Loren was one of the most beautiful women to grace the silver screen.  In 1955, David Seymour shot this photo of her.  He was best known for his incredible portraits of legendary actresses including Audrey Hepburn and Ingrid Bergman.

He also captured a series of wonderful shots of Sophia Loren at her home in Italy.

David Seymour was one of the co-founders of Magnum Photos along with his heavyweight buddies Henri Carter-Bresson, Robert Capa, George Rodger, and William Vandivert. Taking photographs of Sophia Loren was a much easier job than the latter.

Sadly, in 1956, while traveling near the Suez Canal to cover a prisoner exchange, he was killed by Egyptian machine-gun fire.

1972 Filming Of "Papillon" With Ali MacGraw & Steve McQueen

Ali MacGraw is probably best known for her leading role in the blockbuster 1970 film Love Story.  She was also in the film Goodbye Columbus and other epic movies.  She was also known for her epic romances.

She was married to Hollywood producer Robert Evans in the early 70s and then left him for legendary film star Steve McQueen.  They had co-starred together in the 1971 Sam Peckinpah film The Getaway.

When talking about McQueen she said that he could walk into a room and men, women, and even children would say “Whoa, what's that?”  She also said she was no exception.  In 1977, the couple split up after five years in a romantic and turbulent roller coaster ride!
